Sunn - Viewport Art   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Sunn's Viewport Art allows you to change the size of the rendered world area (viewport) and adds textured artwork in the non-rendered areas.

v3.1 Update: This addon no longer uses the fubar / minimap icon. Settings are now available in the standard Interface>Addons menu.

Click here to lend your support!

Usage

Use /sunnart (or /sunn or /sa) for options

Keybindings

Bind a key in the wow options to show/hide the UI and SunnArt graphics

Art Packs

Art packs are optional and should be installed as if they were separate addons (although they are useless without the SunnArt addon).

Extract the zipped folder into your interface/addons folder for it to function.

Previews of the artwork in the packs are available in the screenshots on this page.

Custom Artwork

It's not difficult to create your own artwork if you have the right tools:
  • Resize your artwork to 1536*256 (1536x512 for wider panels)
  • Divide your artwork into 3 similar sized panels, left, centre and right, each with dimensions 128, 256 or 512 (these are the only dimensions that WoW will support).
  • Save each panel as (or convert them to) Targa (.tga) format and place then in the Interface/Addons/SunnArt folder with the names custom1.tga, custom2.tga and custom3.tga.
  • Select "Custom" from the themes menu in the options in-game.

eg. the left panel should be called custom1.tga, the center panel called custom2.tga and the right panel called custom3.tga.

To set an overlap (for artwork containing transparency) please see the CustomTheme.lua file.

To add addition custom themes, please see the CustomTheme.lua file.

CustomTheme.lua should be opened in any plain text editor such as notepad.

Submitting Artwork

If you have artwork that you would like to submit for Art Pack 10 and onward, please mail it to sunnart@uksf.com and if I like it then I will include it in the next release.

It's main function is to change the resolution of the 3D game world (ie, the viewport). Obviously this would normally create black space around the game world which this addon replaces with textured panels for you to place your interface controls and other 2D elements in.

The viewport functionality of the addon can be disabled so that the panels overlay the game world.

I used to run it as a viewport to get a "widescreen" game world on my 4:3 monitor while making use of all that wasted space it would create. After a while I realised that there is alot of space below my character in the game world that I don't really need to see so I now run it with the panels on top of the game world (viewport disabled).

If you are not sure what it does then i suggest you install it and play with the options.

Error changing solid colors color.

Whenever I try to change the color of the solid color option I get an error. I pick out the color, it changes the color of the background and all, but whenever I click ok I get the following message.

[string "*:OnClick"]:1: attempt to index local 'self' (a nil value)

If I try to change the background color of my chatbox before I try sunnarts then it works fine, but if I try sunnarts first, then I get the error every time I try to change the color for anything.

Tried this with all addons disabled except sunnart, and also with other addons enabled. So it leads me to believe its a problem with sunnart.

I will get to work on it the moment I get into the expansion - probably at release. But expect the next version to be out within a day or two of it being generally available.

Thanks for letting me know.

It's very easy, just copy the format from an artpack and modify the lua. Or you could send the artwork to me and I'll do it for you.

Excellent mod.

I have been wanting something like this for a while to bring my entire UI together.

Now for a nasty evil bug report that you may not have any control over.

In WotLK Beta, if you use this mod and have shadows turned on to the max and then set the setting to redo the veiwport to the new area, it moves all the shadows to be not connected to what they should be shadowing.

So I disabled this part, cause I want my shadow attached to my character

So don't know if you can fix that, but is working great in Beta.

Themes

I would love some of the more artistic people around here to contribute to this addon. I'm no artist, but I'd be happy to incorporate peoples ideas into an art-pack addon for this.
