Shadowed Unit Frames  Updated less than 3 days ago!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: v3.8.9
by: Shadowed [More]
SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features
  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Currently released modules:
Aura indicators for unit frames
Smoothbars for unit frames
Trinket based tags
Damn Unit Sounds, not technically a SUF module it will restore the Blizzard sounds on targeting, focusing or toggling the PVP flag

Tagging as release v3.8.0

--------------------

Shadowed:
- Added incoming absorbs to UFs, shown in front of incoming heals and can be capped like incoming heals
- Release the temporary variables the mover is disabled to GC
- Reorganize and slightly optimize the incoming module so it can be used for other incoming type bars
- Remembered to update the options TOC this time
- Bars that override visibility (Alt Power) will now register their tags properly
- Refactored combo points and subset modules (holy power/shadow orbs/soul shards) to reduce duplicate code
- Refactor aura points to be completely within the combo points system to reduce potential bugs
- Don't reparent as it seems to break TargetFrame no matter what
- Set the size/point of the hidden frame so we don't get errors
- Removed the Clique shiv for menus as it's been fixed in latest Clique
- Cleanup Blizzard frame hiding - Reparent frames we hide to reduce the chance of them showing because of other peoples incompetence - Use CVars to hide the arena frames while out of combat to reduce the chance of taint issues
- Added support for Mage's Rune of Power
- Added assigned role sorting for 5.2
- Implemented 5.2 menu system, not tested on non-5.1, but you're downloading alpha, so it's your fault if it breaks
- Add a config flag to hide totem bars if no totems are active
- Fix the logic used to force the raid frames to update, and also clear the children points before doing it
- Name the cooldown frames cause Tullers a jerk
- Don't muck with CRF strata if we aren't hiding it and we are in combat
- Added Rogue's Anticipation as an Aura Points trackable spell
- Only cancel auras if you click on an unit that is the player, not type of player (oops)
- If the compact raid frames aren't hidden, bump the frame strata up on the frame manager (again)

Since you're the first person to ask, it's not something I plan on adding as an option.

If you open ShadowUnitFrames.lua and find EclipseBarFrame:UnregisterAllEvents() and just remove that line, it should make the eclipse bar show up.

I appreciate the timely reply. I use MoveAnything so that I can move the bar off the default player frame and into the desired position. I don't know if that changes anything from your answer I just would like to keep using SUF but can't stand that Eclipse bar and I thought maybe there was a way to disable SUFs control over that object. Thanks again.

You can't get it to show up, it wouldn't be visible anywhere anyway since it's not anchored to the player frame anymore.

I am having issues with SUF interfering with the default druid Eclipse bar. I don't want to use the bar attached to my player unit frame but cannot figure out how to get my default bar to show up without disabling SUF. Already tried searching for an answer, help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Odd, I can't imagine why this issue would only popup now.

Thanks for the very thorough report, since as you say, 5.0 is imminent, I'm going to wait and see if the issue persists in 5.0. If it does, I'll take a look.

SUF v3.4.4, Aura Indicators v2.1 or 2.3 (tried both), WoW 4.3.4.

OK, I've done some experimenting and basically this is the story near as I can tell:

Every time I:
  1. Change the active profile (on any character) OR start a new character that has never set up Aura Indicators before (even if that character has been using SUF for eternity)
  2. And then open/close the SUF options panel (/suf), or specifically select the Aura Indicators section of SUF options...

... I get this error, or many others like it:
Code:

Basically, it seems to be directly related to changing Aura Indicators "profiles" — if I directly copy a profile with a given set of Aura Indicators, then make modifications to them and save it as a new profile, I have no problems.

But if, from that same character, I activate a different SUF profile which also has a different (or nonexistent/default) Aura Indicators setup, then it starts throwing these LUA errors.

The issue is resolved by logging out (to character select) and then logging back in. However, this is temporary — the issue will always return the next time I switch profiles if they have any differences in their Aura Indicators settings.

At first, I noticed Gnosis mentioned as the addon causing an error (specifically this line: \libs\AceGUI-3.0\AceGUI-3.0.lua:314: in function `Fire'), so I tried disabling Gnosis, rebooting WoW, and testing again. This time, the error indicated MogIt. OK, disabled MogIt. Now it's ReputationBars (lol). OK, disabled ReputationBars. Eventually I disabled pretty much all my AddOns and the error source turned into SUF_Options. :p

I know 5.0 is imminent, but I'm bringing this up in case whatever error is occuring here is relevant to the post-5.0/MoP versions of SUF.

Did you not restart your game after updating Aura Indicators? That looks like you didn't.

As for the grouping by role, you're right. There's no way I can do it in SUF, Blizzard can do it because they can bypass the secure restrictions, but SUF would have to be rewritten to handle it.

Also, I have a very simple request. SUF is great, it's been my beloved unitframe replacement since WOTLK. I just have 1 thing I like better about the default UI.

The default UI's Raid Frames lets you choose to sort by 'Role' — it will group all the tanks, all the heals, and all the dps together based on assigned role (eg in LFD/LFR, or set manually by raid leaders in true pugs/guild runs).

Could you add this sort method to SUF's Party / Raid frames?

Edit: I did some research into the Frame UI and apparently this request might not be as simple as I thought. But I'll leave it here anyway in case it is doable ^^

Raid/Party Frames Problem

For some reason, my raid and party frames just disappeared. It stays that way no matter what I do...re-install, reset the settings, etc. They don't show at all, not even in the unlocked mode.

Any idea what would cause this? And yes, they are enabled in the "Enabled units" tab.

Again, they were also missing when I reset the settings, so it's not a screen position/anchoring issue.

Thanks.

EDIT: It's some kind of conflict with Chatter by the looks of it. No idea what it could be at this time.

First I would like to say that I really do like your addon (Shadowed UF). I don't know how you stand on the point of "feature requests" but I'll make one anyway and if you are not into that sort of thing feel free to ignore it.

What I'm looking for is something I had previously seen in various OUF layouts, a quick way to distinguish between my auras and the auras of other people. You did provide a several options for this such as enlarging them or not showing them at all.

What I wanted was to show all auras, mine and theirs, but to distinguish them by colour. The way I had seen this previously was that all non player cast auras were desaturated, greyscaled, and the player auras were shown in color.

I didn't really know how to make my own options so i resorted to abuse options already ingame that I didn't use. I started out by desaturating all auras with 'button.icon:SetDesaturated(true)' under the '--Size it' section in the modules\auras.lua, i moved the 'if' section for 'enlarge own auras' below my desaturation insert and abused the config options to toggle the desaturation on and off, 'button.icon:SetDesaturated(false)', instead of changing the scale of our own auras.

There might be some giant drawback to the way I have done this that I just have not noticed yet, but I might find it out eventually. But it does seem to be working and doing the trick quite nicely. But perhaps it would deserve a proper implementation, or naturally if nobody wants it I guess I'll just have to slap it in there myself whenever you update the addon.

Is there anyway to change Cur/Max HP (Short) from displaying as "158.1k/158.1k" to displaying as 158k/158k. Basically just want to remove the decimal point from the health

Edit: Nvm someone in my guild showed me how to edit the tags lua file to fix it.
