BasicChatMods  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: v7.41
by: funkydude [More]
Type /bcm to configure BasicChatMods, a basic and modular approach to chat customization.

By default BCM will allow you to drag your chat frames to the very edge of the screen, the remaining customization is done in BCM's modules which can be enabled or disabled at will.

A few of the current modules include:
  • Button Hiding
  • Channel Name Customization
  • Chat Copy
  • Font Customization
  • Chat Frame Justification
  • Player Name Customization
  • Real Id Class Coloring
  • Sticky Customization
  • Tell Target
  • Timestamp Customization
  • URL Copy

Class Colors: Are already provided by Blizzard, right-click chat frame tab > Settings > Tick Boxes
Combat Log Timestamps: Are already provided by Blizzard, right-click combat log tab > Settings > Formatting > Show Timestamp. Repeat this for every combat log, e.g. "Self", "Everything", "What happened to me?", "Kills".
v7.41: Remove LibChatAmbiguate, fix highlight module name trimming.

thanks for that.

OK next question. this one hits to the heart.

OK. so I want to buy something from the AH. lets say wool and cloth.
before the update and forever. I would add it into my chat bar. then open up the AH and copy what I put into the AH from my chat bar.

but now say you have wool and cloth in your chat bar. and open up the AH when you go to copy the words you added in the char bar so you don't forget. into the AH search the chat bar closes/.

I hope that makes sense,

Not really, but it's nothing to do with this addon.

Why don't you just open your bags at the AH, click the search box, then shift-click the item in your bags? It will paste the name of the item into the search box.

Alternatively you can just copy it before you open the AH window.

yes I know that. but say you don't have the item in you bag. lets say the glyphs

so I type

frost armor icy veins slow fall

into the chat bar.

I then open the AH and in the search box I type out one thing off my list I put into my chat bar.

when I start to type into the AH search bar the chat bar with my info close's

but its strange that I uploaded your new version today. on curse. and this morning before I updated it. it worked fine

Kudos to the creator.

This add-on reminds me of how much fun I have coding at work, and how much I do actually enjoy my job. :P

nibHideBlackBar

Ey wonderfull chat addon you got here, but I have a little question. I usually use a addon called nibHideBlackBar but that isn't working with BasicChatMods. Is there anyway to remove the black bar a other way or to make this addon work with BCM?

Pressing up arrow no longer supported?

Just wondering if I've gone mad or not.. but I used to be able to press the up arrow and it would have what I had previously typed so I could say it again without re-typing.

No longer supported?

Re: Pressing up arrow no longer supported?

Works fine for me, try right clicking your chat tab and resetting it to default.

Re: Re: Pressing up arrow no longer supported?

I'm thinking it might have to do with '#' out the 'editbox.lau'? I don't like it at the top though

Re: Re: Re: Pressing up arrow no longer supported?

Yes it's enabled in the editbox module. I guess I'll move it to the resize module since no one should be disabling that. For now you can just keep it enabled and comment out (use "--") the lines that call :SetPoint and :ClearAllPoints

Sticky whispers

on your last release you finally (thanks!) added a way to unsticky whispers, just uncomment by deleting the -- and the addon will process that commandline what sets whispers's sticky to value 0, i.e. off.

I did that but I still get sticky whispers in my chatbox. Could it be because I'm using WIM too? Or maybe I did something wrong? Can hardly think about what though, uncommenting that line seems like an easy task where you can hardly do something wrong.
(yet I might surprsingly have succeeded in such a hard task!)

Re: Sticky whispers

It could be any one of your addons. Someone earlier found that the CT addon was sticking whispers for some reason.

v4.00

+If you're using Blizz timestamps, re-select it from Interface>Social to avoid double-stamping/no-stamping
+NEW: Scrolldown module, Moves the "scroll down" Blizzard button to the top-right side of the chat frame and shows if you're not at the very bottom
+CHANGED: Re-wrote CopyChat, now requires you to double-click the chat tab, no longer uses an extra button
+CHANGED: Re-wrote URLCopy, should work like before, just simplified
+UPDATED: Tweaked most modules code & documentation
+NEW: German localization for channelnames module
+UPDATED: Russian localization
+CHANGED: Renamed resize_chatframe module to dont_disable, as it contains misc functions that should not be disabled
+CHANGED: Moved ability to use keyboard arrows/edit text in the editbox from the editbox module to the dont_disable module

Hi, awsome work as always, love the double click feature of the chat tabs for copying text. So much better than having the icon in the corner all the time, thanks

I have a little request about the Toastbox that appears above the chat frame for RealID messages. I was just wondering if it's possible to make it re-align with the chat frame when you have the buttons module enabled? Basically i have my chat frame to the left of my screen which with buttons hidden means i can move it much further to the left. The only problem is the toast box is out of line witht he chat frame and gets half cut of the screen

I know its not a big thing and maybe not even worth your time bothering with and i have found an addon to allow me to move the toast box to where i want it, but it would just be nice if i didnt need a seperate add-on just for that.

Either way, thanks for all the work you put into this mod. Would be lost without it

Hey Funky.

After this last update my scroll down/up buttons appear above the scrolldown-button, as in above and outside the chatframe.
But at first they were in their proper spots.
My laymans guess is that they're linked like that and some obscure hook or something aligned them like that after a while.

Well i don't know, just thought i'd let you know.
