Ion Action Bars  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lithium 3.1.2a
by: Maul, Jrosk, SLOKnightfall, Soyier

Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.

Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!

Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:

Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars
  • add: Adds buttons to the currently selected bar (add or add #)
  • remove: Removes buttons from the currently selected bar (remove or remove #)
  • edit: Toggle edit mode for all buttons
  • bind: Toggle binding mode for all buttons
  • scale: Scale a bar to the desired size.
  • snapto: Toggle SnapTo for current bar
  • autohide: Toggle AutoHide for current bar
  • shape: Change current bar's shape
  • name: Change current bar's name
  • strata: Change current bar's frame strata
  • alpha: Change current bar's alpha (transparency)
  • alphaup: Set current bar's conditions to 'alpha up'
  • arcstart: Set current bar's starting arc location (in degrees)
  • arclen: Set current bar's arc length (in degrees)
  • columns: Set the number of columns for the current bar
  • padh: Set current bar's horizontal padding

  • lock: Lock buttons

Lithium 3.0 - Update to WoW 7.3
-Bug fixes
-FAQ rework
-PlaySound fix

Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

Self casting buttons

Great addon, it does everything i need it to do, and i would find it nearly impossible to play wow without it.

Just having 1 small problem at moment, well, more of an inconvenience.
Not sure if it Macaroon or me.

Cant get the self cast working.

I tried all the settings on the self-cast menu, and all the settings on the r-click target menu. Neither worked, in any combination. Even tried the bilz self cast options in combination.
On trinity you had the r-click self-cast option.
Any ideas on getting this working other than rewriting all the button macros with a 'r-click target self' type line added to every button?

Quick question on 'Auto generated macros' on buttons

Maul comments in the 'Instructions' on the Macaroon page that dragging a Spell to a button causes Macaroon to automatically generate a simple /cast macro for that spell. Two questions:

1 - Is that macro editable and if so where?

2 - When that Spell gains a Rank from leveling does the Rank of the Spell in the macro cast automatically pick up the latest Rank and if so is there a way to disable that feature if, for example, I want to drag a Lower Rank of that Spell to a button and have it remain at that Rank for obvious reasons?

In my action bar setup i use a total of 5 buttons and each button has a state.

normal
shift
alt
and control

in the past i would just bind 1 2 3 4 5 to the 5 buttons and place my spells in that bar.

when i would hit shift and then 1 it would execute the spell in number 1 slot while pressing shift...

now when i try to do it the 1 2 3 4 5 ONLY work when the bar is in its "normal" state...

Did you go to each page generated by the modifier keys and assign the keys to each of them? I found that assigning say the '1' key to a button in the normal state was not enough. I had to also enter Key Assignment mode (for want of a better term) and assign the '1' key to the button again. Then it worked as expected: i.e. pressing '1' for the normal page launched what was on the button and pressing 'Shift-1' launched the same Button on the Shifted Page.

Ps the only way i have been able to preserve this setup is on my warlock... when i tried to make another profile in the past it wouldn't work for my other toons...

@LSG A recent update should have this issue corrected, but you will have to re-drag the spell to the button or edit it to add () to the end.
You rock! Thanks!!

Maul,

I seem to get random "ghosting" of buttons which I've left blank (for spacing purposes). Is there a fix or is this a known issue?

See below:

The top bar actually has 8 buttons, but only one is showing, so it's not the whole bar ghosting, it seems button specific. Clicking a skill in my spell book or inventory item (which highlights the grid) and then releasing clears it...just annoying, hehehe.

Hallo,

To Maul: I have the same "problem" with the pet-Bar by my "no hunters"-Characters. The bar is normaly empty. When I click the macaroon-Minimap Button twice (enter and leave the edit-Mode) the empty petbar will invisible (no grid shown) - but at every relog, I see the grid. (Not very important bug ;-))

hi Maul,

there seems to be a slight problem with the Makro buttons
I have some bars with macro buttons but nothing in it
on every relog it shows the button grid of these buttons
if I change those "empty" Buttons to Action Buttons everything is ok

why did you change the Count Text style?
for me the numbers are fare too big now
an option to scale the text would be nice

Possession bar and offensive spells

Oki I finally got a bar working for whenever I mind control a mob, or effectively 'possess' something. Buff and healing spells from the controlled mob seem to work just fine when put on a target other then the mob. When I try to use an offensive abilities either the ability just does not acivate or its centered around the mob I have control of (for example did a kara and I was the mage guy, I went to put his aoe on an enemy piece and instead I aoe'd around me).

At first I thought it was just something I did wrong with the bar, so I got rid of the first one I had and made a new one. Off to shadow labs I went to find mobs I knew had abilities, and I was having the same issue as I did with the chess event when trying to use offensive spells. However when I mc'd a guy that could heal and buff, I could heal and buff my priest just fine.

So, I'm using the SnapTo feature a bunch to make my pet bar stick to my normal action button grid thingy, but it keeps snapping like, 20 pixels down and right of the point where it would otherwise be perfectly aligned. (No, not after I log either; in game) I have two such bars that are snapping to two other bars, if that makes a difference. Any ideas?
