Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

Rep and Microbutton errors

I've been getting 2 sets of errors regularly: one basically at every quest turn-in reputation gain and one whenever I hit the Character Info menu microbutton (error dumps below). I normally play with the sound off* as a habit from raiding, so I didn't realize just how often the errors were occurring.

Both sets of errors occur with my full UI stack enabled and with only Ion running.

This is the error that happens on login and with each rep change (haven't tested with kill-based rep gains, just quest turn-in types):
Code:
1976x Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars-Helium  2.0.1 - Legion Release.lua:316: attempt to concatenate local 'name' (a nil value)
Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars-Helium  2.0.1 - Legion Release.lua:316: in function <Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars.lua:314>
Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars-Helium  2.0.1 - Legion Release.lua:358: in function <Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars.lua:336>
Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars-Helium  2.0.1 - Legion Release.lua:2364: in function <Ion-StatusBars\Ion-StatusBars.lua:2258>

Locals:
name = nil
hasFriendStatus = false
standing = "Hated"
minrep = 0
maxrep = 0
value = 0
colors = <table> {
 a = 1
 r = 0.6
 l = "b_Hated"
 g = 0.1
 b = 0.1
}
reptable = <table> {
}
(*temporary) = nil
(*temporary) = " - Hated"
(*temporary) = "Hated"
(*temporary) = nil
(*temporary) = nil
(*temporary) = "attempt to concatenate local 'name' (a nil value)"
format = <function> defined =[C]:-1

This error fires whenever I open the character panel via the Ion menu button, but it does not fire when using the keybind:
Code:
522x [string "IonCharacterButton:OnMouseUp"]:6: attempt to call field 'UpdateMicroButtons' (a nil value)
[string "*:OnMouseUp"]:6: in function <[string "*:OnMouseUp"]:1>

Locals:
self = IonCharacterButton {
 0 = <userdata>
 tooltipText = "Character Info"
 normaltexture = IonCharacterButtonNormalTexture {
 }
 newbieText = "Information about your character, including equipment, combat statistics, and reputation."
 icontexture = <unnamed> {
 }
 Flash = IonCharacterButtonFlash {
 }
}
button = "LeftButton"
upInside = true
(*temporary) = nil
(*temporary) = "attempt to call field 'UpdateMicroButtons' (a nil value)"

*dbm still fires through the master channel, so I still get raid alerts and such, just fyi for those that might wonder

just coming back from using ElvUI for a few years, 2 things that are just completely driving me crazy setting up though.

first the extra action bars/zone bar won't go away and/or show up appropriately. i honestly would be fine not even controlling those with ION, but deleting the bars off ion seem to still block the default ones

second, i play a sub rogue, which has a complex rotation of swapping in and out of stealth and shadow dance, plus the added confusion of the subterfuge talent, which allows stealth abilities to be cast 3 seconds after stealth breaks. blizzard recently went back on a change of letting shadow dance access the stealth bar. for now i had to select both stealth and stance, which comes up as a second stealth bar when editing, so now it changes on both for stealth and shadow dance, but 2 major problems. vanish is not activating the stealth bar instantly, rather after i cast something or hit a modifier. and also, ion does not take into account subterfuge time, which i suppose wouldn't be expected except for the fact that ElvUI and (i assume) default does, and it makes the spec a lot more complicated without that switch happening

hope that makes sense. i was really looking forward to using ion again. best action bars ever

Confirming this post. ~0.5s lag when looting, selling, or consuming an item. Basically any time the inventory changes. Only occurs while the main addon is loaded. Makes it frustrating to mass sell/desposit/withdraw things as well as skin.

Fix plez :[
Just search Ion's folder for "collectgarbage" with grepwin and remove any calls of it. A call to that function looks like this: "collectgarbage()". You can remove literally anything that looks like that in any WoW addon and it'll keep working fine. It may use slightly more memory, but its performance should never suffer unless that addon is constantly creating new frames and removing references to them. I don't believe Ion does that.

In short, collectgarbage() calls are what is causing the freezes. Remove them and the freezes go away. I did and I am happier now.
Thanks for the info, I'll look into it and remove those calls.

I hope that the launch of Legion is treating everyone well. Thanks for posting issues and please continue to.

I'm looking into the lag issues and am trying to figure out what is causing it.

For the jump in memory, I'm guessing that it could be in part that a lot of new features were finally added between the Hydrogen & Helium versions. Additionally ION went from only having to keep info for 2 bars up to needing to keep track of 3 to 4 depending on the class. It is something that I'm also looking into and I'm going to make an attempt to optimize things a bit more, it is just a matter of having the time.

Is anyone aware of a good way to prevent this from happening, either via add-on, some way to set Ion buttons to block any action or some other method?

Paged Issues

Hello! Thank you thank you thank you, SLOKnightfall for keeping Trinity/Macaroon/Ion alive!

The new Legion update is great, just about everything is back to normal. However, a new little thing has popped up.

I hav an issue with a paged bar. When I log in or reload ui, paging only shows me the first two pages (eg 1 > 2 > 1 > 2 > 1 > 2 > 1 etc. ). Oddly, if I change zones via hearthstone or using a portal, the paging goes back to normal. (eg 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 > 1 etc. ).

Weird!

I've tried completely destroying the paged bar and rebuilding it from scratch, but the behavior persists. Further, I built a second paged bar for testing and it suffers the same problem.

Sooooo, I thought I'd put this out there in case anyone else is having this issue. For now, I make a habit of logging out somewhere obscure and hearthing to my garrison first thing when I log in. A little wonky, but Ion is just too worth it.

Last thing: Is there a way to buy SLOKnightfall a coke?

Thanks again bro, don't know where I'd be without your hard work.

Memory Usage

After the last update, Memory usage for Ion went up to 72MB for me, on a fresh install. Usually it was below 20MB. Wiped all saved vars, both in savedVars folder and in character specific folder. Is this intended?

Garbagecollection does not gather it all. It remains at around 72MB after the GC, so all of this is still referenced somewhere.

The last update added an option to hide the minimap button. It looks as if the default setting was set to have it hidden. You can show it again via the main settings via the interface window or by /ion menu
Ohh, I found it. I feel stupid... I double-checked my Sexymap settings but didn't bother to check Ion's.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Yeah, it's entirely possible that the issues with the grid aren't easily solvable and someone tossed that code in to avoid the side effects that I'm willing to live with so I'll manually adjust my own code for now, it's good enough for my purposes with those modifications, I rarely adjust buttons on pet bars and the workaround is simple enough when I do need to. Thanks for checking.

Unrelated question - did the recent update include fixes for dragging macros to the bar? Since I broke the LUA file by doing that I've been avoiding any macro dragging at all so I haven't gotten up the courage to test.
