Cellular   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Cellular is an instant messenger mod (for only whispers) based on the functionality of an old version of ForgottenChat.

Features:
  • Many appearance options
  • History log
  • A way to copy text
  • Reuse of the default chat editbox
  • Whispers shown in separate windows or a tab-based single window
  • Should work with most spam filter mods
  • ...and other basic IM features

How to Use:
  • "/cellular", check Interface Options->AddOns, or right-click a window for options
  • Left-click a window to toggle the editbox
  • Left-click a tab to activate it
  • Shift-left-click and drag a window to move
  • Shift-left-click and drag bottom-right corner to resize
  • Right-click a tab for show/close/options dropdown
  • Middle-click a tab to close
  • Hold ctrl and close any window/tab to quick remove from history
  • Several convenient buttons (some require shift clicking for confirmation reasons)

Note: if you have history enabled and notice that Cellular is using a lot of memory, you should cleanup your history entries using Cellular's history options. Furthermore, if you cherish your history, you can back up the saved variables file and then delete it. You can view it in any text editor later. The location of the saved variables file is here:
...\WTF\Account\<Account Name>\<Server Name>\<Character Name>\SavedVariables\Cellular.lua

Recently, I had some requests for donation info, so here it is. Do not feel obligated; donations (or lack of) will not determine what features I do or do not implement.

Ok then,
While I might be made of fail at RTFM,
Celluar is made of WIN!
Thanks for enlightening me.

kgPanels?

From what I can tell, Cellular uses an anonymous frame (even causes errors when using a frame name finder script macro).

Is there any way you could assign a name to the cellular window so that people would be able to parent kgpanels/eepanels to it? Or, if there is a frame name already that I am unable to find, could you pass that along? Thanks!

edit: I had an old version. Got the new one, and everything's going smoothly. Thanks a bunch!

Thumbs down Awsome...

2 feature requests to make this a perfect mod.

1. Cursor editing of the current chat line. ie left and right arrows.
2. The ability to cut to clipboard text lines, like URL's whispered.

Both these things are features I use in ChatMOD if you are looking for code samples.
If these features already exist, then I couldn't find them, can you tell me where they are or how to operate them.

Thanks for the awsome work so far.

Edit: Never mind, just swapped toons just to see what happened. The settings saved. Disregard. Just accept my gratitude for the addon. It's really good.

It looks like it's an error on ZOMG's side. Also, seems like Zeksie is currently working on ZOMG's replacement:

Well this fixes the visibility but when i press <R> the reply button it goes to a different chatbar than the one normally pops up when i press <Enter> guess it'll stay like this :P don't mind

I'm guessing this is a WoW limitation on how much text and which characters you're allowed to send.

Hmm, someone complained about it. I'm not going to add an option...it's either in or out. I'll probably readd it later.

Would it be possible to have a toggle for that behavior ?
I quite liked to be able to see what conversation(s) I had with people prior to whispering them again...
I liked this as well!
Also, I'm not sure whether the problem is with this addon or SpamSentry, but I have SpamSentry set to ignore whispers from characters below a certain level, yet they pop up in Cellular just fine. I was thinking since Cellular modifies the whisper behavior I'd ask here first.
