This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.
Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.
How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:
Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
Click the import button in the main panel.
* Be certain that you have the SlideBar and HUD active for at least the import. Afterward, you can simply deactivate them, again.
Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.
Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.
About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.
About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.
Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!
Change Log - GathererDB WoWHead
18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.
29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistancies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.
05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.
04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.
03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.
03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.
Hard to say, since it seems to have eaten the entire DB now. I wasn't messing with it at the time, I was raiding... but I had to reload WoW and now it's all gone.
But, prior, I was missing ALL the nodes I gathered, from every zone, except for the handful I'd gathered after importing the DB. Besides that handful, the only source I had listed was the imported DB... nothing from my guildies.

Where, though? Is this just Icecrown or the entire database?
Also.. not quite understanding what you mean. Do you still have nodes with your character's name attached, if so, which ones? What type do you think are gone, the same type or different ones?
Thank you,
Nikk
Edit: To narrow this down, check just the sort by source check box and then scroll through. Have gone through and done the import numerous times with this version and the previous ones, for testing- and it's never removed any nodes...
If this is only Icecrown, there could be an issue with the map != the zone token, but waiting on some feedback before we can say for certain.
Edit 2: Okay, try the new file, that should show the database information for IceCrown. As to your other data issue- no ideas thus far, let us know the answers to the questions, up above. Thank you!

I have a handful of my gathers, and the database ones. As well as all of mine vanishing, it's also wipe out all the gathers by my guildmates.

This should not even be able to do that- all it does is provide a data source from which Gatherer then imports the nodes. Much the same as when someone sends you some nodes...
Look in the database view and see if there are any nodes with your user name.
What we have seen, in the past, was that the import did not work for those without the HUD active.
It should not really matter- but that is one thing we have heard before.
Happy Gatherering,

That library is apparently part of Gatherer and if it's disable causes problems. Try reenabling it. I ran into this myself since I've never seen a mention of it anywhere, but upon looking at what Gatherer actually installed found Slidebar.

Originally posted by Khymaera I always thought the database import into Gatherer acted as a addition, not an overwrite?
I just downloaded and imported in the 12/3 update, and it appears to have overwritten what I already had. I say this, because all all my nodes in Icecrown vanished, along with any that weren't in the the database in other zones?
Originally posted by mhicaoidh I redownloaded and tried to import with no success. I disabled all addons except for Gatherer and the GathererDB ... same result. Minimap icon goes grey, nothing else happens. No import.
I am able to receive entries from other players in game via the gatherables list, and all new gathers populate, so I don't think it is an issue with writing to the database.

Try blowing away saved variables for Gatherer in ..\World of Warcraft\WTF\
And did you delete the Gatherer/GathererDB folders in Interface\Addons?

Just missed you on IRC... anyway, if you have not been there, you will likely not see the icons.
This behavior is more from Gatherer, than from the DB itself. Look for an update in the near future.
Happy Gatherering,

Thanks Nech,
Edit:
Nevermind. The painkillers are making me crazy. Yes, I'd been in Northrend, but as the GathererDB wasn't working, I temporarily used GatherMate. Went and mined a Cobalt node, and voila!.... artwork appeared.

No, I swear I'm not complaining, just making sure it's behaving as designed. My guess is that there's artwork coming and these are placeholders.

Originally posted by mhicaoidh I deleted the old GathererDB_Wowhead folder, and downloaded "GathererDB_Wowhead_03_Dec_2008a.zip" and unzipped it into my Addons folder. When I open Gatherer 3.1.8, click on Database, and click on Import, my minimap button goes grey, my minimap tracking icons go away, and nothing else happens. It does not import the nodes.
Interestingly, though, on the Database page of the settings it reads:
Perform import of Wowhead 1.0.2008- 12-02 DB: < Import > Data provided ... (etc.)
