Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 6.0.001
by: totalpackage [More]
** WoWI's Pick of a Week
** YouTube Intro
** YouTube Starter Guide
** Users' UI with Stuf

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:
  • New for 3.3: LFG icons and Boss frames (only for certain encounters)
  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.
  • You cannot select "Set Focus" from the right-click menu. Make a "/focus" macro instead.
  • 3D model showing full body instead of face cannot be fixed. (fixed in 5.0!)

In the latest version, I've added cooldown pies to aura icons that should be enough for many classes. If I was to add spell specific features for druids, I would have to do it for all. By the way, you can target/focus people on a mouseover macro.
Thank you SO much !!! This addon is perfection!

Replied earlier in the thread about hovering over target frames and it showing them as the player frame. I've deleted every addon apart from stuf but it's still doing it for some strange reason so I doubt it can be an addon conflict.
Tired updating the latest version and everything I can think of but it just seems to not want to work properly.

Arena Enemy Frames?

Any chance Stuf will handle the Arena Enemy frames in the near future?

At the moment they appear on my screen at the upper right hand side below my minimap...directly beneath my tooltip location. =/

I'd love to be able to configure them and place them in a better location.

Sorry Sofa, TP has several times, STUF is a party unit frame replacement, and STUF Raid is a raid frame replacement, at this point there is no STUF Arena.

Excellent addon totalpackage!!!!
Replaced my old DUF perfectly.
I was wondering if you had any plans on adding nudge arrows to the positioning section of the config?
Also is there a way to create saved variables for each character?
Thank you again for all your hard work

@Nantan
I'm not familiar with the term "nudge" but if you use exact X/Y coordinates to position the frames you shouldn't need any more accuracy than that. Also, there is no way to create saved variables using only Stuf or StufRaid, however there is a very handy addon called Reflux (search for it here) that can handle profiling for Stuf and StufRaid perfectly.

First...LOVE your unit frames. Really like the raid frames, but I will need to play with them more as a mainspec healer used to the customization of grid and healbot for several years now...I am not sure they will meet my needs, but they are icing on the cake as far as I am concerned.

The above quote caught my eye because I am a mouseover healer for years and I am having problems with the "Use" effect of Living Ice Crystals. I have tried:

/cast [target=mouseover,help,exists] Living Ice Crystals

It does not work.

So I figured it was hard coded to only work with my target so something like this might work:
/target [mouseover]
/use living ice crystals
/targetlasttarget

but [mouseover] is not a valid argument.

I am hoping from your comment you may have a way to do it.

I usually only make mods that I use. It's also very difficult to develop a mod without a proper test environment. However, it's on my to-do-when-bored list.

If you care just to move it, I believe it's up to your frame moving mod or minimap mod. Hmm, I may add a mover in Capping.

No clue here. Try resetting to defaults.

I was thinking about adding this during early development, but I realized that the mouse-wheel nudger is simple, quick, and more common (not just for position and other mods use this method). I was used to the DUF nudger, but I moved on. For character settings, there's instructions in the addon description.

Since it is a unit frame, I thought I'd ask. Would be nice to have a single mod to handle all my unit frames.
At the moment I'm trying out Gladius to show the arena unit frames. It works, but looks completely out of place on my screen.

P.S. BTW, I was using Pitbull 3, and then the so called optimized Pitbull 4 in beta...and now use your addon due to the significant reduction in memory and CPU hit. You're doing a great job.

3D Portraits get wonky

Thanks for the tip, will try it.

Actual Stuf issue. I am using 3D portraits in full body mode. Works great most of the time except on Thorim last night. Its like I was zoomed into his shoulder or something. All I saw was gray and it was moving. I assume this is due to his size and this will likely happen on other bosses too. Is this something you have control over like if its a large sized mob, increase the camera distance? If not is there a way to swap it to Face mode or 2d mode or zoom the perspective out on the fly manually using a script (activated by clicking on a kgpanel) or macro?

Thanks!

That happens with mobs not in the model database. I only know that from using MazzleUI, then ZmobDB. But I personally have no idea how to fix/update it. Maybe TP can give us a better idea of what to do or how to let him know so the models can be updated.

Well, I was bored, and there was much arena action on PTR. Only minor adjustments were needed to implement it into Stuf. However, I had a hard time coming up with a default setup, so much tweaking will be necessary on the user side.

I believe griffin224 is correct about this. It's similar to why face mode sometimes show full body. The only workaround that I know is to make a database of mobs for which this occur, and then adjust the model accordingly. I'm definitely not going to do this. As griffin224 mentioned, you should check out ZMobDB.

You wanna tell me how to make the DB TP and I can see about updating it as new mobs are found so you can add it.
