Capping is just another battleground timer mod with some extras.

Current Features:

  • All battlegrounds/arenas have start timers
  • Alterac Valley - Node timers, auto quest turnins, and sync
  • Arathi Basin - Node timers and final score estimation
  • Eye of the Storm - Flag respawn timer, flag carrier display, and final score estimation
  • Isle of Conquest - Node timers and siege engine timer
  • Warsong Gulch - Flag respawn timer and flag carrier display with health percent
  • Wintergrasp - Start timer, wall alerts, and auto show zone map
  • Zone Map - Change scale, narrow, and hide border
  • Other - Port expiration timers, queue wait timers, scoreboard/capture bar/vehicle seat repositioning
  • Looking For Group - LFGStatusIcon support for LFD wait/port timers

How to use:
  • Show options - "/capping" or right-click on a timer bar/anchor
  • Toggle anchor - left-click on a timer bar or use options menu
  • Send time info to SAY - shift left-click on that timer bar
  • Send time info to BG - ctrl left-click on that timer bar
  • Hide timer bar (also leaves queue if related) - ctrl, shift, or alt right-click on that timer bar
  • Target carrier (in WSG or EotS) - left-click on the carrier's display
  • Send carrier info to BG - ctrl left-click on the carrier's display

Why no auto-release and auto-join?:
  • I try not to promote bad habits in my mods.
  • No auto-release because knowing when you should or should not release is a part of being a smart player in battlegrounds. For example, say there is five seconds left to capture blacksmith and you die there. Auto-release will send you to the starting area, but if you wait five seconds, you release to blacksmith graveyard.
  • Another reason not to use auto-release is to have time to spy on the flag carrier after a failed kill attempt.
  • Auto-join was useful when there were single queues and long wait time/afk time. Today is different, of course.
  • I'm not telling you how to play, just giving you my reasons.

Why no convenient "Incoming" and such buttons?:
  • The users and I had a discussion about this before when Capping was on wowace. If spoiled, the users would not type something important if there's no lazy way to do it. Am I right?.
  • Messages probably no mod covers:
    1. Incoming? Well, how many? From which direction?
    2. Incoming BS. Oh wait, they're going LM now.
    3. Incoming BS, but we're all here already. I mean fight at the flag, they're capping.
    4. Need help at MT...3 enemies behind
    5. Incoming DR...3 stealth
    6. Flag carrier going ramp side, almost dead
    7. Flag carrier on the way up the roof, behind tree
    8. ...and so on
  • Don't you love seeing "INCOMING BS" "INCOMING BS" "INCOMING BS" with 2 enemies incoming and 5 people already defending? After about 5 more come to help chase these 2 kills, you get spammed "BS CLEAR".
  • Plenty of standalone mods that do this, so use those if needed.

Known issues:
  • Narrow map setting will not work if Mapster is installed. Disabling the battlemap module in Mapster will fix this.

Capping has no maps; it just modifies Blizzard's. Shift-M or change the options on the top-left corner of your world map.

Hmm, only if Capping provided an alternative to bringing up the leader board. Plus, I believe if I touch the icon, I might have to worry about being compatible with minimap mods.

Intentional. I'm really against auto-announce features. Also, providing a convenient way of sending timers to chat is only meant for being in the heat of battle (not for wait or queue timers).

Wintergrasp start time announcement

It appears Shift click of wintergrasp timer does not send to say the time. As well, while I am bring it up. Could you set up a hotkey click to send it to Guild chat or any chat that is open? Also, probably slightly beyond the scope of this mod, could it be setup to auto announce an hour, half hour, 15 mins, 5 mins remaining and actual start for wintergrasp to guild.

BTW, really loving Capping after switching over to it, really nice job on this addon

Small request, how hard would it be to have all the timer bars grow in one direction from the anchor? I would like all my bars to grow down from where I put the anchor, but some are above it and some timers are below it, anyway to possible implement this?

Excellent job on the Wintergrasp timers.

One small bug however: the 15 min yell by the NPC in Dalaran starts the 5 min bar instead. If I'm not mistaken, this part of the code is the culprit:

if strfind(a1, "5") then
  StartWinterGraspTimer(5 * 60)
elseif strfind(a1, "15") then
  StartWinterGraspTimer(15 * 60)
The number "5" is also in the number "15", so it will never do the second condition of your if statement.

Adding spaces around the numbers should fix that nicely. I just confirmed the yells in-game. There are spaces around the numbers on both sides.

EDIT: Or even swapping your conditions around. Checking for 15 first, then 5 should do the trick.

I fixed the Wintergrasp bar length issue in the next update. For other BGs, it's intentional for start timers to behave that way. I may reduce the max length to 1 minute since it seems EotS is the only BG with a two-minute timer.

Especially in Wintergrasp, the timer is frequently tiny because it's counting down a half-hour duration in a timer designed for 2.5 hours. This sort of thing also happens frequently in other BGs, but not nearly as severely as in WG. I'd prefer if it just created full-length timers every time.

Nope. I don't believe many people use this mod to make this feature useful. I may add some type of synchronization, maybe with other mods.

Hello,

I am a longtime user of the defunct Battlefield Commander 2. I keep going back to it because of several features, the most important of which is the custom minimap which shows teammates in combat as a red dot. This helps me make important decisions in Warsong.

Is this a simple change or option that could be added to Capping?
