Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

@ Seerah - I'll look into why there's a difference between reload and login. Have you tried nudging the portrait's frame level up by one and keeping the panel where it is?

@ WannaSPOON - I did not know that the arena group is considered to be a raid. Geez, there's people who want raid frames for party, and there's who want party for raid. I'm no arena expert and do not want to develop while in an arena, so I probably won't make arena specific features.

<shameless plug>I must say, Seerah, your UI skins and designs keep getting better. It's pretty cool to see how it's changed from the first Suitcase. Also good to see more "named" people getting on the Stuf bandwagon.</shameless plug>

I wanted to check here since I'm not at home and can't peruse my UI. Is there a way to show the Party as opposed to Raid when doing Arenas? I know some addons distinguish Arenas from Battlegrounds/Raids. It's really hard to heal effectively in a pinch with tiny frames :\.

If you're using an external artwork/panel, I believe you need to parent the texture frame to the unit frame for frame level to work properly. I have no experience with artwork mods, but users have asked me how to get frame name for that reason.
Sorry, totalpackage, I didn't get to play over the weekend. But here's some more information. I am using 2D portraits, and, yes, I do have frames from kgPanels parented to my unit frames.

Here is what it looks like upon login, along with both the Stuf options window and the kgPanels options window. Note that the frame level for the portrait is set to 11, while the frame level for the kgPanel is set to 10 (this is 10 so that it lies above the health/power bars). Also note that the target frame's portrait adjusts its frame level properly.

Upon clicking the 11 and hitting Enter (or even adjusting the slider), the portrait adjusts to the correct frame level.

If I reload the UI (at least as of today) the portrait's frame level stays at the correct position. (edit: Even if I do not open the Stuf options window between logging in and reloading...) But logging out and back in puts it behind the kgPanel again.

I mentioned that Stuf is not meant to be a replacement to all UF mods and will not satisfy everyone needs. There are plenty of options out there. Anyway, glad to hear that you're adapting.

There is and will be no way for this. Man, Qupe, just use PerfectRaid. You're trying to make StufRaid identical to PR. Seen those car commercials? Why get something like a Honda when you can just get a Honda. Stuf and StufRaid are completely independent of each other.

For those who want profiles, check out Reflux or change the toc fields (will note this on the addon description page). I'm not going to add profiles so that most of us (including me) who won't use it does not take a performance hit. I use the same layouts on a Priest that I use on a DK, just w/o the aura stuff.

Absolutely love the frames and the individual control. Reminds me of duf.

2 questions though:

Is there a way to enable profiles? I need 2 different layouts for different class characters.

Is there a setting to filter my debuffs on the target? I found the background highlighting for my debuffs but I would like to only show my debuffs rather than all the debuffs he receives.

Thanks

Seriously considering using Stuf on my druid (resto) and would need a different layout than my warrior (prot). Eg., I only use raid frames on my warr to see who died or who bubbled or how much mana someone has left, etc etc. Because of the somewhat infrequent use of raid frames on my warr, they're small and tucked away in the top left corner of my UI. HOWEVER, on my resto druid I want frames to be front and center in my UI, since I'll need to be monitoring them constantly.

TL;DR I'm willing to jump through hoops for profiling options. Help a brotha out!

yeah I could, or I could focus target, or I could use a tooltip mod showing auras or a whole bunch of workarounds. All of which are not an optimum solution. An optimum solution involves showing what I consider important in the one spot, ie: the raidframe.

Total asked for ideas, I'm trying to give some. If he closes the door on the concept thats fine by me as well.
In my opinion its more important the raidframes are lean than every bell and whistle be included, just exploring boundaries here.

In general the current feature set is almost perfect, particularly like the the alert icon functionality, was very easy to adapt to Ulduar as we went last night.

1. maybe two icon sizes based on remaining duration? eg: you could make a 2 px difference with icons scaling up with 2 seconds to go or something. Still not perfect for druids. Alternatively countdowns shown only <10 seconds ensuring a single digit would probably work even at small icon sizes (I use 10px auras on healbot and can easily read the cd text on them). Provided you manage your exclusion list (start with a mine filter) to avoid aura spam it should be possibly to identify what aura is which even with most of it obscured by countdown text.
Or possibly just blizzards cd spiral might be enough, although I find that hard to see at extremely small icon sizes.

2. Don't worry about blends, I discovered class background with custom Black health bar overlayed is extremely effective.

It may seem inconsistent, but I had to remove some features from StufRaid that Stuf has to make compact efficient raid frames.

1. Aura icons with timers would require bigger icons, thus requiring bigger frames or more space. I am open on suggestions for this. What I usually do if I need to watch timers across multiple units is to focus one and target the other. Yea, that is just two units but is fine most of the time.

2. Threshold coloring is cool but a bit costly. Having to recalculate/recolor health bars every time someone's health changes in a 25-man raid should have a big impact. I do not want to go thru people complaining about FPS when using StufRaid.
