Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

Heya

I have a question. I would like to disable the raid frames but keep the MT frames from Stuff Raid . Am I missing the option in menu? If it is not possible then I would like to request it.

It is possible but is not very useful since there are times when the portrait covers most or all of the portrait frame. Like Taurens with funky headgear or priests with a very shiny staff. Also, it's either base frame or base border, not both; coloring stuff by aggro is not free.

That happens because target's target and focus target are units that are not driven by events, so they must be refreshed periodically (Stuf does this about 3 times per second) to update the displayed information, including portraits. I'll research again if this is necessary for portraits, but I doubt it isn't. I advise against using 3D portraits for any target of something (except main target).

I did just that. Took an empty text slot and just made a tag for tapped. A small disappointment on the OOR tag for non-friendlies but nothing i cant handle. Thanks for the replies. Keep up the excellent work.

Seems like it only supports and was designed for the default unit frames. You can either dump Stuf or dump that mod. It is possible to display deficit info with Stuf and use Clique for the quick casting.

An additional update on tag issues:...
Stuf's simple tag system doesn't support if blank AND blank conditions; it would require a bit extra processing and a revamped tag system. I suggest replacing [gray_if_tapped:name] with [gray_if_tapped:T ] or something like that.

OOR logic only works for friendlies that are assistable and is fixed at about 40 yards. It does not work for others since how would one determine if an enemy target is OOR. More than 5 yds is out of melee range, more than 10 is out of AOE range, more than 20 for Fire Blast, etc. That is why I've included Stuf_Range.

An additional update on tag issues:

Went to add a tapped conditional to my targets name today in addition to the OOR tags i posted earlier:

[gray_if_tapped:name][solid_ifnot_oor:name]{powerdark_if_oor:name] is the full tag in text slot 1.

I have all but the tapped one in all name tags for healing purposes.

Having more than one condition in a single text slot for the name info tag Seemed to cause 2 to appear. eg: in my case having the tapped AND oor tag made the name appear twice.

OOR coloring is not functioning on combat targets or opposite faction. Tested in both dalaran and the argent tournament ground. Tested with just [powerdark_if_oor:name] on all target types and confirmed it only functions on friendly targets. For opposite faction and combat no name appeared. For friendly targets (player or npc) it worked as expected.

It works perfectly for party members without a reload so the previous fix is working well =)

This feature is already included. Make sure you have the correct filtering options for which debuffs are shown on your raid frames. For my resto druid, I have it only showing debuffs that I can cure; this is very simple to set up.

Please keep the comments regarding tag usage to a minimum. There's an in-game guide with how-to and examples.

I do get emails when a comment is made to handle bugs in a timely manner. If comments get out of hand, I'll unsubscribe and check back on a weekly or so basis.

No special testing required. Just use the mod as you do normally and see if you run into issues.

could you add the option for the elite graphic for targets
Use a panels mod (such as kgPanels) to add special artwork, live with text displays, or use a UF alternative. Default elite indicators generally do not fit well on a rectangular based frame and/or takes up too much space.

You can set the threat bar's bar and background opacity to 0 to just show the text. No tag support for threat.

I was just wondering, those custom tags, can you show us an example?
The tags for Stuf are pretty straight forward. You have color, info and conditional tags. There is an in game check box on the text tags that brings up the various parameters for each set.

Example tags:

[solid_ifnot_oor:name] this will cause the name of the frames owner to appear in your chosen (default) color if they are in range. Best paired with an oor color tag in the same text tag to see a difference. If not paired the name will simply disappear if the target is out of range.

[powerdark_if_afk:I'm AFK] will show the words I'm AFK in a dark version of your power color (dark blue for a mana user by default for example) if the target is indeed afk. You could use an info conditional instead. Since I'm AFK is not a true conditional it will just simply display the text.

The one i use for my target frame is as follows:

[solid_ifnot_oor:name][powerdark_if_oor:name][gray_if_tapped:name]

What this will do is show my targets name in regular white text if its in range. Dark blue if OOR and grey if its tapped. To be honest i havent had a chance to fully test this one as i wrote it late last night then passed out at my desk and only just got home from work =P.

If anyone has any additional questions or needs help writing a tag id be glad to help in pm's. After using the pitbull dotgtags set up extensively im thoroughly enjoying the ease of tags for Stuf.
