BasicChatMods  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v7.1.1
by: funkydude [More]

By default BCM will allow you to drag your chat frames to the very edge of the screen, the remaining customization is done in BCM's modules which can be enabled or disabled at will.

Configure
Type /bcm to configure BasicChatMods, a basic and modular approach to chat customization.

Combat Log Timestamps
Currently provided by Blizzard, right-click combat log tab > Settings > Formatting > Show Timestamp. Repeat this for every combat log, e.g. "My Actions", "What happened to me?".

BasicChatMods is open source and development is done on GitHub. You can contribute code, localization, and report issues there: https://github.com/funkydude/BasicChatMods

BasicChatMods
v7.1.1 (2016-10-26)
Full Changelog Previous releases
  • buttons: remove compat
  • history: large cleanup to the code that remembers chat after doing a UI reload, thanks to patch 7.1
  • history: SetMaxLines no longer clears the chat frame, remove giant block of code.

Editbox Border Color

Apologies if this has been asked, but is it possible to hide the border of the editbox? I mean the one that changes colors based on channel by default. I'd like to disable that border or at least change its alpha.

v7.2
BCM now includes the LibChatAnims library to prevent BCM blocking talent changes for some users.
  • AltInvite: fix inviting people that log on.
  • BNet: Add option to remove the "person" icon from chat.
  • ChatCopy: Lots of code cleanup, remove icons from text to prevent copying issues, fix GUI description.
  • Highlight: Scan instance chat for highlights, don't highlight your own chat.
  • Timestamp: Clicking the timestamp for single-line copy now also includes the timestamp.
  • URLCopy: Complete re-write for simplification and future proofing. (new TLD non-English languages and virtually any words like .book will be legitimate sites)

You are correct, they are stored there. Is it possible to add the position and sizing information into a module versus copy/pasting the chat-cache.txt to all characters on every server?

@Kabuto-eu, that's not an error, that's a taint. It may or may not be BCM, but rounding down the modules helps. Are you saying that this is guaranteed to happen? As I have nearly all modules active and have no such issue with joining raids.

If it is guaranteed to happen, can you start disabling more modules to get to the module causing the problem? Try with only the urlcopy module enabled and see if it happens. If it does, disable it too so that you have no modules active, and see if it still happens.

Modules active: Button Hide, Editbox, History, Scrolldown, Urlcopy.

The following bugs occur when joining a raid group and entering combat. This only seems to occur the first time the raid enters combat after creation. I executed a reload of the ui and was unable to repeat the error within that current raid.

One error of this type for each raid frame/member in raid:
Code:

Can you please do something about the way Blizzard changed the chat text?

If your in the BGs or a dungeon, it now says [Instance] or [Instance Leader] instead of [P], [PL], [BG] etc. and the color for all chat text in BGs and dungeons is the same as Raid.

v7 released:
  • Now supports on-demand chats frames (pet battle log, bnet popup whispers, etc)
  • Chatcopy functionality now coverts raid icons into {rt} symbols for easy copying
  • Timestamps are now clickable, clicking a timestamps shows a popup allowing you to copy a specific line of chat. Makes it easier to copy specific lines of chat than using the standard chatcopy functionality.

Although the new timestamp copychat functionality has been added, you can still copy multiple lines by shift-clicking a chat tab.

Re: Hmmm...?

Sounds like one of your addons is creating a frame at the bottom of the screen, something BCM doesn't do. I suggest you try with only BCM enabled.
