Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

Self Casts

Perhaps Benecaster is a good solution for self casts?

Mirror

Please consider mirroring this and Extras on Curse so those of us that use the curse client to auto update can keep this up-to-date more easily.

Thanks

Having thought about this, I know its an issue of current Macaroon beta-testers.

That of self-casting spells.

Now we all know that a given spell (for example .. Heal) with standard blizzard bars will cast Heal on your selected target (if it can .. ie friendly) when pressed. If no target is selected then the standard is to cast it on yourself.

Not so with macros (yes, its macros, not Mauls Macaroon at fault)

This unfortunately has been effectively "breaking" Macaroon for a lot of folk, and gives the select target mouse pointer when cast with no target instead of just casting it on the player.

I simply edit all my macros that this occurence happens on to include something along the lines of...

/cast [help] [target=player] Heal

This fixes the problem. However not all are as programatically adept as myself.

Why does Maul not simply include this on all spells you ask? ... well, the problem is indeed compounded with ones that can only be cast in team or on yourself. ie "Power Word: Shield" is a classic example.
Here, if you don't have a part member selected, the default is to cast it on yourself ... however using the above macro would again give you the target select mouse pointer should you have a friendly target selected that isnt a party memver instead of casting it on yourself. The solution in this case would be;

/cast [group,help] [target=player] Power Word: Shield

Not quite sure how Maul may overcome this, but a database of spells for instant conversion when dragging them to the Macaroon bars maybe a little bloated or large for the scale of this addon given Mauls time is limited (the whole reason for ditching Trinity).

Any suggestions would be welcomed I imagine to help users/maul overcome this macro-land quirk!

Dream.

Action IDs problem

Ok, I mentioned this a few pages back and it wasn't a big deal (one button on a minor alt) but it's happening on my Main toon on a lot of buttons now...

The problem is when I set the button type to Action Button. I prefer to leave my main interface bar set as regular action buttons and use the first 24 IDs as standard Blizz ones. That way if I need to turn off (or can't use) macaroon the bliz bar still has the same buttons and functionality. Anyway, for no apparent reason it skips action IDs at times. On the eighth button I can't give it action ID eight. Yet on button nine I can set it to action ID 8. It's happened on a number of buttons (about 5 on my main toon that I've come across so far).

I'm going to keep tinkering trying to resolve the problem (probably delete and recreate the bar to see if that helps).

Love the addon but I seem to be having some serious lag issues with the bars when i enter 25 man raids. I disabled the bars and logged back in and was back to normal. Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello,

First of all thanks for such a great action bar addon. I think it's such a clean improvement over Trinity even at this stage in development.

Can you add a /slash command to hide the minimap button? I assume it just hasn't been added yet but was wondering.

Thanks and good luck.

- Nick

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that it is added in the latest version!

Thanks.

Did you know...

... Maul, you are probably one of the most responsive addon dev I've seen? Even going back to the first TrinityBars days when BC was in beta... (some token of gratitude which you may or not may see by toggling on your currency panel).

The FPS issue mentioned by others using ButtonFacade is... hrm.. pretty bad. I'm using TitanPanel (after being pretty disappointed with how fast Fubar's updated, and I've always liked TitanPanel's look'n feel anyway), which I think is another Ace3 framework addon. I do have a couple of other Ace2 addon as well... I'm not sure this is what contributes towards it, but ButtonFacade is the only one that makes the game unplayable overtime. Everything else is behaving as happily as ever.

I understand that skinning is not a priority right now, I'm perfectly happy with Macaroon as the way it is even without any skins.. just makes it a bit prettier. Even if it's never implemented, I still love Macaroon. For now, I'm content to just wait and see what happens with ButtonFacade... until they really fix it, I just won't use any skin.

Overall, Macaroon is really another huge step up from Trinity in ease of configuration, I was able to set up my character's toolbars even faster than before. Other than a hilarious incident where we wiped on Chess (because half of us didn't have a pet bar set up)... it's been a pretty smooth ride so far. Thanks for all the great work.

Off the top of my head, I would ask if you have "Button Counts" turned off in the main menu. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason this would only be happening to one character.

If the option is enabled and there are no counts, then post this issue in the bug reports section of my portal so it reminds me to look into the issue.

Edit: Try clicking the button count option on and off a few times even it is enabled. It could be the saved value is messed up. Turning it on and off should reset it.

Re: I'm not a know it all, I swear.

Sounds to me you are experiencing the API deficiency Maul documents on the addon info page, here is a direct quote:

So basically it's nothing to do with the mod, and everything to do with Blizzard not being on the ball. However, as he states above; that if you designate buttons a action ID's (instead of macro buttons) they will reflect the item count accurately, so simply designate a "Item Bar" a row or column of button and set them all to action ID's and drag and drop your charged items / potions from your bags onto them and you're good to go. Bear in mind that you CAN mix button, e.g. a Pet ID, Action ID, and Macro button can all be right next to each other on a bar, but you may get confused as to which is which sometimes, so it's best to designate a row of button so you can keep track of it. On a final note when you set Action ID button ensure that EACH and EVERY button has a unique id (a different number) otherwise if you have 2 or more with the same id number, placing an item on it will make each button with the same number show the same item, like a mirror.
Gsusnme i read the FAQ etc and that was the 1st thing i tried; to make buttons set to actions and as a old trinity user i know about seperate id's otherwise u get duplicate buttons

however this does nothing to solve the problem and indeed when i check the button edit for the character (warrior) that the amounts do show on they are set to macro.!!

that is why i posted stating it was a very weird problem and one as to one i have no idea how to fix or even reproduce on seperate characters...

now to my question

do any of you know if macaroon or any other addon would make it possible for me to have a square on the middle of my screen that shows when that buff becomes active or maybe a text that pops up telling i have it.

happy for any answers

glowie
Like the first guy to respond, I use a combat text addon to warn me when I gain a Brain Freeze, though in my case, my flavor of choice is Mik's Scrolling Battle Text (MSBT) rather than SCT. However, I use a mod called Power Auras Classic to put up a square whenever I have sheep on a mob, so that I can see very easily when it breaks. This could easily be setup to put up a square whenever you've got Brain Freeze. Best of luck!

Thanks!

Maul,

Just wanted to say thanks for making a smooth transition from Trinity to Macaroons. Couple of little snags here or there, but this seems to be an excellent roll out for a complete re-write. Thanks for making the mod.
