Ion Action Bars  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lithium 3.1.2a
by: Maul, Jrosk, SLOKnightfall, Soyier

Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.

Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!

Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:

Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars
  • add: Adds buttons to the currently selected bar (add or add #)
  • remove: Removes buttons from the currently selected bar (remove or remove #)
  • edit: Toggle edit mode for all buttons
  • bind: Toggle binding mode for all buttons
  • scale: Scale a bar to the desired size.
  • snapto: Toggle SnapTo for current bar
  • autohide: Toggle AutoHide for current bar
  • shape: Change current bar's shape
  • name: Change current bar's name
  • strata: Change current bar's frame strata

Lithium 3.0 - Update to WoW 7.3
-Bug fixes
-FAQ rework
-PlaySound fix

Helium 2.1.1 - Bug fixes

Helium 2.1 - Update to WOW 7.2
- Removed legacy morph spell code
- Removed legacy trap launcher code
- Code clean up
- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.
- Added flyout macro generator to the button editor window.

Still no idea how to make the buttons from caster form appear on travel form, flight form and aquatic form though, can you explain how to do that ?
So it seems BF was causing issues. It still got me to tighten up Macaroon's code

Go into bar config mode, go to the test edit options, remap the desired states to "Caster Form".

Hi I just want to add that Satrina's Buff Bars Addon was having performance issues with BF as well. Dont know if these problems share the same source with Macaroons! This seems to be fixed now and its stated that users should download a BF version from Curse.com which was uploaded yesterday (October 21st)

hi! versions 24 thru 24.2 are ignoring spellbook bindings, and using default bliz bindings if any of those keys are assigned there. also won't let you bind anything in the spellbook if you've got binding open. i keep having to roll back to 22.12 =(
macro binding working fine however.

Quoting Satrina in the SBF thread :
A-ha!

Found another error in ButtonFacade where it would create an infinite number of frames instead of re-using ones it had created previously. That explains the ever-increasing memory count that is not attributed to any addon. Hammering SBF+BF right now at 600 buffs/second and everything looks perfect.

I'll do a bit more checking in the BF code and release it to Curse in a bit. Also Beta 13 will come with the BF disable option, just in case.
So it seems that everything should be ok shortly with Button Facade

Found a serious bug in the latest version, and I'm not entirely sure how to replicate it:

3 buttons I was using for Blizzard macros have become "linked" so that I cannot change one without changing the other two. If I add a macro or ability, all 3 gain that macro or ability. If I remove the ability from one, all 3 get removed.

This is occurring on normal Macaroon bars with no special stances or states. This pretty much cripples my ability to configure the game.

EDIT: Interesting observation: The linked buttons are #45, #55, #65. Note that each button is a "x5".

Go figure...

Anyway, thx for the quick reply, keep up the good work!

(I apologize for not quoting the prior discussion as it was a week or two ago. I couldn't find the posts.)

I was asking about bar states and setting them for druids, so that flight form/travel form would "default" to the "caster" bar. You mentioned you had some name for this and was planning to implement it. I understand you're doing this for free and that you spend a tremendous amount of time and effort with this project, don't get me wrong. I'm just curious if/when you think you might implement this as it is a feature I'm very excited about

Thanks for all your hard work.

You most likely have buttons set to type "action" and all 3 share the same action ID. Go into button edit mode - /mac edit - and change them back to macros or give them unique action IDs.

The new state remap feature is, well, new I was not sure about prior setups, as there is a default statemap that Macaroon should use for stances. Re-creating the bar from scratch should correct any incompatible data, or as you have done, trying to set it a few times to have it re-write the new data.

Yup, this was added, we were just talking about it below

Go into bar config mode - /mac config - and right-click the bar. Go to the text edit options (use the prev/next arrows at the bottom) then remap the desired states to a new state. This is a per-bar setting and only is availble to paged and stance bars.

On my warrior with the latest version of this addon, when I shift from beserker stance to battle stance the bar becomes blank and i have to go to config mode and left click on the bar to cycle through the stances til it gets back to battle stance and they show up again. This happens every time i shift from any stance to battle stance.

Edit: instead of left clicking on it to cycle through it, I right clicked and clicked button count and added the buttons back and that seems to have fixed it.

My apologies for not seeing this, and thank you!

Final quick question before I make the plunge and switch to Macaroon for all 10 characters--can you "save" button setups and switch between them for respecs? I currently rearrange my bars for difference specs and use ActionBarSaver and it is invaluable for quickly switching around.

PS: Your support is amazing.

My button and bag bars are still failing to stay anchored to the menu bar when I log in.

Changing the "state" of a bar everytime I left-click it is really annoying when I'm trying to move stuff around!

Right-clicking my pet's growl ability doesn't toggle its auto-cast when it's on a macaroon button -- still works from the spell book.
