Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 6.0.001
by: totalpackage [More]
** WoWI's Pick of a Week
** YouTube Intro
** YouTube Starter Guide
** Users' UI with Stuf

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:
  • New for 3.3: LFG icons and Boss frames (only for certain encounters)
  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.
  • You cannot select "Set Focus" from the right-click menu. Make a "/focus" macro instead.
  • 3D model showing full body instead of face cannot be fixed. (fixed in 5.0!)

That's unfortunate. Myself and a few other people I talk to on various UI forums (I'm sure there's more) would very much like the option to control player frame transparency while injured (not at full health + out of combat).

Its an incredibly useful feature while questing/grinding mobs/PvP'ing etc. that you might be underestimating.

Patch 4.0.1

So the new patch is on the PTR which means we'll be seeing it live very soon. I'm really interested to know if you'll be using the new/default "holy power" bar or just a bubbles option.

The default will look amazing on my UI considering I keep it in the realm of WoW look and feel.

Good luck getting the coding done in time. Thanks for the amazing addon.

I agree that having such a small and simple to implement feature would be greatly helpful to this already great mod.

I changed the Core.lua to have it work the way I wanted. Unfortunately I'm not a programmer and I don't know much LUA so this is very rudimentary. If someone would help me out on this it'd be awesome. right now it half way works you have to target someone/thing and detarget them for it to change.

Almost at the very bottom of the core.lua file there is a line that looks like:
Code:
a = (incombat and (dbg.combatalpha or 1) or (dbg.alpha or 1)

Change it to read:
Code:
if UnitHealth("Player")/UnitHealthMax("Player") < 1 then -- Adds HP fading
     a = (dbg.combatalpha or 1)
else
     a = (incombat and (dbg.combatalpha or 1)) or (dbg.alpha or 1)
end

Aggro Text: How??

I've searched high and low and have tried countless ways using the "pattern tag help" feature (very nice btw) and I simply cannot figure this out!

ALL I want is:

If a party member has aggro, I would like the text to appear before that player's name. Ex: normal - "Fef" when player has aggro, "AGGRO: Fef"

I figured this would follow the same format as what you outlined in your instructional video for the male/female tags (Ms. Fef if female, etc) I have tried:

[hpred_if_aggro:AGGRO ][name]
[hpred_if_aggro:name]

HELP PLEASE! This took me hours to configure it, but as I healer if I can't find a solution to this I will have to consider finding another UF mod and I really really don't want to! thx

(what would be even BETTER: is it possible to have my border show when I or another party member has aggro)

Nevermind!

The border aggro option is, in fact, in the global settings. Duh.

I still haven't quite figured out the text aggro but if I have border aggro (I have yet to test this) I don't need it

Party: Sort Unit Frame Order

How do I sort my part unit frames alphabetically instead of whatever lunatic way the client does (by toon creation date, I think)? I've searched but didn't find a solution.

Pet Happiness

I ended up googleing this and this was the LUA code that I had found

Code:
function(unit, cache, textframe)
local petlove, petlovecolor, petname
local petlove, _, _ = GetPetHappiness()
local petname = UnitName("pet")
if (petlove == 3) then petlovecolor = "|c0000ff1f"
elseif (petlove == 2) then petlovecolor = "|c00ffee1f"
elseif (petlove == 1) then petlovecolor = "|c00ff0000"
else petlovecolor = "|c00FFFFFF" end
return petlovecolor..petname.."|r" end
It some what works. My pet is currently happy but the text is showing red, several times I've had to feed my pet but the colour hasn't updated. /rl works but I can't keep typing that every 30mins or so

What it is at the moment. I'm not sure if its a problem with the LUA code above or STUF doesn't agree with it

Same for me, but dismissing and calling your pet, and mounting and dismounting, seems to update it. It just doesn't want to update other than those times.

Re: Cataclysm beta

Sorry for the late response. Good news is that I am working on getting Stuf to work with 4.0/Cataclysm.

I've addressed these issues on my local copy. For now, it would great if I get feedback on new additions to the default unit frames so that I can add them to Stuf. I am busy working out all of the bugs of my mods to play around.

Can the configuration for the shaman totem bars be expanded? It would be great if you could individually move each element's bar, like you can for circular combo points. In addition, the ability to set bar colors, icon placement (including hiding the icons) and vertical bars would help....
Maybe, so many items on my priority list first.

I am guessing that an event doesn't fire if the unit is out of range or it is unknown if a unit is afk if OOR. If it is the first and the afk flag is really important to you, just update the text often by checking the box for frequent updates.

Is it possible to add a border to castbar icon? I could be just blind but can't find the option...
Most likely no since that will add bulk without function.

1) Remove the condition, like [hpthreshold:curmp] . 2) Just reduce the text frame width to the area where you want it to cut off. Enable the Toggle Highlighter tool.

Mind giving me more details about this. I'll research it later.

@ Fef - the text pattern you gave should work, but border is more useful.

Not sure how it is sorted, but making the group sorted will kill the option to move each frame freely and increase CPU usage.

@ Greevir and abyssis87 - try turning on frequent updating.
