DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

Did it not already have
Code:
type = "launcher"
in your copy? The one I downloaded yesterday did.

Strange

Hmm... strange. It wouldn't load for me under any circumstance. xD
I wiped out my savedvars, re-created my addon folder with just those 2, and a few other tricks.

I just added
Code:
type = "data source",
to the NewDataObject reg and it finally popped up.

I just downloaded and installed it and it was showing up for me. You could try creating a new profile and see if it shows up there and if not then your best bet would be to delete your settings for DockingStation and see if that fixes it. Or if you feel comfortable doing it, you could go into DockingStation's settings in the WTF folder and see if anything sticks out as out of place for that plugin.

Quick issue:
Mad Hatter doesn't display in the plugins list.

It has always worked fine until recently (I just started playing again after a 4 month haitus)... so I was just wondering what may have changed in the way DS handles listing the LDB mods.

It lists under Fortress, and it seems to be set up to register properly in the lua file.

It could be something stupid/simple, but I'm throwing it out there in hopes that you might be able to spot the issue.

(By the way... this has been my favorite display since you released it Good work, amigo. )

That needs to be corrected on the plugin side of things. It assumes the frame passed has a name when that is not always the case. The line:
Code:
ToggleDropDownMenu(1, nil, MiniMapLFGFrameDropDown, self:GetName(), 0, 0)
should be changed to:
Code:
ToggleDropDownMenu(1, nil, MiniMapLFGFrameDropDown, self, 0, 0)
That will make it work with any display, whether or not the display names it's plugins.

The height/width of panels is a percentage internally, it is just presented to you as pixels. So for 100% just make sure the width slider is all the way to the right.

I looked through a few lua files (Broker_Aileron for example) that do work just fine with DS, and found no lines that started with "label =", but I did add that line to Attrition's lua file, completed, and the "type = " line, both in order and with type first with a comma at the end after the quotes, as you stated, at the beginning of the lua file, and then added "end" as it showed up in places in the rest of the file. It might be the double shift I'm coming down from but is it really that cut and dry to fix all these undefined plugins that don't work with DS? I have to warn you that I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm giving it a shot anyway to get my plugins to work.

@Alekc: Yes you can either ask the addon author to correctly define their LDB type (which they should do anyway), you can use a different LDB plugin, or you can open the lua and edit this information yourself. If you want to do the latter, it will depend on the plugin, and you DEFINITELY should backup your data first, as your results may vary.

Usually within the lua of the plugin (located in the plugin's folder in the AddOns folder), there will be a line defining the LDB object. The easiest way to find this line is to open the lua file in a PLAIN text editor like Notepad (Windows), and look for something that says

Code:
label = LabelName
Where the LabelName will be the label you see in your LDB display. Somewhere near the end of this function, you can add the following line:

Code:
type = "data source"
Be sure to add this BEFORE the "end" statement. You can also add it right before the "label" function, but if you do so, please add a comma ( , ) to the end of it. Again, this is just a hack, and your results may vary, so if you try this and have issues, don't come back here complaining to Vrul. You're welcome to send me a PM on this site and I'll try to help you if I can.

EDIT: BTW, I noticed you're the one wanting BasicBrokers to display. I'm leaving the above up for other who might need the help, but for BB specifically, you'll need to open the lua and add

Code:
type = "data source",
after line 13. Be sure to copy and paste the line EXACTLY as it appears above. That should fix your issue. Also you should tell the addon author to add this, as it is the correct way to set up ldb plugins. If this doesn't work for you, please send me a PM and I'll actually install BB and see how to make it work.

Just as an aside, there are a lot of other brokers that you can use for this that are correctly defined, and don't require 50 downloads either. Broker Everything is one of these sets, and works with DS without any hacks.

What version of DockingStation are you using that still has LibJostle-3.0 rev 48? Either update to the latest version of DockingStation (v0.4.3, 10 Jun 2010) or manually install the most recent version of LibJostle-3.0

Well, I had gone from the 0.4.2 beta to the fixed 0.4.3 (I think) or whichever was the one with the bug that had resetting positioning issue. Though I hadn't used a 0.4 build prior to that so I couldn't say for sure.

I guess we'll see when a 0.4.4 rolls around. Thanks for the quick reply!
