LoseControl  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.41
by: Kouri [More]
LoseControl makes it easy to see the duration of crowd control spells by displaying them in a dedicated icon onscreen.

Features:
* Displays duration of all CC spells and abilities on your player, pet, target, focus, party, and arena enemy frames.
* Automatically displays the most important buffs/debuffs first.
* Integrates directly with Blizzard unit frames.
* Icons can be moved, resized, and made transparent.
* Compatible with OmniCC.

New in 5.41:
* Added Turn Evil (Evil is a Point of View) [Paladin]

New in 5.4:
* Fixed Entrapment [Hunter]
* Added Bloodbath [Warrior]
* Changed Warbringer to root instead of CC [Warrior]

Known issues:
* Unlocking frames does not show arena enemy frames if they are anchored to Blizzard frames (because they don't exist unless you're in an arena).

To Do:
* Options profiles.
* Button skinning.
* Improve OmniCC support to work with all strata levels.
* Blizzard raid frames support.
* Pitbull support.
* SUF support.
* Italian support.

same with target ?

Hi, is it possible to add identical icon, but for your target/focus ? I really miss that functionality, is it difficult? Will just copying addon and replacing s/self/target/g do the thing ?

There are a ton of hunter pet abilities with fairly unique names that all do various immoblizes/stuns/disarms/snares/etc. Just going through the list of pet family subcategories on wowhead, it should be easy enough to implement.

I don't use any boss mods in PvE (they use up too much memory, provide useless information, and I find them generally annoying), but this addon is the perfect way to keep track of important debuffs.

Content is pretty easy now, so it's not really necessary, but adding:
Positive Charge/Negative Charge (Thaddius)
Mutating Injection (Grobbulus)
Detonate Mana (Kel'thuzad)
etc.
is very convenient.

Especially when/if they ever release Ulduar, adding a "PvE" category (even if it's mostly empty) would be useful for learning new encounters.

Also, I don't know if there's an easy way to monitor this, but adding school-specific interrupts (i.e. pummel, kick, normal counterspell) to the silence section might be helpful.

The easiest way to do this, I believe, would be checking the cooldown on a cooldown-less ability - and, whenever it's over 1.5 seconds, to display its CD on the frame. Don't know if this is realistic though.

Thanks for the bug-fixes

Haha, getting zerged down like a raid boss. Yeah that's what inspired me to make the mod actually. Sometimes in BGs I'd get hit with like 5 CCs at once and I'd be like, "wtf, how long til I can actually do something?"
Anyway, the spellIds are only used to generate the localized names for the spell. So anything named Intercept would work.
What hunter pet abilities can CC? I'm about to put out another update with a Chinese translation.

I guess I just don't pay enough attention to my snare debuffs when I'm getting zerged down like a raid boss. That is really noticeable mechanic when playing as a frost specced DK (Chains of Ice, Chilblains, Glyph of Blood Boil...all differently applied but, there can only be one).

There are a number of hunter pet abilities that should probably be added in, as well as the warlock's Felguard's Intercept which likely uses a different spellID than the Warrior's Intercept.

I think the main issue with leaving it to one icon is the length of many snares. They would overwrite the generally shorter stuns, silences, etc.
Yeah, I agree that roots/snares should go into their own frame because of their longer duration, and this is why they are disabled by default.
Tracking snares is a tricky thing, as the one with the longest duration is not necessarily the strongest one.
The game takes care of this automatically. For example, if a player is affected by Crippling Poison and you Hamstring them, it won't apply the debuff. Only the strongest snare is applied.
There are likely still a handful of spells missing from the default list (Icy Clutch from the DK frost talent Chilblains and Frost Grenades come to mind), but most everything is covered.
Nice catch, I'll add those to the next version.

Ideally I would say the mod gives four optional icons for yourself. One for CCs, one for disarms, one for silences, and one for snares+roots. If you could give a priority system to make any root always appear over any snare, and be able to determine which snare is stronger (Crip Posion vs Hamstring...chains of ice would make this a pain), it would be really cool. That might take too much though.

For party member tracking, having a moveable icon just like now that defaults to the party frame should work just fine. Can't wait too see how that turns out.

1.3 is out

OK I added new CC categories to track but reneged on having multiple frames for now. The main reason being that I wanted to get the extra features done and released as soon as possible, and also because I felt that multiple icons would add too much clutter to the screen and I wanted to keep it simple.
The two main bugs that Maldazzar mentioned have been fixed.
For people that like customizing the mod, you can still do it, but you have to get the spellId first (easiest way is to go to wowhead and look at the URL for the spell).

I think the next big thing I want to tackle is the party monitoring. I personally use the default Blizzard frames (omg noob, right?), so the most logical place I can think of atm to display the CC icon is right over the character portrait, but people who use custom party frames can move the icons around.
Other ideas for this are welcome of course.

Hey, I'm glad you like the mod. Thanks for mentioning Blackout and Impact, I'll add those in the next version.
Here's an update on what I'm working on:
* Converting to spellIds (to remove the need for translations).
* Adding multiple frames. Options to pick which frame to use for each category of debuff: CCs, Silence, Disarm, and Roots (and possibly Snares, but there are just so many I don't think it's really worth it. Some people might want it? I dunno.)

Your idea for party monitoring is interesting. It would be possible to do... I think the hard part would be coming up with a good UI for configuring it. I'll think about it.

The extra silence/disarm windows are a cool idea. As a Death Knight, both are very important.

I laugh when it comes up in PvE when a mob uses a generic CC spell, for example the Unholy Staff mobs after Razuvious casting Polymorph.

I like how easy it is to add new spells in. I added in a few small stuns like Blackout and Impact. If I ever wanted I could add in any important debuff(s) from a PvE boss with no fuss. I really like that flexibility.

Thinking a bit outside the box, would it be possible to make an extra monitor for party member(s)? It'd be especially useful in high rated arena matches, to see when your healer gets hit with a kidney shot or whatever. This seems like one of the best and easiest ways to display that kind of information.

As always, thanks for the feedback.
1) Hmm, yes that is what should happen. I'll try to fix that asap.
2) Not sure how this can be fixed yet. I'll either have to convert all the debuffs to use SpellIDs instead of names (this would eliminate the need for translations, but require a lot more IDs to consider all the different spell ranks, plus it wouldn't work in PvE), or I might have to make a special case just for Wyvern Sting.

Also thanks Soddi for doing all the hard work to make that Silence conversion. I think for a future version I will incorporate silence tracking into the main mod as an option. Maybe I'll work on it this weekend.

two small bugs:
1) if a CC is refreshed before it breaks, the cooldown spiral doesn't update.
for example, I get sheeped (10 seconds). when 2 seconds are left on the sheep, I get sheeped again (5 seconds)

What *should* happen (I think), is the LoseControl frame resetting to a 5 second spiral. In reality, though, the icon (from the 10 second poly), ticks down to 0, and then remains entirely grayed out until the debuff fades.

2) when I break wyvern sting early (using will of the forsaken or trinket), I am still affected by the poison DoT associated with the ability (so the icon still shows up)

also, soddi:
it's "Garrote - Silenced", not "Garrote - Silence"

I "wrote" a silence version. It's just copy/paste LoseControl into a new addon in a few minutes. All thanks for this addon at Kouri.

LoseControlSilences (based on LoseControl 1.23) - http://files.filefront.com/LoseContr.../fileinfo.html

I only included German and English localization. Don't know, if the spells are complete. I wrote into the localization.en.lua:

Code:
LoseControlSilencesAbilities = {
	-- Death Knight
	["Strangulate"] = 1,
	-- Druid
	-- Hunter
	["Silencing Shot"] = 1,
	-- Mage
	["Silenced - Improved Counterspell"] = 1,
	-- Paladin
	-- Priest
	["Silence"] = 1,
	-- Rogue
	["Garrote - Silence"] = 1,
	["Silenced - Improved Kick"] = 1,
	-- Shaman
	-- Warlock
	["Spell Lock"] = 1,
	-- Warrior
	["Silenced - Gag Order"] = 1,
	-- other
	["Arcane Torrent"] = 1
}
Maybe you recognise, thats created from the list from Maldazzar. Thanks to him =).

In case you want to save yourself some effort, here's a full list of blanket silence effects:

Warrior:
Silenced - Gag Order
Rogue:
Garrote - Silenced
Silenced - Improved Kick
Mage:
Silenced - Improved Counterspell
Priest:
Silence
Warlock:
Spell Lock
Hunter:
Silencing Shot
Death Knight:
Strangulate
Other:
Arcane Torrent

And Disarm effects:
Warrior:
Disarm
Rogue:
Dismantle
Hunter:
Chimera Shot - Scorpid

As a Warrior, though, Dismantle is just as bad as any other form of CC - there's no real reason to waste effort on a second frame. On my Priest, Garrote would be just as bad as Cheap Shot, etc.

Perhaps just a "Silence Effects" and "Disarm Effects" checkbox in the options menu, or even just a category in the localization file set to 0 by default.
