FAQ
Q: How do i access the Configuration?
A: You can open the configuration with the Slash Commands (/bt or /bartender) or through the Bartender4 LDB plugin.

Q: Can Bartender4 import settings from Bartender3?
A: No. Those two mods are too different to be able to import settings.

Q: Where are my keybindings? And how do i bind new keys?
A: BT3 Keybindings will not be ported over either, you have to use the new KeyBound to re-bind your keys. You can access KeyBound by its slash command (/kb) or through the button in the BT4 config. Hover a button, press key → voila!

Q: CyCircled Support? I like my button skins?
A: No reason to cry! There is a sparkling new skinning addon/library out there! ButtonFacade is way easier to work with as a action-bar author, and its easier to write skins for it too! Alot of cyCircled Skins have already been ported to ButtonFacade, and more are on their way! After installing ButtonFacade just use its configuration to change the skin of the BT4 buttons (/bf)

Q: How do i disable the snapping of the bars?
A: Currently, you can temporarily override the snapping by holding down the Shift Key while moving your bars, or uncheck the option in the popup when your bars are unlocked.

They are in one solid line without controlling gaps like Fx keys. I just can't see how can I use them with very few exceptions - i'm using the "=" key for mount/dismount as it is right next to my big backspace key, easy to be found.
First: I still think it would be nice if one could remove/move the Leave Vehicle button from the possess bar since it does not exist there on the original Blizzard vehicle bar (only the one bound to numpad 5).

Secondly: I still don't see how to, for example, strafe, jump and hit F7 (arbitrary ability) at the same time (very common)?

Thirdly: I only use 1-6 (and 5-6 rare abilities), 7-12 are bound to M4, M5, q, e, r, t, y and very easy to reach with precision.

Fourthly: I agree on the usefulness of F1-F12 buttons as easy to use, but I think they are more useful for rare (out of combat) abilities according to me (due to the movement problem, see above).

Lastly: See first above please, thanks.

I do not see any, literally, reason to strafe and very few resons to jump (jumping is the last resort to fix broken geodata issues, sorry, but I can't see how it could be allowed to exist in MMO game - don't we have enough desktop platformers if we want to practice our reactions?) - when you are in air and not on your mount, your character is completely out of control, which is VERY bad thing. For the times I need to jump, I'm hitting Space key. Since my most used abilities concentrated on the left side (F1-F6), Space typically in reach of the same (left) hand without any additional gestures. Plus, you should see my UI... I have Bar4 (RightBar2 by Blizzard) folded in half and set right in front of me, one inch down from the screen center. It literally saves my life in times I need to activate one of the least used skills which do not fit easily on the keyboard. Or to watch cooldowns of important skills without loosing focus on current fight.
And of course I do have mouse buttons reassigned to repeat F10-F12... It's more useful than assigning abilities on M4-M5 (oops there's no way you can assign something on the X2 button unless you reassign it to a keyboard key) - if you have, say, M4 assigned macro with Righteous Defence on mouseover - it will fail if you mouseover party member's nameplate, while reassigned keyboard key will work.

I do not see any, literally, reason why the addon should behave differently than the default UI in that aspect (different buttons/bindings on the bar it replaces).
  • There is at least one part of the game where movement is really important; PvP.
  • Yes, strafing is important, since it allows you to run away from the target at full speed (as opposed to backing) while still doing damage (especially as a hunter).
  • Jumping is also VERY important, especially in combination with the use of abilities (disengage for example, but also spells/shots while kiting). Jumping also allows you to run away (forward/strafing) from a target, and then travel at 100% speed backwards (you turn in mid air), and release appropriate ability.
  • It is not the MMO part that should effect this, you are thinking about the RP part in the full acronym MMORPG. The RP part often implies (for example) that you don't have to aim, it is just based on the two characters involved. However, as I described above, strafing and jumping have uses, in WoW at least.

I have no interest in comparing my UI to yours (which I am sure suits you well), I do not see why this should have anything to do with being able to move/remove the leave vehicle button.

I do not know what a X2 button is, but my M4 and M5 buttons are bound exactly as keyboard buttons and do not have any behavior different from them at all (mouseover, nameplates or otherwise).

I must apologize for the long post and write here what still is the important: It would be nice if one could remove/move the Leave Vehicle button from the possess bar since it does not exist there on the original Blizzard vehicle bar (only the one bound to numpad 5).

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Possess/Vehicle Bar Problem

There's lots of PvE reasons to jump as well. Aerastraza (or whatever her name is.. last boss in Nexus..) .. my left hand is pounding space to jump to avoid the deep freeze, my right hand is activating abilities. Not to mention the platform jumping in Blackfathom Depths just to run the stupid instance.

Here, I'm not sure what you're talking about. The "possess bar" IS the default blizzard UI. By default, when you join a vehicle with abilities, Blizzard replaces Bar 1 with the vehicle's action bar. "Leave Vehicle" is always in the last position, button 12, by default bound to "=". Bartender lets you change which bar you're converting from Bar 1 to another bar, but the behavior is still the same.

Bartender also optionally provides a "Vehicle Bar" with 3 buttons - Aim Up, Aim Down, Leave Vehicle. If you don't like this bar, it's quite easy to turn off.

Sorry, the summary got a bit short, let me cite myself:
This works fine for me: when I enter a vehicle my bar1 turns into a possess bar, keeping the keybindings of bar1 as expected.

My problem: The original vehicle bar only have 6 buttons in it's "main" area. With the "Leave vehicle" button on the right side (default binding numpad 5).

However the possess bar have this leave vehicle button in the 12:th place (which I have bound to 'T'). This makes me accidentally leave the vehicle when using button 4-6. This does not occur with the default UI (since leave vehicle is only bound to numpad 5).

Possible solutions to this would be (if possible):
1. Make it possible to move/remove the leave vehicle button (or all possess bar buttons).

2. Make it possible to have other keybindings to the possess/vehicle bar (best of all if they could "overlap" with keybindings from bar1; having button 1 bound to 1 on both bar1 and the possess bar).

Currently the only way for me to avoid this is to unbind the key while doing vehicle quests.

Thanks!
PS. the default vehicle bar does not have 12 buttons. It has 6 and the leave button is not among those, its default binding is numpad 5. See here for an example.

It does not behave differently, if you referring to the way the mouse buttons processed. It's just natural Blizzard stupidity.

PvP, yes, but not GvG. In 20x20 encounter you do not have time to move. You either win or die. (I mean *encounter*, not 20x20 BG, where 15 of these 20 running noone know where)

I'm not to argue with you about classes I do not play. For classes i'm playing, moving and doing damage at the same time is at the very least highly inefficient, if at all possible.

Ahha, so my guess wasn't right. Good.
And the x2 is the... x2 button. One that by default assigned to double-leftclick. But in X7 you can reassign it.

It does exist. Simply because Bartender do not know much about Possess bar, other than the fact that it exist and when to show it.

This "alot" going down to 3 cases as I can tell.
BFD - damned platformer.
Keristrasza - like we don't have anything else to do.
Thaddius - damned platformer again.

Possess/Vehicle Bar Problem

When entering a vehicle, Default UI: Shows vehicle bar. It has 6 buttons plus a separate leave vehicle button (bound to numpad 5). Pressing 7-= (or what you have bound your 7-12 buttons to, on your bar1) has no effect.

Bartender UI: Shows possess bar (and a little 3 button vehicle bar). Pressing buttons 7-11 have no effect, 12 however do; leave vehicle. Clearly different behavior.

GvG seems to be mosly RPG. If you need to aim (usually non RPG) then you need to strafe/jump.

I have no idea of what you mean by x2. X7 seem equally irrelevant and I have no idea why you even brought any of this up: my M4 and M5 buttons are bound exactly as keyboard buttons and do not have any behavior different from them at all (mouseover, nameplates or otherwise).
It almost seems like you are talking about things specific to your mouse?

When entering a vehicle, Default UI: Shows vehicle bar. It has 6 buttons plus a separate leave vehicle button (bound to numpad 5). Pressing 7-= (or what you have bound your 7-12 buttons to, on your bar1) has no effect.

Bartender UI: Shows possess bar (and a little 3 button vehicle bar). Pressing buttons 7-11 have no effect, 12 however do; leave vehicle. Clearly different behavior.
Well, let's have this down to simple case.
If you can prove that Bartender4 have made up this button, it'll be easy for author to remove it, right?

I just did (it is not there by default). I am not saying that BT4 "made up" the button from scratch though. The reason for me to ask this from the beginning is that it is not certain that it can be removed.
The problem is that the default UI vehicle bar is not equal to the shown possess bar (whether it is "created" by WoW or bt4). If it created by WoW I see that it might be hard to get rid of the button.

Wikipedia: Realm versus Realm (RvR) is a type of Player versus Player gameplay in Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) where the player base is divided over multiple preset realms that fight each other over game assets ... Contrast with "Guild versus Guild" or GvG games, such as Shadowbane or Age of Conan, in which players organize themselves into factions of their own creation ...
The article concerns MMORPG in general, Shadowbane and Age of Conan are MMORPG in particular.

"You can't see it by default" is the correct term.
Which does not mean that it's not exist.

No, in fact, it's simple. "Remove function that is on 12'th button". What if Blizz alter it and that spell will be meaningful once?

GvG - Group versus Group.
Guilds, clans, corps and whatever else has distant relation to this definition.

Put two bars next to eachother.
On more technical note, learn more about Bartender, it do not create new bars, it serving existing bars only.

Of course not, I showed that BT4 "made up" the button as you put it. It is not visible and more importantly it is not bound in the default ui.

I can press button 12 as much as I want with the default UI without leaving vehicle because there are no such button visible or bound to the same binding as button 12 on bar1.

It is impossible to show (in game) that the button exist within WoW or BT4 when the only way to get access to the button is via BT4.

If you want to prove something about the default UI, turn off all your mods, reset all your keybindings to the default, and show us a picture of the default UI. A bartender bar with the Possess bar being a bar that was truncated to show 6 buttons tells us nothing.

Button 6 there looks like the "Tell me the next thing I should be doing" button, not a leave vehicle button.

2. Make it possible to have other keybindings to the possess/vehicle bar (best of all if they could "overlap" with keybindings from bar1; having button 1 bound to 1 on both bar1 and the possess bar).
Errmm.. it does that. You tell Bartender whether you want Bar 1, 2, 3, etc. to be the "Possess Bar". When you jump in a vehicle, MC someone, etc., the buttons on that bar turn in to the relevent buttons for the vehicle or thing you MC'd. The keybindings for that bar stay the same.

Blizzard default UI does the exact same thing, except that you can't change the bar it's replacing from 1 to something else.
