Basic setup with options

Cellular

Cellular is an instant messenger mod (for only whispers) based on the functionality of an old version of ForgottenChat.

Features:

Many appearance options
History log
A way to copy text
Reuse of the default chat editbox
Whispers shown in separate windows or a tab-based single window
Should work with most spam filter mods
...and other basic IM features

How to Use:

"/cellular", check Interface Options->AddOns, or right-click a window for options
Left-click a window to toggle the editbox
Left-click a tab to activate it
Shift-left-click and drag a window to move
Shift-left-click and drag bottom-right corner to resize
Right-click a tab for show/close/options dropdown
Middle-click a tab to close
Hold ctrl and close any window/tab to quick remove from history
Several convenient buttons (some require shift clicking for confirmation reasons)

Note: if you have history enabled and notice that Cellular is using a lot of memory, you should cleanup your history entries using Cellular's history options. Furthermore, if you cherish your history, you can back up the saved variables file and then delete it. You can view it in any text editor later. The location of the saved variables file is here:
...\WTF\Account\<Account Name>\<Server Name>\<Character Name>\SavedVariables\Cellular.lua

Recently, I had some requests for donation info, so here it is. Do not feel obligated; donations (or lack of) will not determine what features I do or do not implement.

- added checks to make sure other mods don't break Cellular

I'm not saying that Cellular is not causing it; I'm trying to get proof that Cellular is getting it all by itself (not in combination with other mods). In other words, it's not an addon conflict. I don't know what's so hard about running Cellular by itself (alone, just Cellular, one mod) and then see if you get the error. Nobody since the first bug report ever tried.

Also, how can people like a mod if it's crashing their computer? How did they get a chance to try it in the first place? Again, that makes me think that they're just piling on the chat history and not managing it. History got too big and crashed the game. Wipe, clean, and/or disable your history.

I tried disabling every addon I have 1 by 1, and finally when I disabled cellular the error stops popping up. I really hope you'll fix it, since I absolutely love this addon. WIM doesn't 'feel' the same.

And the issue has been examined for weeks after those reports. I worked with people thru PMs and fix the error for them, I've added several history features, and I've provided instructions on the addon description page on ways to manage your history. I released a major update back in April and inform users of the history usage, and the error rarely occurs anymore. Still, the several people who still have this issue are using massive mods such as Recount, Pitbull, QuestHelper, etc, and are not confirming that running Cellular by itself is causing those errors. I cannot account for all the user specs and addon usage.

And please quote what I've said that's unprofessional. From what I've seen, I fulfilled one of your requests, you suddenly get the critical error, and then I explained the situation. Plus this is not a business.

If you're using an auto-invite mod, then it should be that mod handling the chat filters. Cellular is compatible with the universal chat filter provided by Blizzard.

It can be extremely spammy when people whisper you with an invite keyword and you pretty much lose any real whispers during that time. Thanks.

Author will now argue in his unprofessional manner as he did then, and his addon will keep crashing your wow. You'll disable Cellular, crashing will go away and you will be still told by author it's not Cellular's fault.

My solution is to use WIM with Skinner, which makes it look nearly as neat as Cellular, and most importantly, does not crash your game.

If i disable Cellular there's no problems.. try disabling anything else and no good.

i use:
Arkinventory, Atlasloot Enhanced, Bartender4, Chatter, Chinchilla, DBM, Omen Threat Meter, OmniCC, Pitbull 3, Recount, Wardrobe..

i have kinda put up with this for last couple of months hoping each version that came out would fix it.. i really love this mod and don't wanna part with it. Currently using the very latest 3.1.002.

Every since the new patch I get the same issue. I was hoping that your post would be addressed somehow but it hasn't yet. I love using Cellular and I am not fond of WIM so I basically am without a chat mod atm. I can load Cellular as my only addon and still get crashes whenever I attempt to log into a toon. I haven't had any troubles at all until 3.2. I have wiped my addons and WTF/cache and always get this error when Cellular is enabled.

I've looked at Prat's code to provide support for its chat sounds, no collaborating required. In my opinion, Prat should just use a second SetPoint instead of SetWidth for undocking. Anyway, sorry, no option to disable it. Be proud of your ability to code and freedom of choice.

Yea, just found that out. Use the previous version for now since it doesn't add anything new except 3.2 class color support. I'll wait til 3.2 to release the fix.

But in 3.1 it seems to bring another color problem: new whispers tab text is now white instead of former red. I assume it's some kind effect of class coloring, since I couldn't find a way to actually change the color of said text. Or I'm blind and I missed it

Would it be possible to extend that option, or add a new option to fade the whole window too? Right now the whole window only becomes invisible when I manually close all tabs. But it would be awesome if it would disappear on it's own at the same time old messages are faded. Many thanks in advance if this could be added ).

The windows do have a name, but you have to know where to check. Check an area w/o buttons or w/o a tooltip popping up (which is about 75% of the window). Also, make sure you have the latest version (3.1.003).
