Sound commands for every sound updated for MoP  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.4.2 (beta 1)
by: Bluspacecow, Eisa
Technically this isn't an addon. It's a zip that contains a text file that lists the /script commands to play almost any sound in game.

If it was in the MPQ files then there should be a /script command to play them. From 25 man raid bosses to the sound a Gnome Male makes when dying.

I've also included instructions on how to do this yourself if I ever drop off the face of the earth

Instructions for use

1) Unzip the zip file

2) Open up the large over 3 MB file whose file name begins with "WoWSoundsUpdatedTo" using Word, Wordpad, Notepad or any decent text editor. It's just a text file so anything that can read a text file should do.

3) Use Control-F ie the Find function to find what you need.

3) Copy that /script command with Control-C (copy)

4) Switch to the game

5) Press Enter to bring up a chat box

6) Control - V to Paste it in.

7) Press return. The sound should play

These script commands can also be used in Macros

Now before posting in the comments about looking for a sound please make the effort to find it first.

I'm not trying to be mean or rude it's just that I might not always have the time to find it for you. I might not even be able to login to the game to test that I've found the right sound for you as I could be answering posts at work. Try searching on the NPC name or alternatives of the NPC name. Don't be afraid to try ones you think it is. Once you've exhausted all reasonable avenues to find it yourself then post and I'm sure someone will be happy to help

I've spot checked a few but haven't tested every single /script command I've listed here. Let me know if some aren't working for you.

Bluspacecow's Favourites :
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\NPCGhoul\\NPCGhoulVendor04.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\NPCGeist\\NPCGeistVendor04.ogg")

Eisa's Favourites :
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Anubrekhan\\Anu_Naxx_Taunt01.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Loathstare\\Loa_Naxx_Aggro02.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Moroes\\MoroesSlay03.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Mortar Team\\MortarTeamReady1.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Wolf Rider\\WolfRiderPissed3.ogg")
(and many many more)

Elsa - For continued support in getting the list correct and accurate.

DISCLAIMER :

* While every effort has been made to keep this list as accurate and free of duplicates I make no guarantees that I haven't missed anything.
* Due to an existing bug/oddity in how the PlaySoundFile call works I make no guarantees that every one of what is listed will play. List is generated from what is listed in the data files and there is no easy way of checking what sounds will or won't play.
* Sound file paths and sound names are listed as they are spelt in the data files. If there are mispellings it's not my fault (and do not try to correct them)

Updated for 5.4.0 (build 17399) +1813 new sound paths since 5.3 Total new of sound paths brought up to 54,932
v1.0 initial version updated for 3.03 uploaded to forums at :

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13392160837&sid=1&pageNo=1

v3.2 Updated for 3.2. Going to do complete re-extracts from now on to ensure I get all sounds. Also using new version numbering system to make things easier on myself:)
v3.2.1 Much help from Eisa in getting Creature\LichKing sounds properly extracted. Had to relearn how to do this lol. Also reworked version history. Thanks for the assistance Eisa :)

19/09 rezip for windows plus misc cleanup of front page (nothing to see here ... move along :) )

v3.3 Updated for 3.3. 20,491 total sounds , +1618 from last update . As a side note your Data folder is 25.4 GB fully extracted

v3.3.2 Updated for 3.3.2 That one that finally unlocks the lich king wing of ICC ! Total unique sounds now up to 20,653 +162 since last update.

v3.3.3 Updated for patch 3.3.3 Looks like they've put in some sounds for Ruby Sanctum , the new gnomes & trolls get their own home cities patch as there is an extra 403 sounds in this update. 21,056 total sounds now

v3.3.5 Updated for patch 3.3.5 Not many sounds in this update only about 18 sounds bringing the total up to 21,074.
This author is badly in need of sleep *snoozes on nearest available flat surface* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
*starts drooling in his sleep* O_O

v4.0.3 *Eisa's BETA* Completely re-extract from World of Warcraft 4.0.3.13329 bringing the total up to 33,481. Included WoWSoundsSince335.txt which contains only the new sounds.

v4.0.6 *Eisa's BETA* Built entirely from (Listfile) data contained in World of Warcraft 4.0.6.13596 live MPQs, adding 7 new sound paths bringing the total upto 33,486. Included WoWSoundsSince403.txt. Removed 1 duplicate and 1 blank paths.

v4.1.0 *Eisa's BETA* Built entirely from fresh "(Listfile)" extracts contained in World of Warcraft 4.1.0.13914 live MPQs. Adds 876 new sound paths (listed in WoWSoundsNewTo410.txt). Total number of sounds is now 34,362 (listed in WoWSoundsUpdatedTo410.txt). This data is used in AudioX2-4.1.0 too.

v4.2.0 *Eisa's BETA* Built entirely from fresh "(Listfile)" extracts contained in World of Warcraft 4.2.0.14333 live MPQs. Adds 1,264 new sound paths (listed in WoWSoundsNewTo420.txt). Total number of sounds is now 35,626 (listed in WoWSoundsUpdatedTo420.txt).

v4.3.0 *Eisa's BETA* Built entirely from fresh "(Listfile)" extracts contained
in World of Warcraft 4.3.0.15050 live MPQs. Adds 1,472 new sound paths (listed
in WoWSoundsNewTo430.txt). Total number of sounds is now 37,098 (listed in
WoWSoundsUpdatedTo430.txt).

v5.0.5 (beta 1) Blu's attempt at updating it again. Be kind :P

Built by extracting all sounds as well as extracting all the "(Listfile)" extracts contained in World of Warcraft 5.0.5.16135 live MPQs. Adds a phenomenal amount of new sounds - 11,804 !! Total number of sounds is now 48,902 (listed in WoWSoundsUpdatedTo505.txt) . enUS locale only , other locales to be done ASAP

v5.0.5 (beta 2) Missed out on saving the linefeeds in the correct format. Should be properly formatted for both Mac and Windows now

v5.1 (beta 1) Updated for patch 5.1 Another large update - Adds 1143 new sounds bringing Total sounds up to 50,045

v5.1 (beta 2) Bug fix patch for the above. Forgot to change everything to lower case before using the Remove Duplicates command to remove cases where Blizzard's included both the upper case and lower case form of a sound. Removing 88 sounds bring Total sounds back down to 49,957

v5.2 (beta 1) Update for patch 5.2. Very large update - Adds 2492 new sounds after duplicates removed. New sounds Total now up to 52,449

v5.2 (beta 2) Due to favouring a list file approach versus a full extract with list files being used for error checking the slashes were going the wrong way. None of the macros were actually working. Forgot to test in game (whoops)

v5.3 (beta 1) Update for patch 5.3
- Adds 670 new sounds bringing the total number of sounds up to 53,119
- Read me file & documents restructured and reorganised

v5.4 (beta 1) Update for patch 5.4 (17399)
- Adds 1813 new sounds bringing the total number of sounds up to 5,4932
- Added experimental "Addedin5.4" and "Updatedin5.4" files . These are what I
believe has been added/changed and may not reflect reality.

v5.4.2 (beta 1) Update for patch 5.4.2 (17658)
- Adds 92 new sounds bringing the total number of sounds up to 55,024
- Includes the 9 new sounds from 5.4.1 , the Murloc Crusader sounds
(the only new sounds from 5.4.1)
- 5.4.2 build 17658 was a client only update. Last MPQ file with
new sounds = 17645 (base & enUS)
- misc admin related updates

EDIT: Disregard that lol its amazing what spelling things correctly will do ive got it all working now
If I had read this comment before opening the file I could have saved myself a half an hour. Yes, the hearthstone is:
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Spells\\PreCastNatureMagicHigh.ogg") Enjoy.

....I'm ... I'm speechless.

I've been just a finger away from giving up on this altogether. I've been using Ladik's MPQ editor but it keeps complaining about non verification of art.mpq saying part of it's corrupt. Had to yet to try a full extract of the other files.

And no offense intended to everyone that posting links to me to help but either the tools they PM'ed me about were 3 years out of date or was data originating from a Private server.

Blizzard changed their MPQ format for 4.0.1 so outdated tools aren't going to help me here and I refuse to use data from a private server as I can't guarantee the MPQ data has been modified to add 500 different Michael Jackson emotes

Thanks Elsa !!!

Rebuilt for WoW 4.0.3.13329

New beta list uploaded. Enjoy.

Edit: I should probably mention that the "beta" part of the soundlist version refers to the soundlist revision rather than the source data (which was from Live WoW 4.0.3 MPQs). Confused? Me too

Update : I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment guys.

Not only am I trying to catch up on all the stuff I missed out on doing while I was away at Blizzcon but I've also been made a MVP on the Mac Tech support forums so I'm trying to catch up on the posts on there.

Blizzard changed a lot of things in the backend for 4.0.1 and up which means finding new solutions to new problems.

Not only that but now that I have a decent Mac that can run virtualization programs / BootCamp I'm seriously thinking about completely revising how I do all this to use a different program. A new program that I may have to learn how to use.

Hang Tight guys I'l get to you as soon as I can

YAY!

In the meantime, I just muted the sound for the Launcher in the Vista sound mixer (the Launcher must be up or you can't see it in the mixer).

For Cata and possibly 4.0.1 onwards updates for this listing will be delayed. Blizzard changed the MPQ format to allow streaming to be possible.

Unfortunately this means the tools I use to extract the name of the files will not work

I spoke with the authors of the ones I do use on IRC about a month ago and he confirmed there will be a new version of MPQ Extractor coming out as soon as he can.

Before then it means I'll have to revise how I'm extracting all the names again >_> . The one bright side is there will be different file names in Cata so the process of extracting should be simpler . There's a "sound.mpq" and several locale based sound MPQ files.

Trinkets, Spells etc all tend to be in Sound\\Spells. If you can't find the trinket noise, then think where else you've heard the sound. But here, for your delight and delectation, is that most beloved of sounds.

/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Spells\\Seduction_State_Head.wav")

You can use AudioX to send clickable / autoplayable chatlinks for any sounds in the AudioX database (which is built from Bluspacecow's sound list - hence the collaboration). The only catch is that both sender and recipient need to be using AudioX.
