"pet" bars for things like Chess

Some of my guildmates and I got bored and ran Kara last night, first time ever in there since the new patch and switching to Macaroon from Trinity, but I encounted a nasty problem I don't know the solution to.

What is it I have to do in order to get the "pet" bar for the chess pieces (and other such events that feature things like it) to display the icons for the thing I'm controlling?

I tried setting up a bar dedicated to just "Pet" with open button slots on it (as well as "Possessed" i think it is), but nothing ever happened. Back with Trinity it was just the pet bar that did all that stuff.

1)I shall continue to investigate the mysteriously misbehaving bag/menu bars.

2) Left-click changes the state. Left-drag moves them. Don't click before you drag

3) Are you using /cast growl or a pet id? I just checked and pet id based pet buttons seem to work fine in toggling autocast abilities. As for macros, well you have to write that in yourself

/#showtooltip Growl
/petautocasttoggle [btn:2] Growl
/cast [btn:1] Growl

"Pet" is solely for pets. "Possess" is for events like kara chess. However, they both use "pet" buttons. You must edit the buttons - /mac edit - and change the buttons to type "pet id:#", each with a unique id number.

Count on Macaroon Xtras Bag bar

Is there any way to display a count on the bag bar in Macaroon Xtras? I noticed in the change log you added colors, but I can not seem to find any way to add a count to the bar. Thanks.

When you toggle the option in the default UI options, it will make it show on Macaroon's bags.

I can't not click before I drag, you have it triggering on mouse down! :-P
How bout an option to require a modifier key for the state change?

And it's a pet ID button. I didn't know I could make macros like that.

Custom state question.

Hi,

I love this mod. Hopefully someone can help me out. I'm trying to create two custom states for my priests main bar (Bar1):

Aggressive
Defensive

I then intend to create two macros, one to set the state of the bar to Aggressive and one to set it to Defensive. I'll bind these to my mouse wheel.

However, I'm having trouble figuring out the custom states. I can create the two states using the UI and toggle between them by clicking on the bar in config mode, but I can't seem to get the syntax right to switch states from the console.

Any help would be appreciated.

Zombie event

My custom possess bar doesn't seem to be working for the zombie event.

When I switch to zombie, it correctly changes to [bonusbar:5], but continues reflecting my pet's actions instead of possess actions (since Macaroon doesn't currently distinguish between the two)

Using the following as 'custom':

[bonusbar:5]
[stance:1]
[stance:2]
[stance:3]
[stance:5]
[]

Also, for some reason, editing custom drops the [] from the list and the bar won't work properly until I re-add it

Okay, you got me on that one...I forgot I changed bars to respond to down clicks to add the new "green mode" adjustment feature. I have corrected it for the next version. No modifier needed, though, I just have the bar check for a down click and only act depending on what kind of click it is.

As for a pet-id button not triggering autocast...I forget, are you using the English client?

A bar can only respond to what Blizzard allows. The syntax of custom conditions is the same as for macros. If there is no macro condition found here - Macro Guide - then it can't be done.

I have not done anything in Northrend really. I am saving the fun for when WotLK goes live. However, I do have some level 80 PvP premades on Murmur. If you tell me how to go about getting to the point of the zombie event, I will check it out.

However, I do have one question. Usually when you possess something and you have a pet (hunter or warlock) your pet vanishes for the time being. So, in this event, does your pet remain? And if you use the main Blizz bar, do you have a Blizz pet bar and a Blizz possess bar with different actions?

Thanks for the reply.

By create a macro, I just mean add a button I can click to run macaroon commands. For example, I show / hide a bar with the following:

/mac hidden Bar10

So, if I can create a paged bar, is there a way for me to run a macaroon command to set it to a specific page?

Changing bars & keybinds

Hi Maul! Really like the addon so far. Having a problem though with changing bars and keybinds.
Changing bars - I used the 'cahangeactiobar' command you mentioned in an earlier post. This changed the page on my Bar1; however it also changed the page on another paged bar I had! Is there any way to change pages on one particular bar, or to swap bars?
Keybinds - In my Bar 1 I have pages called by 'CTRL' and 'Alt', I set up binds on page1 np and also the 'Ctrl' page. When I pressed 'Alt' the 'Ctrl' binds were on this bar too. To correct this (you've probably guessed!) I had to Mouseover button 1 and press 'Alt', 'Esc' - got pushed into Windows! The way round this is very tedious I had to go into bar edit, page through until I got to 'Page - Alt' then press 'Esc' and then bind; however, this took me back to page one! So binding one button takes about 8 key presses. Is there an easier way? As an aside surely most people would expect bar pages to repeat the binds of the main bar?

This is the event that just started on the live servers pre-WOTLK release.
However, I do have one question. Usually when you possess something and you have a pet (hunter or warlock) your pet vanishes for the time being. So, in this event, does your pet remain? And if you use the main Blizz bar, do you have a Blizz pet bar and a Blizz possess bar with different actions?
I'm experimenting with that right now. I'm not entirely sure what the zombie event does differently -- testing shows it uses the regular possess action IDs (121 thru 132) and my pet DOES desummon. In my wife's case, it happened on her paladin with the same trouble, no pets involved. Strangely, the error when using regular abiltiies is "You cannot use that while shapeshifted" or whatnot.

For now as a workaround I'm hacking my copy of the source to allow action IDs 121 thru 132 to be assigned, so I'll force my 'possess' bar to those action IDs rather than pet actions. Also, /scold for hardcoding 120 in the source so I need to change it all over the place. No idea whether that'll work or not, as I died and my 6 minutes before release expired.

(Action IDs checked with the sample code at http://www.wowwiki.com/ActionSlot)

Oh, hehe, I have not really even played the pre-patch :P Been busy! I have actually been in beta sitting at Howling Fjord in Northrend testing stuff or jumping into an AV match on live to test group stuff.

I will check it out, though. The 120 stuff is from my Trinity Bars borrowed code. Originally, in Macaroon I had no intention of adding an action button type of button. But certain things forced my hand The trinity bars code was from before they introduced the possess state and I never got possession fully integrated into Trinity.

The 121-132 angle might work, though. I will test and investigate
