PartyBars
Version: 1.1.30300.10
by: DeFood [More]
PartyBars is a simple addon I wrote when Benecast stopped working with the release of Burning Crusade.
It fills my needs as a easy to configure, too simple to fail, ultra lightweight addon that adds action buttons to the Player and Group member frames.

Unashamedly it supports my own playstyle - the action buttons used for the Player Frame are from Action Bar 2.
Hunters and Warlocks get a set of Pet buttons starting from action Id 75, and PartyMember and PartyMemberPet frames start at action id 109.
I tried to ensure that there are no collisions with Stance's but thats not always possible.

To Configure - they configure the same way normal action buttons do - drag a spell icon or macro icon out your spell book (or macro book). Unfortunately, do to the default placement of the spellbook frame it is sometimes difficult to configure the Party Member buttons :- drag to a visible action button, close the spell book, then dragging to desired location is the only way to achieve this now.

Re: Really?

Yes, shaman timers looks strange too (now they are under unitframe). And partybars is too small when scaled interface is on. Maybe it should be better to place buttons not under, but over unitframe?

Something like this

Really?

If I could find a better layout that would be great. I was inspired by an Addon called Benecast that just never seemed to get updated. And it used to irritate me because the Benecast buttons were autoconfigured for your class... but that meant you couldn't add a simple macro.

I have tried, so far, to make PartyBars just-do-the-right-thing. Its 99% xml, and a tiny piece of lua that just shifts things around a bit to make space for pet frames.

Unfortunately there are some problems with my scriptless approach, the layout as it currently stands overlaps the Death Knight rune display area, Druid moonkin form gets a really strange bar thats pretty unusable: if I fix that however the only button ids I can use would cause Warriors to display one of their stance bars as player or group member buttons which would make no sense.

Also, I fear sadly, if I get enough time to spend developing and testing the lua to use a scripted configuration to bypass these issues, id would be because I was bored with playing wow and would be quitting soon.

It's only one problem, with scaling interface it's too little... can you add an option to hide the second row and enlarge the buttons? I've seen one mod (very old) where buff buttons were like yours, but around unitframe, not only underor at right. If i'll find this mod, i'll post link and picture.

It is quite possible. But a bit overkill. PartyBars I made to fill a need, and I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible.

I have a new layout for the new 3.3. version - i was finding the space waste to be a bit much myself.

I eventually discovered it was Xperl that was causing the issue. This addon at one point was simply 5 bars that you could place anywhere. Is there a simple way to make the bars visible and movable? I cant find a single addon of this type that will work.

UnitFrame support.

I use Blizzard functionality where it exists, so Ive only tested with the default UI.
I attach the action bars to PlayerFrame, PlayerPetFrame, PartyMemberFrame1..5 and PartyPetFrame1..5

*IF* you use a unitframe addon that replaces the standard UI with identically named replacements, then PartyBars might work - but the positioning might be off.

?

Does this work with XPerl Unit Frames? or only the Blizzard defaults?

I've been looking for a Benecaster replacement.
