Caith UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 19
by: Caith [More]

Welcome to my custom user interface.
I use a 24" monitor with a 1920x1200 resolution.
But you could also use it with your own resolution,
maybe you have to adjust some parts of the UI.

-

The installation guidelines are in the CaithUI.rar
But you can watch here a small ingame tutorial how to get started

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Btf3WKKzsn0

I use a couple of addons to modify my UI

Unitframes: PitBull, Gladius, kgPanels, Quartz
Buttons: Bartender4, OmniCC, kgPanels
Combat: LoseControl, Afflicted3, AUF, MSBT, DoomCdPulse
PVE: Omen, Recount, DBM
Buffs: nBuff, PowerAuras
Map: nMap, Mapster
Other: TipTac, FluidFrames, Reflux, !Beautycase, Bagnon, Junkyard, SharedMedia

Thanks a lot to the addon authors. We couldn't create such awesome interfaces without your addons!

In the latest CaithUI release, I still see the "General," "Trade," "LocalDefense," and "LookingForGroup" channels in both the left and right chat frames of Chatter.

I've searched around on Chatter's wowinterface page and with the in-game configuration but do not see a way of separating the channels in separate frames (like the V11 of Caith did).

Does this require some .lua configuration or am I missing something? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey everyone, quick question. I installed the UI and followed all the steps, but I have a scaling issue. My config file in my WTF folder will not keep the following lines after reloading my UI in WoW:

SET uiScale "0.77999997138977"
SET useUiScale "1"

I have given myself full permissions for editing the folder's content, yet I still can't get the scaling to work. Here is a screen cap for better understanding.

NOTE: Addon profiles that were listed in the instructions were loaded in the above image, making layout exempt as a cause.

How do I move the player debuff frame? I poked around in the rbuff.lua doc, but I don't see coords just for the debuff frame.

I'm not talking about the pitbull debuffs for targets, but my player debuffs. I tweaked the buff frame via buffalo and now my buffs clip the debuffs and I want to move the debuffs down a little to compensate.

Oh, how I do love patches.

Since the drop of the most recent mini-patch, my minimap has been quite screwey. While I understand I cannot change the issue with the overly large indicators and question marks on the minimap itself, I am unable to move my quest watch frame. Since scale of the minimap has changed, part of my quest watch frame is off the edge of my screen. Activating the movers does nothing, only moving the minimap itself, which of course poses the issue of the kgPanels panel behind it. Any idea how to fix this so my quest frame isn't half in oblivion?

Thanks for the help!

Working with Buffalo rather than rBuff has made the changes possible.

Has anyone successfully change the scale and/or number of icon per row in the Caith rBuff?

Edit: I tried editing the existing rbuff lua (scale and max_buffs), downloaded and edited the latest Roth rBuff and used a modified rBuff posted to this comment thread (changes the weapon enchant slot to a separate frame). None of them changes the size of the buff icons! They're magic, or something.

That's because it isn't using RBuff for the scaling, but Buffalo.

Use /buffalo buffs scale X to get you started (swap X with the scale, default is 1.3)

Launch Pitbull Config and disable the frames you don't want used.

One Question, the buff icons are too big for my resolution, but scaling of rBuff doesn't work for me. I edited the .lua to

BuffFrame:SetScale(0.7)
TemporaryEnchantFrame:SetScale(0.7)

but nothing happens. Changing the values in any way does exact nothing. Any idea?

In order to load the minimap correctly (which just stays top right, in the original description), do:
/simpleminimap profile choose Caith UI

LOVE the UI, I modified it slightly to my tastes (increased the bar on the bottom to allow two rows, added in 2 additional frames for Omen and recount), but I seem to have some random lag issues. Mimiron and Hodir for example love to drop me from 60fps down to 15 or so. In Dalaran I get a solid 60, but regardless of how low my settings are in Ulduar, I will lagg while in combat. Can anyone tell me what is causing this, and how I can fix it?

I assume it has something to do with combat text, and I am currently using MiksCombatText over Parrot.
I have exactly the same problem. 10-mans is just fine, or well maybe not while big AoE packs are being killed but during 25-mans it's rather annoying. It's not really much of an FPS loss for me, it's more like the whole game starts to stutter, like you would run an anti-virus update/scan in the background. I also thought it was the Combat text at first since parrot seems to use over 1mb of RAM (I have 8 GB) which puts it 3rd on the addon ram-usage for me with pitbul and fubar over it.

But tried to swap it to MKSB with no luck, so now i'm using the original blizz combat text but still the problem occurs. It's not recount nor omen either, i've disabled itemrack/fubar.

If anyone know why this occurs please let me/us know

Hey Caith, great to see u update my fav UI, looks awesome and very functional great work

Everything works great so far, only 2 minor issues.

The target frame during pvp doest show "Color by class" although its ticked, so the hp bar is allways red independent of class.

Dont know if i have to change anything else, at the moment the only place where i can imagine this is configured is in "Layout editor -> Target -> Bars -> health bar. altough its ticked it doesnt show.

I see in your screen shot the pally also has a red HP bar, is there a way to show the class color has hp bar (pink in this case) like in your old UI version?

Also during raids i like to keep track of my buffs in raid members, the pitbull config is a bit overwhelming, i have been trying to get my arcane brilliance, dampen and amp magic to show up on the raid frames individually but cant get it to show up.

Any help would be appreciated, tanks in advance.

Tool Tip

I hope this hasn't all ready been asked, I searched through the comments the best I could.

Anyways, is there a way to move the tool tip box? Ie. when you mouse over a player/npc what have you, it pops up in the top left corner, and I would like to move it because I have changed the UI around some and it interferes with my minimap now.

Thanks in advance.

*EDIT* Found out how to change the tool tip box. For those who don't know, it's /tiptac > button at bottom of menu that says "Anchor". Just press that button and the anchor will appear and you can drag it where ever you'd like.

Dear Caith,

I use you UI package as a base for my UI and tweak it to my likeness. It would be really helpful if you'd write a few lines on each addon to let us (me!) know why you chose exactly that addon over another one (Ie. "CowTip is not supported - TipTac was the best alternative").

Also, if you made any changes to an addon - PitBull perhaps - let us know, so we don't update it from another source. Or even better write down the changes you've made so we don't have to wait for an update from you.

Design choices in general I'm sure would also be an interesting read.
