WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:
  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Why the Database import can't past 95.1%.

Poking at the included DB_WowheadData.lua file seems to suggest that a vast majority of nodes are downright missing, including absolutely no entries for Hyjal.

I had cleaned out my WTF folder yesterday, logged in and tried to import the database. After 90.4% the loading bar just vanishes and nothing seems to have loaded. I checked the map for nodes (including old places like STV, Netherstorm, Barrens, Sholazar Basin, etc) and see.. nothing at all. No nodes are showing up.

I'm getting a bit tired of losing all my own data every time there's been some update, but this takes the cake. I'm going to resort to my old WTF files (thank god for not having deleted them yet), but I really hope this gets fixed soon; it was quite the anti-climax to finally get a database update and then find out it's even worse than the old stuff. Gatherer used to be such an awesome addon..

Same issue, and HUD was enabled as well as Slidebar. No new mining nodes. I'm sure it will get worked out. Been looking forward to this one for awhile!

I got the same problem. The DB import stops at 90,4% and no new nodes (herbalism) are showing. I have followed all instructions and I have used GathererDB before so I guess this must be a bug or something.

Anyway, thanks for a great addon. Good luck fixing this issue.

Do you mean that the progress bar hangs at 90% or that it completes? It should be fairly quick and that may be the last point noted before completion. If the bar appears, fills, and then disappears, that usually means the process completed. If the bar sits on the screen at 90%, then there is likely some file corruption, locally.

One thing to try , the "tired" bug is affecting me, too, apparently... Since some other AddOn may be interfering - go to the main WoW AddOns Cotrol Panel and only activate, with the gold checkmark, Gatherer, GathererDB_Wowhead, GathererHUD, SlideBar, and Swatter - and then try the import. If someone ever finds which one does cause issues, kindly let us know. This has been a thorn for a couple years now. TY!
-cut-
I haven't had the 90% problem. The Db appears to import fully, but when the report is opened in the config _all_ of the nodes that show as being imported from the wowhead_db are "Unknown" followed by various strings of numbers. These nodes appear on the map as empty circles (ie, a ring, not a filled in circle).

I'm zapping back data to Wowhead as fast as my little dwarven legs can carry me around the zones (levelling mining from scratch on one level 80, carrying on with mining at the top end while levelling from 80-85 on another alt, ditto for herbs - one fresh new herbalist and one "old hand" - and so forth... oddly enough, they are all dwarves). I figure I'll just keep adding to my DB (and snarfing data from guildmates etc) and chucking it back up the pipe to Wowhead and will check back for another update after the New Year

Happy Holidays

Re: Data puzzle, et al...

Uploaded my Gatherer.lua here from C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\<account name>\SavedVariables\

If one of the team members renames their Gatherer.lua and uses mine, they will see all the data that was imported on my laptop from GathererDB_Wowhead. There are many nodes that just show up as "Unknown," as well as many missing zones (Netherstorm only shows one type of herb and nothing else, for instance).

Not sure if having my import will help or not, but there it is!

Edit: VirusTotal.com scan for the untrusting

Red face Data puzzle, et al...

Folks,

Kindly bear with us as we try to get things a bit sorted, there seems to be some disconnect between what is requested, what comes in, and then what is included - so it will be a few days. No access to the game nor much of any time until about the middle of next week, so do not expect much before then.

Please keep in mind that this is supposed to be fun, after all. Keep grabbing your own points and running the Wowhead Client and we can get things sorted, eventually- and take some time out of WoW to spend with Family and Friends!

Hope that everyone has a great holiday, whether you celebrate it or not, and wish everyone Peace and Posterity in the coming year.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk (and the rest of the team at Norganna's AddOns)

Seraph_Six,

Ah, could be - basically wanted to be sure that at least the data did import. The items that were returned can be seen in the file, sorted by area.

Will have to talk with them and see what we can do to fix this. Not able to get into WoW or able to spend much time at all on this for the next few days, so flying a bit blind until the middle of next week. Will see if we cannot at least get a bit more filled out, in the GathererDB_Wowhead, before then - but no promises.

Appreciate the hand!

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Yep, but not all of them.

Just a quick glance at my DK miner: missing nodes in Desolace, Mulgore, Stonetalon, just to name a few. But nodes are appearing in others, such as Feralas, Un'goro, and Winterspring. There are far more zones missing nodes than not.

Most of Northrend is also missing nodes, except for cobalt in Borean and Fjord. But no cobalt nodes show up on my Dragonblight map, so it isn't just a node-type issue. Storm Peaks shows everfrost chip nodes, but no mining nodes at all, so it may not be a zone-specific issue, either.

It may just have to do with the order in which information was exported from the Wowhead database. It looks like it just stopped importing data in the middle of the process.

Edit: as an additional note, I had deleted my existing Gatherer database from my laptop before importing, just to make sure I wasn't pulling out any old data.

Seraph_Six,

It all depends on what is sent back to us. We do intend to keep releasing updates as there is new data and when we have the time, so it should not be all too long before things are back to "normal" with a relatively full load of goodies. Until then, folks will have to get out and dig around the old fashioned way.

Not sure why folks are having load issues, though - just to be sure, you do have some nodes listed with GathererDB as the source, after running the import, right?

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk
