I don't have WoW on this PC, so I can't log and check it for you, but I believe you could create a new bar, and in the second tab of options bind it to bags maybe? I'll get back to you once I've checked it, but it's worth a try. Alternatively, if you haven't logged in since (unlikely, I know), you can restore your lua.bak.

Noted. then I don't really know what's made it work for me, except perhaps the fact I didn't mess up Macaroon by installing the update and not applying the patch(by hand) before logging on to wow again after patch. so I never had My bars disappear at all.

Same here - but when I check the .toc file for Xtras, it says 30000.11 and I still get the 'busted backpack' problem. Wowmatrix is installing these updates from this site, and because this site itself is having a problem (another poster said that the .12 is here, but that the admins, for one reason or another, are not releasing it to us), then every autoupdater will fail to update this addon.

anyone know how we can address this via the admins?

I've gone to svn.wowinterface.com and it doesn't list a public folder for any macaroon mods. They're all marked private. What's so crazy hard about telling someone how to access the SVN? Why all the mystery about this?

I gave up and started using bartender 4. It has no curves or circles for bar shapes, and zero macro functions, but its doing the job.

The versions wowmatrix states I have installed is:
30000.30 | 30000.30 - Macaroon
30000.11 | Module - MacaroonBound
30000.11 | Module - MacaroonCB
30000.11 | Module - MacaroonLoot
30000.11 | Module - MacaroonXP
30000.12 | 30000.12 - MacaroonXtras

so seemingly it worked for me. I haven't checked the actual files for version number though as it works for me.

As for Maul logging in.. well on WoW I don't know. since I'm not on his server.... and here.... sure it says latest activity. doesn't mean he actually did something else but log in to look at something then back out. if it even was him at all... Might have been his pal again.

The number of 0s are correct. 30'000.12

I lost all my bars, but I have the core Macaroon functional and ready to rebuild (not that big a deal to me).

However, everything I've read says I need Macaroon Xtras 30000.12 and while this portal says that's the version available, when I download, its still 30000.11 and I just get the busted backpack button.

All of that has been covered in the comments section of Macaroon page.

In Macaroon_bars.lua there is 1 line with:
UIParent, "SecureHandlerStateTemplate,SecureHandlerShowHideTemplate")
Change it to:
UIParent, "SecureHandlerStateTemplate")

which makes the bars appear again.

Only, since you have logged on wow. (hopefully only once and back out again)
You will still have some problems with the bars showing if I've understood things correctly by others explanations. But you can restore them by taking the .lua.bak files in your characters saved variables folder and use them to overwrite the .lua of the same name. NOTE: this only works if you've only logged on once per toon since wow saves the settings on every logout to the .lua.bak file.

Look for files starting with Macaroon...
I'd think.. if it's only the loot, bags, menu, castbar & XP/REP bars you have trouble with you only need to delete the MacaroonXtras, MacaroonBound, MacaroonCB, MacaroonXP & MacaroonLoot files.

I'd just move em to some other folder though just to still have em somewhere.
