A Stalker enemy player popup menu

Stalker

World of Warcraft addon for detecting, managing, and tracking hostile players.

Currently entering beta phase. Please be detailed in all bug reports.

Features

Detect enemy players (Horde or Alliance) in your area and see a list of the most recent activity.
Indicate if enemies are engaged in PvP, what they are casting, and who they are targeting.
Track kills of, and deaths by, enemy players and guilds.
Keep notes on enemy players and guilds.
Mark enemy players and guilds as KOS (Kill On Sight) and get alerted when they are detected.
Turn on Tracking for an enemy player and get alerted when they are detected by another Stalker addon user.
Send enemy position alerts to most channels (Say, Yell, Guild, Party, Raid, or Whisper)

Modules

Stalker Monitor - Shows the most recent enemy player activity. Player information is on the left, and spell and target information is on the right. Players in this window will fade out over a short period of time if there is no activity from them.
Stalker Viewer - Shows a history of all enemy player and guild encounters. It contains player information, kills, deaths, and your own notes. Player without kills, deaths or notes will automatically be removed after 24 hours.
Stalker Alerts - Fully configurable alerts that tell you when enemy players, KOS players/guilds, and Tracked players are detected.
Stalker Agent - When you are Tracking players the Agent communicates with other Stalker addon users and alerts you if someone detects the the player.

How it works
Stalker works by monitoring your combatlog. When it hears someone close by it attempts to guess their level and class based on the spell that they cast. So if it hears someone cast a Rank 5 Siphon Life, it identifies them as a Level 63+ Warlock. Note the + after the 63. This indicates they may be higher, but we only know they are at least this level. Once you target or mouse over the player Stalker will be able to determine definitively their level and the + will be removed.

What Stalker DOESNT do

Doesn't give you special abilities. All its doing is monitoring your combatlog and making that data more accessible. There will be times where you see an enemy right in front of you, but if you don't target or mouse over them, or they are not casting anything, Stalker wont know about them.
Doesn't tell you precisely where players are. The map coordinates that it generates for enemy players are YOUR position when you detected them, not theirs. There is no accurate way of determining their position. But since the range of the combatlog outdoors is 100yds, you know they are close if its alerting you about them.
Doesn't work in Battlegroung and Arenas. It's designed for world PvP.

Fixed bug with KOS Guild introduced in last commit.
Fixed bug where GetZonePVPInfo() was not reporting that player was in a sanctuary immediately after login. Added a initialized flag to delay combatlog and player targeting 5 seconds.

Fixed a bug where Agent chat channel was being joined to soon which caused it take the /1 slot. Added a 5 second delay.

it worked, but after relogging again the stalker channel is back in /1

I personally use MSBT - and I like to keep a clean unified look. If I want to change something within notifications, I can just change 1 area and have all things hooked into it changed as well. Using the hooks in MSBT you can still have sounds/screen flashes/etc - just the notification on screen is sent through the MSBT system. The author of MSBT provides ample documentation from what I've looked at, I just don't know enough about LUA programming to add it myself.

You'd obviously have this as a user selectable option, because not everyone will want to use it. When selected it would need to have the ability to disable the built in notification area. The author of MSBT includes 4 areas of where the events can be displayed, this might also be user selectable in your addon. I suggested the same thing to the author of AggroNotifier and he added it, and I love it.

2 last things: I'd like to have Stalker disabled in Capital Cities, and if no one is detected have the little window auto-hide (or fade) so it's not in view. Reason is that in a capital city if there is an attack, I get notification through the Local Defense channel, and reason for auto-hiding is again just to keep a clean look in my ui. Edit: After getting home I realized that maybe this was another addon I dloaded and tried last night - I'll double check here in a moment, because what I saw looks nothing like the screenshots - lol. Forgive me, I've been having some RL (GF) problems and haven't been playing much... I'd still like an auto-hide window if it isn't already a feature

Other than that, I'm really enjoying the addon and I think it's coming along nicely. With the author of Paranoia saying on his curse page that his heart really isn't in it anymore for the re-write, I was starting to look for an alternative and I think I just found it. Having one of these type of addons is IMO a necessity while playing on a PVP server like I am. Last night I was fishing in southshore, and horde decided to attack, if it weren't for Stalker I probably would have died - but I was able to see and get out of there in time.

I say that because I have to click the icon every time I start the game to have the window show. Best, is it possible to have it show only when detecting enemies / KoS... and last for a given time till it fades ?

There is some great info in your post. Stalker does support click targeting out of combat. I hadnt considered workarounds for in-combat targeting. I will look into it.

tebryn A Kobold Labourer Forum posts: 0 File comments: 7 Uploads: 0	feature request. from the feature list you have, you have almost all the features i have been looking for from one combat log monitoring addon for some time. the only other major thing would be nice is the ability to click target names (in and out of combat). i know this is hard to do. but from what i have been able to gather, you make secure buttons while out of combat. that allows those buttons to be click-able in combat, and while in-combat, create unsecure buttons to display additions to the watch list (that won't be click-able until they are converted to secure buttons once you leave combat.) I have used Paranoia:EPA for a while now. but its click targeting is solely from unsecure buttons, preventing you from being able to click target in combat. but maybe you can get some ideas for other features from it. http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/12054/ The author has been intending an extended total addon rewrite for a while now. but the current release still works. another that has good features but is intended for Arena is Proximo. I havn't been able to test it yet myself, but from what i understand it works something like my description above. except using Arena ID's to target. http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7312.html i hope all this rambling makes some kind of sense. I'll be trying your addon out when i get back to my personal computer.
