Ion Action Bars  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lithium 3.1.2a
by: Maul, Jrosk, SLOKnightfall, Soyier

Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.

Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!

Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:

Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars
  • add: Adds buttons to the currently selected bar (add or add #)
  • remove: Removes buttons from the currently selected bar (remove or remove #)
  • edit: Toggle edit mode for all buttons
  • bind: Toggle binding mode for all buttons
  • scale: Scale a bar to the desired size.
  • snapto: Toggle SnapTo for current bar
  • autohide: Toggle AutoHide for current bar
  • shape: Change current bar's shape
  • name: Change current bar's name
  • strata: Change current bar's frame strata

  • showgrid: Toggle the current bar's showgrid flag

Lithium 3.0 - Update to WoW 7.3
-Bug fixes
-FAQ rework
-PlaySound fix

Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

As strange as it may sound that's the way it's always been.
You must only have had luck in that the actionID# hasn't been one of those on your main bar.
I suggest copying the macro from your blizzard one to your macaroon macro button.
Or just assign the button with a different actionID# than you use on your main bar.

Flyout Macro

Hey guys, and girls!

I am having a bit of a problem, maybe someone can help?

Recently I noticed I can't create a correct flyout macro. All of my mounts or pets won't show up when I create the macro and I've tried several different combinations and such. Can anyone point me in the right direction to read up on fly out macros?

Edit; I have looked at the FAQ and its not helping too much...

Edit 2 - I can't get my pets to show up at all X_X

Edit 3 --- I scrolled back a few pages and found the answer on how to do this correctly. Thanks everyone!

P.S. I was trying to use the create flyout macro helper thing... could there be something wrong with it by chance?

EDIT: According to the Bug List, this was fixed back around Halloween. What do I do? I commented on that bug. Do I open a new ticket or will Maul see that comment?
Not sure how that works, but making a new ticket saying it's back is not a bad idea.

Is that a bug?

I'll check when I get home, but I shouldn't. I stopped playing WoW for about a year and a half, and when I came back to it a few months ago I re-created my UI and all settings from scratch. Nothing got carried over from my old backups.

I don't get message when I run the script. Nothing whatsoever happens if I activate the macro with the Shift key pressed (no error message, no sound, no keypress visual on the actionbar even - though it does recognize that I'm holding down the Shift key as the icon and tooltip are appropriate for my Shift-modified spell). I see the message when I try to re-bind Shift+3 to another action.
I just checked, and there is no Trinity-related files anywhere in my WoW installation. My WTF folder only contains Macaroon and Macaroon Profiles saved variables files (as far as anything that should be dealing with this issue), and those are all recently modified.

Thanks.

Interface\AddOns\Macaroon\Macaroon_Object_Editor.lua:131: attempt to call global 'PetPaperDollFrame_UpdateCompanions' (a nil value)

I get errors from blizzards PaperDollFrame any time I'm inspecting someone. I bet this has something to do with that as well only that the error says Macaroon tries to call a blizzard frame that is having the problem. So in the end I think it is a Blizzard error.

i just got this addon yesterday, but i'm starting to get the hang of it.

first i tried going to my "topbar" which i have the bindings set for 1234 ect. because i'm a druid, i set this to be a stance bar.
then i simply added a vehicle stance, and added the buttons ect. however when i enter a vehicle, nothing happens.

i then used a posess bar, which gets all of the vehicle's action buttons, however it doesn't give me the up/down/exit buttons... the exit button being the one i need the most.

i even createdd a new paged bar that has all of the vehicle buttons on page6, but still it doesn't page when entering a vehicle.
what do i do?

Checking the box for vehicle should do it as long as you get that vehicle state. Then add buttons to the state and make sure they are actionID:121 -132 (you will get the aim and exitbuttons as Macaroon macro buttons instead of some IDs, that should be ok)

If you're going for the pilgrim tables, those are a possess and needs a possess bar which you set up in the same way only difference is checking possess instead of vehicle.

Thanks for tip. I have the same Issue on German Realm. 4000.1.11 works for me to!

To start off, I've managed to forge a desired keybinding for Regrowth on my druid, in the Stored Buttons portion of this mod.

Unfortunately, despite reading through lists of instructions, I'm still clueless about how to make this button "visible" on my UI.

I've tried to create a new bar, again, I can't see it on my UI. This mod appears to be working fine, as I have bound this button to a numeric key, and it works fine when I press this key, but I'd very much like a basic step by step guide to making a bar, and then making the buttons on that bar visible.

Edit -

I've managed to make a bar "shadow" appear on my UI, but again I'm still no closer to understanding how to move a button into said bar.

You don't move the buttons per say. You just add buttons to a bar in your UI and so long as you haven't locked the row in the buttonstorage the buttons from the storage will be removed from the storage and added to your bar in your UI.

How to add buttons to a bar in your UI: Bar editor, bottom right area, click on Buttons, arrows appear on each side of "Buttons", click the right arrow

OK. Then I have to ask, as you also posted you got a message(?) saying Trinity-someting-. Do you have any old addons like Trinity left? or even saved vars? could also check the AddOns.txt in WTF/Account/<account>/<user>/<realm>/<character> folder
Yes, just outside the SavedVariables folder. If there is any old addons listed in there. You can rename/move/delete that txt file and WoW will make a new one.(for some reason it will only list some of the addons you're using though. Haven't given me any troubles.)
I'll check when I get home, but I shouldn't. I stopped playing WoW for about a year and a half, and when I came back to it a few months ago I re-created my UI and all settings from scratch. Nothing got carried over from my old backups.

I have a button w/ a /castsequence macro on it. The cooldown alpha is set to 0%. When I use the 1st ability in the sequence, the button goes invisible, & then after about 3 seconds, it finally comes back showing the 2nd ability in the sequence.

This didn't use to happen. Once the 1st ability was used, it would immediately show the 2nd ability, and show the cooldown spiral over that.

I'm using 40000.2.1.
