Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.7
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Donations
Donations are not required, but are appreciated!

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Shadowed Unit Frames
v4.4.7 (2024-02-23)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
  • Update TOC
  • Use high-quality class icon atlas
  • Update STAGGER_STATES global for 10.2
10.2 added a new table-type global `STAGGER_STATES` to replace the old decimal variables like `STAGGER_RED_TRANSITION`. These are now undefined (causing lua errors + stagger bar color doesn't work).
This commit updates SUF to get stagger thresholds in the [same way official UI code does](https://github.com/Gethe/wow-ui-source/blob/d4aa41ee5366c48fa8a04b9263afec45415c34d2/Interface/FrameXML/MonkStaggerBar.lua#L35).
  • Remove CheckInteractDistance from range checker, as its protected now
  • Fix Ready Check indicator display

Hiya Shadowed -

Nope, when I joined it was a 4-man Party sitting in Pinnacle resting/eating, they summoned me in from Dalaran. After a quick ready check we proceeded into the last few rooms, that's when combat started. I'm afraid I didn't notice if Fleshrender's pet wasn't showing from the get-go, or if it disappeared in combat.

The previous time this happened I wasn't joining an already established group, we all Partied up in Dalaran, made our way to the instance, and then the Main Tank (Party #1) lost his Party Target frame.

I'll try to troubleshoot a bit more as to the exact circumstances when this is happening, but I don't really do a lot of grouping so the reporting may be sporadic. I appreciate your trying to pin it down.

Just switched to these from Pitbull. Haven't really done much testing with it, but one feature makes me want to say quite honestly that I want to have your babies.

The export function instead of going with the Profile options of other addons is just absolutely brilliant and I don't understand why more addons don't do that. It's just so obvious and yet clearly genius.

Two things I noticed:

1) Is it possible to color health bars based on class rather than friendly/unfriendly?

2) Get an error if I try to enable Empty Bar (did it by accident):

Debug Info

Howdy -

Joined the tail end of a 5-man this evening, just long enough for two trash pulls and the end boss in Pinnacle. In the screenshot below you can see what's happening - Melkannat, Bacotel, and Jurrzee are all displaying their Party Targets; as well, Jurrzee is a Hunter, and his Party Pet frame is showing.

Fleshrender though, a Warlock, is not displaying the Imp he has out, or the fact that he too is targeting King Ymiron:

Below is the debug dump I grabbed - I notice that Fleshrender isn't noted in the 'Parent Dump' section, but of course what that means I haven't a clue. Hope this helps!

Will do, thanks for the quick reply. Earlier I was partied up with a single other guildie, and his Party Target continued to display through a multitude of combats, so not sure if it only happened because the group was full or what. He was a Warrior as well, not a Warlock or Hunter, so wasn't able to check Party Pets either.

But I have your debug script set to a macro on my action bar, next time I notice any frames disappear I'll be sure to report back.

Would be badass if you could add a detector for spell-stealable buffs, like in xPerl

I like SUF better though, here's a start I found somewhere

Code:
local frame = CreateFrame("Frame")
local function ScanStealable(self, event, unit, ...)
	if unit == "target" then
		for i = 1, MAX_TARGET_BUFFS do
name, rank, icon, count, debuffType, duration, expirationTime, unitCaster, isStealable = UnitAura("target", i, "HELPFUL")
if not name then return end
			if isStealable then
--do whatever you want to do, for example:
--[[ if name == "Innervate" or name == "LifeBloom" then
					--print("Steal "..name.." quick!")
				end --]]
			end
		end
	end
end
frame:RegisterEvent("UNIT_AURA")
frame:RegisterEvent("PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED")
frame:SetScript("OnEvent", ScanStealable)

Rats, I must take this back - did a couple of quick 5-mans this morning, and just before the first pull the Tank's "Party Target" was no longer displaying. The other party members' Targets still displayed, but not the Party Leader's. If I targeted him, his "Target of Target" showed up, but in the actual Party frames - couldn't get his target to show back up.

Am I the only one experiencing this? Hard to troubleshoot as there are no error messages, frames just aren't ... showing up.

Thanks,

i'm afraid the bottom-left setting didn't help.. as soon as i repositioned the frames where i want them, it always goes back to bottom right

Party Pets Not Displaying

Howdy -

Started using Shadowed Unit Frames about a week ago (to replace PitBull), and loving them! Great AddOn.

The only issue I seem to be having is with the Party Pets frames not displaying - they are there when I unlock frames, and everything shows up black for configuration, but when I'm actually in a Party with 'Locks or Hunters, they're pets don't show. Occasionally they'll show up for just a minute or two, when I first join a party, but even then they'll disappear quickly.

I notice in some of the change log notes from a while ago there were some issues with Party Pets, but it doesn't sound like this has been an issue for a long time (and I'm using the latest version).

Anyone else experiencing this? I would think it might be a conflict with another AddOn, except it seems to be *only* affecting Party Pets.

Thanks!

Zidomo: I can only thing of one reason why it would happen, try the latest github version and see if that fixes it.

cafebeannut: Try going to /suf -> Units -> Raid -> Frame and set it to anchor to the bottom left, then try redragging and see if that fixes it.

The aggro update code changes recently have made the bar-color-changes-on-aggro really quite slow now.

r20091020, WoW 3.2.2.10505 live. Most noticeable so far in a raid. When one person (in the standard raid frames) gains agg, their health bar doesn't change color (to the default red) for at least three seconds after being hit.

This is consistent behavior in every raid I've been in recently.

sorry for the long delay in getting this screenshot up for the party/raid frame placement issue.

ok, this is what i have...

i've only done a raid frame screen as my party frames would display in the same place. they actually display in the correct position, but not the correct order (they go from bottom to top, instead of top to bottom).

i've photoshopped the raid frame layout into the screen so you can see the order they're supposed to show, and if you look closely, you'll see that the position is also off. it's not something i hugely worried about, as i don't often go raiding, but it would be nice to have it fixed
