Skada Damage Meter  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.8.2
by: zarnivoop, funkydude, oscarucb

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is very easy to extend, and there are many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality, such as:

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

I'm getting some horrible text outlining that started happening when I updated to the most recent release of Skada. Any idea what it is and how to get rid of it?

This is fixed in 1.2-15.

Could it be another add-on that is causing a problem?
Skada frames are moved by dragging (click and hold left mouse) on the title bar.

Fairly certain this is bugged at the moment. Have been unable to adjust the frame position as well, since the new frame is wider and off set in my UI.

You can report damage done to a specific mob. To do this, switch to the Enemy damage taken mode, click the mob you are interested in, then shift-right-click the window and choose Report, and go from there.

In the next version I am adding a small button for opening the menu, as people often ask how to do this.

I could be missing something, but my Skada keeps defaulting to display "Current fight" under segment, instead of total data. Unless I choose a segment, I want it to always display the total data. Is there any way to make that the default?

Is there any chance of getting an option to make a window completely ignore the mouse (ie click-through)?
I'd like my threat window to be more visible during combat, but I invariably click on the darn thing and I'm stuck watching damage at that point. If my window (or globally all windows if that is easier) were immune to my mouse, my life would be much simpler. I am cool with changing window settings via the LDB launcher.

Thanks!

I have Skada set to display 10bars max, but here's my problem. When I check the box for the display to grow upwards instead of down, it shows the last 10 people in the frames (though it does at least grow upwards), not those that are highest. Am I missing something?

I guess I should first ask, is this normal memory usage? and if not; which modules should I disable for best performance?

I loved how low profile this was earlier in development, it was the main selling point for converting a few guildies from Recount, but somewhere along the line it went from using 200kb with data to +50x that. Don't get me wrong, I love the new additions, but its making me eat my words when I told guildies "screw that recount mem hog!".
After a data reset Skada should be much lower than 6.5MB. That said, it will take some time until the memory goes down, as that is lazily done by the Lua garbage collector.

Also note that with multiple profiles, only the active profile is reset when clearing data. Skada will still take up the full memory of all profiles.

But yes, Skada collects quite a bit more data than it originally did. I have not measured it, but I would say that SkadaDeaths and SkadaEnemies are fairly big memory hogs.
