GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

No Northrend and EP is all wrong

The "GathererDB_Wowhead-1.0.2008-11-07.zip" has no Northrend data in it.

The Eastern Plaguelands data is all wrong because Blizzard had to modify the EP map when they added the coastline areas.

If this version was not supposed to have the Northrend data I'm ok with that. I was hoping it would. If it was to have the new data...then the file didn't get the data or the importing is broken.

Any chance for an updated database being uploaded here soon? Been flying around Northrend trying to find some of the mining nodes seen on Wowhead.com, but not finding most of them.

Hi there, Keller999,

All of the nodes that WoWHead had set have been included in the uploaded file.

Obviously, nodes are being added to the database daily, so once they are verified, they will be included, we will receive a copy of the data, and the data will be ported into the GathererDB.

Until then, any items that you gather will be added to the map and local database, just as before. Since we do not have an ETA on the update, that is you best bet for the time being.

Happy Gatherering,

As far as I can tell, the DB has no Northrend items yet. The raw data files doesn't mention any zones outside of the old ones.

Anyone have an ETA on when the DB will be updated? It's driving me crazy to have to herb blind!

Thanks guys for this. Always been a big fan of Auctioneer so i'm loving all this. Hope this file keep working for a long time to come (Though of course at one point all nodes are mapped)

I'm just wondering if there are any Northrend nodes added all ready? Specially for Herbing

Someone had to "First!"

38 favourites and still no comments, is either a good sign or ...

Thanks to Norganna for coding, Esamynn for maintaining Gatherer, MentalPower and NeChkn for the glue that keeps us all sane-ish and not to forget all the other coders and helpers at Norganna's addons; Skosiris and Mystadio for getting together one of the few Web2.0 projects that's actually done Right(TM) [WoWHead, for those who didn't know!], WoWHead's helpers and hanger's on ; Cairren and Dolby for WoWI; and myself for something or other as soon as I work out what it is I'll let you all know.

Also big thanks to the AddOn community as a whole. WIthout all of you, I firmly believe World of Warcraft would not be the success for Blizzard that it is today. I'd also like to thank Blizzard, and particularly Slouken and Zootfizzle, the public faces of their user interface team for being open and so receptive to the community's wants and desires.

But above all these fine folks, there's one person I really must thank.

Thankyou - the user. While many of us coders and admin types do stuff for ourselves and don't really care whether others use our stuff or not, we're constantly amazed and pleased that others find it useful too. Just by taking a look at someone's hard work at writing an addon, or their website, you make the efforts all worthwhile.
