Ion Action Bars  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lithium 3.1.2a
by: Maul, Jrosk, SLOKnightfall, Soyier

Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.

Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!

Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:

Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars

Lithium 3.0 - Update to WoW 7.3
-Bug fixes
-FAQ rework
-PlaySound fix

Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

When I installed Macaroon for Cataclysm Beta, I noticed that the default Blizzard vehicle/possesion bar would appear even if I had Macaroon bars setup. I actually liked it this way but I can't figure out how to get this working on Live. I have "Enable Blizzard Vehicle Bar" checked in the options. Shouldn't this also work for the possession bar?

Thanks, I would have never found that.

I also have that issue as well, but mine is more focused towards the time just not being there. For instance, if I am out of combat and cast an Immolate on a target dummy, the countdown will begin. Once i cast another one, it is erased, although the Aura check highlight will show.
Right, I have not yet tested it in combat. will do.

Vehicle button not working

Hello,

I have submited a bug report about it but in case there was an easier solution.

I keep getting this error message when I want to click on one of the 6 vehicle buttons (121 to 126) which are showing allright on my bars :

Date: 2010-10-17 17:47:28
ID: 187
Error occured in: Global
Count: 1
Message: C stack overflow
Debug:
[C]: ?
....
[C]: ?
[C]: UseAction()
..\FrameXML\SecureTemplates.lua:274: handler()
..\FrameXML\SecureTemplates.lua:540:
..\FrameXML\SecureTemplates.lua:488

I have actually erased some of the [C]: ? lines as they were a lot.

At the end I can't use the vehicle eventho the buttons are showing allright. Same for possession. And it's doing the same when I create a new bar.

Also, want to thank here again for that great addon which I am using since so many years (and when it was called Trinity as well).

Only it seems to prioritize the wrong timer.. if the buff has a longer cooldown than the buff lasts I'd like to see the buff countdown to when it's going to disappear from me first and then how long it is till I can cast it again.
I'll look into it myself.

I have looked for people asking this but seem to be the only one reporting this problem.. I have button cooldowns and text timers set.. Yes i found the secret ways.. They seem to work perfectly on the first occasion used but then work erratically after ie sometimes the text appears and sometimes it doesnt.
Is this just me?

Yes, here at Macaroons info tab there's a ling to The Official Threadon which you will find the Advanced Topics as post #6

Any questions about what keys to use to make it work, just ask me
preferably in PM to make slow down the posting in the comment a bit.

Hello all,

Does anyone know of a way to have a macro tell its button to be blank under certain conditions? When manually setting a button's icon in Macaroon, there's an option at the end of the icon list to set it as a blank button. Is there a way to get that appearance to show up on a button via macro code?

For example, if I wanted to design a button with different spells for different druid forms, I might write something like this:

/cast [form:1] Mangle(Bear Form); [form:3] Mangle(Cat Form); Wrath

It would use Mangle in bear and cat form, and Wrath in any other stance. And the icon would change in each stance to reflect this. However, if this particular button didn't have a spell defined outside of feral forms, like this:

/cast [form:1] Mangle(Bear Form); [form:3] Mangle(Cat Form)

...then the bright, ugly "?" icon would appear whenever not in Bear or Cat form. Is there a way to tell this button to be blank and outlined when not in Bear or Cat Form? (basically hiding the "?" icon)

Note: I do understand fully how stance bars work. I know I could set a bar to be different for each stance, and just set a button to blank for certain stances. That's what I always did in the past. However, I've found this to be very cumbersome to maintain (especially for druids), so I'm hoping to get away from it, writing my own macros to cover different stances and dualspec all on one set of buttons.

Thanks!

The bugs that are popping up are just a result of merging the two addons together as well as actually correcting a few issues that Extensions had. Sometimes when you fix a deep-rooted problem the side effect are other bugs One was re-scanning and adding buttons when spells were learned, companions learned, items gained. The old extensions needed a /reload to get those items in the list. This one does not

For myself right now in the current build, all flyouts are working well.
Great, haven't tried the newest update of Macaroon yet, skipped WoW for today checking in again tomorrow.

I don't remember ever having an issue with learning new spells and things with the old extensions though.

Hmm, I think I will go about tampering with the flyout code some time, see if I can get it to skip some things.. like that little arrow. Will be some fun hacking of your code. ^^ (so don't tell me where or how )

Maul, thank you for making this wonderfull addon, and constantly updating it.

Wanted to ask if there is a way to copy all spells to all stances and dual spec bars? For example, I have a druid - aqua, travel, cat, bear, moonkin stances/forms and then dual spec too - that's a lot of spell button dragging about, and being totally anal, I like all the same buttons to be in the same places on various forms.

So if I set up the spell button layout for one stance, I could then copy these easily to all forms and specs. Clearly the odd spec-specific spell wouldn't copy - but otherwise?
