oUF Asym UI - Widescreen  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.5
by: Dawn [More]

Main purpose of creating this UI was to create a lightweight interface that runs on my shitty PC, without losing to much utility and without looking like crap.
The name simply comes from my oUF layout. This UI is build around it.

The UI basically doesn't need a setup ingame, since version 1.9. All custom settings can be done by lua.

oUF_Asym UI is made to work for 1440x900, it works out of the box for 1680x1050 and 1920x1200, ... should work for all widescreen resolutions.

It comes with A LOT of different bartextures and fonts, see oUF_Asym fonts/texture folder and dArt folder.
There is also some nice art to play around with located in dArt/Art.

i.e.

I don't use any UI scale at all. I don't have this option checked. Or in other words this UI is basically build around an UI scale of 1.0.
If you are using another resolution as 1440x900, you might have to adjust your UI scale until it fits.

FEATURES:
- no setup, works out of the box for every (new) character
- very lightweight, it uses around 970kb of memory, around 1MB in raids
- a clean interface without glitches (even in combat)
- a lot of options to change the look of frameborders, textures...
- a lot of fun while playing .... hopefully
- last but not least, pretty decent support ... i'm trying, really! *cough*

NOTE:
1.) Pretty much any addon included in this UI is heavily customized, I don't take any credits for this.
However, you shouldn't update any of the addons, manually!
2.) If something spits out errors or stops working, tell me please.
3.) I will only support this to the point where it comes to bug fixing. If you want to customize it, you are on your own.
4.) Read the changelog, it contains usefull information!

SETUP:

1.) backup you font, interface and wtf folder
2.) Extract everything into your \WorldofWarcraft\ folder
3.) Make sure you rename YOURACCOUNTNAME to ... guess what ...

This and That:
* Blizzards Calendar is accessible by right clicking on the minimap
* Tracking is accessible by middle clicking on the minimap
* Chat frames minimize after 20seconds of inactivity - you can change the duration in Chicchai
* You can move all bag frames by holding ALT.
* to open a GM ticket type /GM or /ticket
* to reload your UI type /rl

Some addons that you can customize easily are:

*actionbars
rActionBarStyler\rActionBarStyler.lua

*unitframes
oUF_Asym\layout.lua

*chatframe (minimize/maximize effect, borders, background)
Chicchai\core.lua

*dFader (handles fade out of frames, when you are out of combat or without a target selected)
dFader\dFader.lua

*!LynColors (handles all kind of colors,... class colors, mana color, health color, ...)
!LynColors\core.lua

*dMinimap (Minimap addon, you can choose between round or square shape, change the borders, color, position, ....)
dMinimap\dMinimap.lua

Known issues:
1.) FogBG is used to display animated *.m2 files for the minimap. Some instances display *.m2 files different, there might be some glitches. It's still ok for my taste, since it doesn't happen that often. If you don't care for those fog animations at all, simply delete FogBG from your addon folder.
2.) Quality ID doesn't like "bound to account" items, it spits out an lua error while trying to show their itemLvl.

Mhm, I just tested it. Deleted my whole interface folder and just copied all oUF addons in there - from version 2.2. It works just fine. You must have done something wrong.

I love the look of your unit frame layout and tried to just install your layout. Unfortunately it didn't work. I extracted all ouf folders, but the layout simply won't load. Is there any way to run them standalone?

I won't code this, but I would start with something like this

Code:
raidgroup:SetPoint('TOPLEFT', UIParent, 'BOTTOMRIGHT', -300, 300)
and than change the coordinates until it fits. However, keep in mind that the place you have choosen does not contain enough space for more than maybe 15 people raids. More people will overlap the minimap. Also, below the target of target frame is focus and pet frame located. So there's not really enough space to place it there, anyway, imho.

You could move Minimap and nClock. of course. And put raid frames in the very bottomright corner.

I'll play around with it abit and see if i'll figure it out myself. Best way to learn is practising.

Is there a possibilty that you could do this "code" for me so i can copy paste it? Would be awesome, but i can see if you cba. * hopes for a code* <3

Would be greatly appriciated.

Below "Spawning the frames" is the code to spawn all unit frames. That means you choose where to spawn them and where to anchor them.

The code for raid frames is this

Code:
--
-- raid
--
local raid = {}
for i = 1, 8 do
	local raidgroup = oUF:Spawn('header', 'oUF_Raid'..i)
	raidgroup:SetManyAttributes('groupFilter', tostring(i), 'showRaid', true, 'yOffSet', -16)
	table.insert(raid, raidgroup)
	if(i==1) then
		raidgroup:SetPoint('TOPLEFT', UIParent, 'LEFT', 40, 55)
	else
		raidgroup:SetPoint('TOPLEFT', raid[i-1], 'TOPRIGHT', 15, 0)
	end
end
The most important line to position the raid frame is this (the others have to do with spacing between raidmembers, etc.
Code:
raidgroup:SetPoint('TOPLEFT', UIParent, 'LEFT', 40, 55)
LEFT means you anchor the first frame (group1 member1) to the left side of your screen. Left is like "middleleft" so to say, like CENTER is the absolut CENTER of the screen. The following 2 numbers are coordinates: X and Y, where 40 is X and 55 is Y. These can be negative or positive. They move the frame "away" from it's anchor. Let's say you have a 1pixel frame and you anchor it to CENTER it will be displayed right in the middle. If you add -200, 30 - it will be moved 200 pixels left (since it's a negative value, 200 would mean 200 pixels to the right) and 30 pixels to the top.

That should explain, I hope

Sure, but that needs to be done with oUF_Spellrange, which is pretty new. Since, range fading only works for party and raid, normally. I have to test it and if it works well I'll add it to the layout.

thank you for this update, I love the party targets. Would it be possible though to have the same out of range alpha as their parent frame? it's kinda strange if a partymember is out of range but his pet/target are both at full alpha.

Logged onto my druid for the first time in a while.

Very minor thing: druid mana bar shown when in a feral form is too long, not really matching the player health bar.

Also once again stumbled across an annoying problem that all leightweight bar mods bring: switching to a stealth bar won't work. Blizzard should really include stealth as a stance or something -.-
