BasicChatMods  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r531
by: funkydude [More]

Type /bcm to configure BasicChatMods, a basic and modular approach to chat customization.

By default BCM will allow you to drag your chat frames to the very edge of the screen, the remaining customization is done in BCM's modules which can be enabled or disabled at will.

A few of the current modules include:

  • Button Hiding
  • Channel Name Customization
  • Chat Copy
  • Font Customization
  • Chat Frame Justification
  • Player Name Customization
  • Real Id Class Coloring
  • Sticky Customization
  • Tell Target
  • Timestamp Customization
  • URL Copy

Combat Log Timestamps: Are already provided by Blizzard, right-click combat log tab > Settings > Formatting > Show Timestamp. Repeat this for every combat log, e.g. "Self", "Everything", "What happened to me?", "Kills".

Fixed issues with playernames not always showing levels or being colored.

Channel names are no longer replaced when changing zone.
Added a /group slash command to send chat to whatever group you're in (instance > raid > party > say
Several bug fixe

Fixes a BNet error when a friend logs off.
Fixes the chat history not applying to combat log.
Changes the "no real name" BNet option to replace real names with BNet names instead of wow character names.
Restores the last 5 chat lines when you reload UI.

Question problem with addon and my pet

i play a warlock, and ever since this new update, when i load BasicChatMods, then my pets bar goes up higher than it should go. normally it sits right above the exp bar and another bar. but now it goes much higher and a huge gap of space with nothing there. is there a way i can possibly fix this?

Font Size

Is there a way to change the font size to be smaker in the files? In the ingame blizzard settings the range only goes down to size 12.

Looking in the files i assumed that the file font.lua would be the appropriate place and found a '12' in the file that might be related to the font size:

for i = 1, _G.NUM_CHAT_WINDOWS do
_G[format("%s%d", "ChatFrame", i)]:SetFont(media:Fetch("font", FONT), 12)
end

Changing this to i.e. '8' did not change the font size for me.

Thanks for your great work.

I suggest this : http://www.wowinterface.com/download...eknicolor.html

Anyway, this could very well replace my ol' Chatter, but then I miss some features that I wish was at least optional in BasicChatMods : highlight & custom sounds for highlight and channel activity.

I'd love to see a module that disables chat fading.

I'm releasing v3.3

This version contains a fix in the URLCopy module to prevent your chat completely breaking come wow 3.1

If you don't want to loose your settings, you only need to replace the "BasicChatMods.toc" file and the "urlcopy.lua" file

The same thing applies for v3.31 if you don't want to loose your settings, you only need to replace the "BasicChatMods.toc" file and the "urlcopy.lua" file

As far as I know, this is caused by another addon that hasn't been properly updated for 3.1, could you please confirm that it works with only BCM enabled?

How to change time format to: HH:MM? I tried different combos from http://www.lua.org/pil/22.1.html but they all produce error

This is the default:
Code:
	if i ~= 2 then -- skip combatlog
		h = _G[format("%s%d", "ChatFrame", i)]
		hooks[h] = h.AddMessage
		h.AddMessage = AddMessage
	end
According to the info on http://www.lua.org/pil/22.1.html it should produce the SSD(second-day?!?) time format, but instead it works just fine and produce the HH:MM:SS time format.

I tried changing the above to:

Code:
	if i ~= 2 then -- skip combatlog
		h = _G[format("%H%M", "ChatFrame", i)]
		hooks[h] = h.AddMessage
		h.AddMessage = AddMessage
	end
but it produced error

P.S. Also I just found a bug in the forum engine of wowinterface.com. The "Disable smiles in text" option is not working

I don't think you properly read it, the only thing you change is local tformat = "whateveryouwant"
