Ion Action Bars  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lithium 3.1.2a
by: Maul, Jrosk, SLOKnightfall, Soyier

Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.

Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!

Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:

Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars
  • add: Adds buttons to the currently selected bar (add or add #)
  • remove: Removes buttons from the currently selected bar (remove or remove #)
  • edit: Toggle edit mode for all buttons
  • bind: Toggle binding mode for all buttons
  • scale: Scale a bar to the desired size.
  • snapto: Toggle SnapTo for current bar
  • autohide: Toggle AutoHide for current bar

Lithium 3.0 - Update to WoW 7.3
-Bug fixes
-FAQ rework
-PlaySound fix

Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

I got my old profiles as well though I did have problems with my old saved vars, at least those for the old CB and Loot modules which is now replaced.

And I have not a single problem with Macaroon save for a error message at login.

Spec swapping is broken

So I try switch specs and it keeps my old specs profile, I go to manually load the new profile and it stays on my old profile

Re: how do I set up shapeshifting bar for a druid

ok, the main thing to remember is, the game itself considers each druid form a different stance, and when you are prowling in cat form, that's an extra stance. here is a link to a chart on wowwiki showing the stances.

now, here is the directions:
  1. enable stances on a bar, by simply going into bar editing, and check the 'stance' checkbox. and, since you are a druid, hit the 'prowl' checkbox, too.
  2. then, to add buttons to the first stance, just click the part on the lower left labled 'Btns', then two right and left arrows should appear. hit the right arrow to add buttons, and the left arrow to remove them. (thing is, it only adds or removes one button at a time. if you want to add a set amount at once, then just type '/mac add ##' to add buttons, or '/mac remove ##' to remove buttons. this is without the quote marks, and replace the pound signs with the number of buttons to be added or removed.)
  3. then, to add buttons to other stances, just left click the part of the that is just above the 'btns' part, the part labeled 'Curr State', and then hit the right arrow button to move to the next state. then, repeat step 2 for each state. (i find that it's normally best to use the same number of buttons for each state. trust me.)
  4. now, once you have all the buttons for all the states added, then go back to the first state (should be 'Caster Form'), you just hit the big red 'Edit Bindings' button at the bottom of the window. then just mouse the first button to bind a key to, and hit the button you want mapped to it. then, repeat for the next button, and so on till the first state is done. if you want to clear the bindings of a button, just mouse over the button, and hit the 'Esc' button.
  5. now, once you have the first state set up with bindings, those bindings should have been copied to the buttons in the other states that line up.

Appears to be completely broken

I've been running Macaroon forever, but since Cataclysm have had loads of problems with it -- mainly to do with dual spec and alert bars. So, I bit the bullet and complete uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and built my action bars back from the ground up. Initially all was well, but after playing for an hour or so, peculiar things started to happen like the inability to add new spells to bars or to even edit the bars. Inspecting the BugSack log, I could see that Macaroon was throwing tons of errors. Now I've reached the state where only one or two of my 6 or so bars even displays, and that's after completely exiting the game and reentering.

I'm running Macaroon 40000.2.1 along with Xtras (.1.3), Status Bars (.1.3), and Alerts (.1.2).

Is anyone else seeing behavior like this? I've been a faithful Macaroon user from way back. Heck, I even bought Maul a coke! The last thing I would want to do is abandon Macaroon for something else, but I'm afraid the time may be at hand.

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I am pretty sure they did something with the restart this morning...I'm having troubles with the dual spec AGAIN, just like the first two weeks of Cata...

Memory Leak?

I make my own UI and have an addiction for addons, so I try to keep an eye on addon memory usage. I've noticed my Macaroon memory usage going up as high as 28MB. It can jump up and down drastically in a short amount of time - even just sitting in Org while not actually doing anything, but for the most part it just increases over time. For example, I just took a peek and Macaroon had climed to 17mb, and my Dk is just standing in Org. I did a garbage collection via BrokerCPU and it dropped down to 3.4mb. A minute later and it was up to 6.4mb and climbing. In the time it took me to type that, it was up to over 8mb, so it gobbles additional memory pretty quickly.

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this but I'm not sure what I can do for troubleshooting. I am getting a new gaming computer soon; just waiting for them to finishing building it and I should have it in a couple of weeks. I plan to redo my WoW install and UI from scratch in hopes of improving game performance. I'll let you know if I still notice memory issues with Macaroon or if that fixes things.

i'm not sure how much more info I can give, according to FuBar_PerformanceFu, macaroon is sometimes at 15mb addon memory, and sometimes it appears as if macaroon has a "memory leak" and causes my game to slow to a crawl until I /reloadui

it's not like i'm doing anything crazy with macaroon, I simply have some bars I made and put spells and such on them, this is with a clean install recently too.

I cannot get my discipline bars in that profile, along with all the macros I made, go into my Main spec. I am using 4.0.1.11

I tried disabling dualspec on every bar, but all that does is delete the discipline macros and reverts to the shadow macros I had.
I don't feel like copy and pasting each macro one by one.
Is there a simple way?

I gather you dont use the profile swap which means yoeu have one profile and not two.
I know that using the profile swap theres 3 ways to do it.
Not using the profile swap I can only take a chance on one eay and the other way in mind is to manually cut & paste the data in the file for the profile.

The longshot is to disable Macaroon, log in, change spec, log out, enable Macaroon again and log in.
If this works Macaroon is fooled to believe you are in the opposite spec and therefor show the right spells.
