Capping is just another battleground timer mod with some extras.

Current Features:
  • All battlegrounds/arenas have start timers
  • Alterac Valley - Node timers, auto quest turnins, and sync
  • Arathi Basin - Node timers and final score estimation
  • Eye of the Storm - Flag respawn timer, flag carrier display, and final score estimation
  • Isle of Conquest - Node timers and siege engine timer
  • Warsong Gulch - Flag respawn timer and flag carrier display with health percent
  • Wintergrasp - Start timer, wall alerts, and auto show zone map
  • Zone Map - Change scale, narrow, and hide border
  • Other - Port expiration timers, queue wait timers, scoreboard/capture bar/vehicle seat repositioning
  • Looking For Group - LFGStatusIcon support for LFD wait/port timers

How to use:
  • Show options - "/capping" or right-click on a timer bar/anchor
  • Toggle anchor - left-click on a timer bar or use options menu
  • Send time info to SAY - shift left-click on that timer bar
  • Send time info to BG - ctrl left-click on that timer bar
  • Hide timer bar (also leaves queue if related) - ctrl, shift, or alt right-click on that timer bar
  • Target carrier (in WSG or EotS) - left-click on the carrier's display
  • Send carrier info to BG - ctrl left-click on the carrier's display

Why no auto-release and auto-join?:
  • I try not to promote bad habits in my mods.
  • No auto-release because knowing when you should or should not release is a part of being a smart player in battlegrounds. For example, say there is five seconds left to capture blacksmith and you die there. Auto-release will send you to the starting area, but if you wait five seconds, you release to blacksmith graveyard.
  • Another reason not to use auto-release is to have time to spy on the flag carrier after a failed kill attempt.
  • Auto-join was useful when there were single queues and long wait time/afk time. Today is different, of course.
  • I'm not telling you how to play, just giving you my reasons.

Why no convenient "Incoming" and such buttons?:
  • The users and I had a discussion about this before when Capping was on wowace. If spoiled, the users would not type something important if there's no lazy way to do it. Am I right?.
  • Messages probably no mod covers:
    1. Incoming? Well, how many? From which direction?
    2. Incoming BS. Oh wait, they're going LM now.
    3. Incoming BS, but we're all here already. I mean fight at the flag, they're capping.
    4. Need help at MT...3 enemies behind
    5. Incoming DR...3 stealth
    6. Flag carrier going ramp side, almost dead
    7. Flag carrier on the way up the roof, behind tree
    8. ...and so on
  • Don't you love seeing "INCOMING BS" "INCOMING BS" "INCOMING BS" with 2 enemies incoming and 5 people already defending? After about 5 more come to help chase these 2 kills, you get spammed "BS CLEAR".
  • Plenty of standalone mods that do this, so use those if needed.

Known issues:
  • Narrow map setting will not work if Mapster is installed. Disabling the battlemap module in Mapster will fix this.

THe only thing im not sure about is the refinery, because blizzard didnt translate it yet

i'll edit in the engineevents later, just need a clear logfile

Ps: i think you should add the big siege engine timer.
I think it is reliable.
1) It starts once the workshop is captured which you can get from bg_system_X events
2) The goblin that repairs the engine yells _
- once he starts repairing
- while he's working on it
- once the engine is repaired&ready to use

I already got a working version. Isle of Conquest on PTR is still far from complete, so I'll wait for the next major patch before I release a beta.

1. Scanning for gate health is unreliable (someone has to keep their cursor over the three gates and spam info over the addon channel). I mean unreliable as in sometimes you get the information, most times you don't (sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong, etc).
2. I already got a beta version of that working (5 resources, 2 bases).
3. Capping does not spam raid chat/warning with messages. If you ignore the messages already shown, you'll ignore addon messages too.
4. You mean just the one big siege engine (not the little demolishers)? I think that will be unreliable also.
5. Again unreliable information.
6. Useless info. They already have a buff icon, and you'll have to click on every enemy. If you really need this, your buff/unit frame mods should have support.
7. The same start timer in other battlegrounds also work for IoC.

All of the stuff you requested are also left out of other battlegrounds for a reason (Alterac, Strands, Wintergrasp). Players depending on unreliable info can really hurt your chance of winning, so unless there are sure ways, those features will be left out.

How about an alpha with support for the isle of conquest?

I can provide a few logfiles , although there are a few german expressions in it and the translation by blizzad is sometimes wrong .

I have the following suggestions what could be useful:

1) Status&HP of the enemygates and your own

2) Timer for the capture of each of the bases including the flag in the homebase for each faction

3)A BIG WARNING if the enemy general gets kited out of his room and gets his enrage buff

4)If you capture the base in the middle , show a 3m timer for the repair of the siege engine. (which resets if the alliance either destroys the siege engine or captures the workshop)

5)HP of both generals.

6) Notify if a player is carrying bombs if you mouseover/target him/her.
Maybe even if they place bombs so you can dismantle them

7) Provide a timer till the bg starts/gates open.
(game announces 2m,1m, 30sek, 15sec. start)

There is a new 20minutes Limit in Warsong on the PTR, we could need a timer for that as well

You need an additional mod to display that. From the top of my head, I know Cartographer and Mapster does this.

Colored Dots?

Possibly to do with the addon, Im not sure. In the screenshot of Capping it shows the players have class colored dots. Ingame, when I use Capping, the players are the normal yellow dots. Is there an option in Capping / Interface Options that lets me see them colored?

I just wanted to stop in here and thank you for your efforts on this addon. It is very simple and effective. I am a minimal-addons player, but I consider Capping indispensable (along with an addon to anchor tooltips to my mouse).

I play a lot of Battlegrounds and I think your addon actually makes the game more fun and playable. I am very surprised that Blizzard has not taken steps to "home-bake" something based on your excellent work (in the model of Scrolling Combat Text).

Can the spark be disabled on the timer bars? If not, could you please add an option to disable this in a future version?

I also noticed that the timer font appears to be one size smaller than the name font. For example, if I specify a font size of 11, the name will be displayed with the correct size, but the timer font will be size 10. Was this intended? Is there any way for me to make the font sizes the same for both the name and timer text?

Auto-syncing, as many witnessed, is becoming a major cause of addon lag. I've noticed that only one in four AV with a full raid had a successful timer sync; also most of the time remaining chat messages are not from Capping. This means a small fraction of users have Capping, so syncing is not worth the performance hit.

Same can be said for WSG. Scanning targets with the flag buff is no problem for friendlies, but it's really taxing and unreliable for enemies.

How about having it request a sync automatically when you zone into a bg? Just a thought, after i had to hunt down Request Sync after getting in to a well underway AV

I think that's also easier to read than 2.5 hours, although you get used to the latter also. Ideally of course it would be "2h 30 mn" but I don't think it's a big bother.

On a side not though, I'd like to suggest something: in Warsong Gulch, the flag carrier's name is only updated on the score frame from the BG neutral announcements in chat. It would be nice if Capping could also react to PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED, and scan the current target's buffs from Silverwing Flag (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=23335) and Warsong Flag (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=23333).
