Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Donations are not required, but are appreciated!

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Focus and Focus target

Since the patch I can't get my focus or focus target frames to work. No idea why. They are checked under visibility and enabled.

I think they took down the 3.2.2 PTR, so you are likely out of luck on the HP numbers and power bar bug until the next round of PTRs. Are you using the latest git version from today? The offline bug might be fixed in that, might not.

Encountered a new bug while in a raid the other day. Raidleader relogged quickly, but in the raid frames he got stuck marked as offline. Even changed brightness when he went out of range/in range.

Fixed itself when he took damage however.

Screenshot: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/28546/Scr...209_163909.jpg

Also, still seeing issues in ToC HC with the mount vehicles and party pets. For warlocks/hunters with their pets out they still get the pet hp rather than the mount hp, and they get a colored power bar based on what their pet had. (Hp is fixed when they take damage, but the power bar remains). Gonna try with my shammy and the spirit wolves and see if the issue is present for the player frame too.

The health bar color issue should be fixed next push on github, it'll also have the updated debug code. Give it a try, it'll be up in 20-30 minutes.

It's not related to being in vehicles specifically, party pets/player pet use unique hiding code because they have to be hidden when their owners enter vehicles. Doesn't matter if you were using vehicles or not, they still use the same hiding code.

Also would be why targets are working but pets are not.

Thanks for the quick reply.

There were vehicles involved in the last two posts (the Brewfest boss summoner), but not with my post from 09-19-2009. Its more than a vehicle issue.

I'm not going to be able to look into the class coloring issue until later in the week.

The party pet issue seems to be a problem with how they are shown and hidden due to hiding them when entering vehicles. I'll have debug code up later today that will confirm that, but I can't commit it until servers are up.

Another one. It was the "Frame SUFHeaderpartyUnitButton2" person below who was missing their party pet frame; a DK ghoul.

Also, in this party it was not the last person in the party frame list with the green health bar, it was the third person's bar (second from last) that was green. It also was green after entering the instance (it was BRD for the Brewfest boss, entered via the remote control thing).

Ugh, didn't notice that the revised output included the party member's real names beside the parent dump GUIDs. Edited to remove.

The hunter was SUFHeaderpartyUnitButton4.

Out of Lunal, Crossbolt, Innocentangl, and Seksydk which one was the Hunter who didn't show, I take it it was Crossbolt? I'll look into the class coloring issue later, but I suspect it's simply an updating issue given it seems to always be the last person on the frame that bugs out. Don't need the debug code for that though.

Build 77325b7266c09242be5619edc9e573905763b218, 5-man party, one pet class (Hunter, who was not the lead). The Hunter's party pet frame never appeared during the entire instance run. The Hunter's health bar was also improperly colored green--even when I got close to him--until it switched to the proper class color after entering the instance.

The debug output near the end of the run inside the instance:

Also did two more 5-man runs later without a pet class in the party. Both times, the last person in the party order had improperly colored green health bars. Including at various times within the instances. Recorded debug output from them; would you like it as well?

I am sure I am missing something obvious, but I cannot figure out how to enable/see my party's targets.

Also, anyway to have the auras work in the party frames and not just the grid/raid frames (show a PW:Shield icon or highlight, or Prayer of Mending bounce, like Xperl does)? Great mod, thanks.

Yes, I get the identical behavior here. Its been going on through a few revisions, was going to post about it.

Seen with build a49534f15b4a0723dcb65b23a1c2aa7ea0101801. Happens in a party or a raid. For the Bars option section for both of those units, have "Color health by: Class" selected. Also have checkmarked "Color by reaction" and "Color on aggro". Do not have "Color by curable debuff" checkmarked for raid frames.

When the party or raid members are not near you and you (or they) have just joined the group, one or more of their health bars will be colored green. They will remain colored green until you get within range. As with the poster's screenshot above, the last few times here its always been the last person in a 5-man party list who is miscolored (with "Index, Ascending" frame sorting). The rest are properly colored.

Seems to be not switching between "Color by reaction" and "Color health by:" properly sometimes (the second one is supposed to always override the first). Or similar.

--------------------------------

And the latest party pet problem. Same SUF build as above. In a 5-man party with a Warlock and Hunter. Warlock had a Felhunter out, Hunter had a Wolf. The Wolf showed up fine in a party pet frame at all times during the run; the Felhunter party pet frame never appeared.

Used
Code:
/script ShadowUF:Debug()
at two different times during the run (the problem as described above was constant):

Code:
---- Child dump
