Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.0.7
by: Shadowed [More]

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Donations are not required, but are appreciated!

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Just keeps getting better and better, thanks Shadowed.

Request: Ability to hide all non-dispellable buffs from a given frame. A second option to hide all non-spellstealable buffs would be nice too.

Oh oops forgot I renamed UIParent, "Screen" is UIParent. If you have a version from a few months ago I'd start with a fresh SV since I remove upgrade code after a month to avoid 300 lines of upgrading code.

Just installed r20090804 as I wanted to move from X-Perl to a properly supported, yet sexy unit frame mod for 3.2. I did, though, have saved variables left over from an early revision last used/tested a few months ago. Long before r20090801.

There is no option for UIParent for anchoring. Only position (top left, etc.) & area (screen, player frame, raid frames, etc.).

Annekynn: Not planning on adding a flash/blink for highlighting right now.

Jappse: It's something I've been considering, but I'll likely just end up adding threat tags rather than an entire bar. Rather people use threat mods like Omen if they want specific threat info.

Under your Highlight section you have Highlight Debuffed. Is it possible to add a "Flash Debuffed" and make that frame essentially blink to better notify you that they have a debuff? Or at least any options governing how the highlight works.

Is it possible for you to add a threat bar? Like the one in blizzad UI but customizable? There is on in Stuf unit frames and i loved it. However now i'm using Suf and missing it alot

Mmmm probably not, rather not complicate the vehicle logic as it's a pain already.

With "Disable vehicle swap" checked, would it be possible to color the pet frame used for the vehicle with the same color as other vehicle frames are? Right now it uses the normal bright green color, instead of the darker one used in party/raid/possessed player frame.

Thanks for the reply.

Screenshots will take a while; dealing with a million other mod issues here. The party frame anchor points that were being used are the default ones that come with the mod (new installation).

Basically when you are in a party, unlock the frames, move the party frames ("party 1" to "party 4"; they move in a group) to, say, 4 inches below the top of the screen against the left side of the screen. Then lock the frames and the top of "party 1" automatically "jumps" down to 6 inches below the top of the screen. No matter where you place them, they almost always "jump" to lock lower than where you place them. This is without modifying the anchor points.

Will send a screenshot later.

Could you give a screenshot example of what you are talking about? It might be an issue with how you have the frames anchored, what is listed in /suf -> Units -> Party -> Frame in terms of anchor points.

Adjusting the party frame positioning (5-man) often seems to have little relation to where the frames finally end up. Its not so much being "pixel perfect" as noted in the mod description. But they often end up a full inch or more away from where you lock them.

SUF r20090804, SUF Grid r20090711, SUF Bars r20090729, WoW 3.2.0 live, USEnglish client/server. Do a brief frame movement after first install (as the "black" frames appear when you first install) and lock them. Get invited to a 5-man party. The single person other than myself in that party seems to be much lower along the left side of the screen that I originally set the "party 1" frame to be.

So go into SUF's options, uncheck "Lock Frames" and move the party frames higher (up towards my player frame). Then checkmark to lock. Unfortunately, the "party 1" frame at the top of the 5-frame "grid" does not stay where I set it before locking, it has moved back down to the middle of the screen.

So wait until the party fills up before trying to adjust it again. The party becomes full, I try to unlock and move. Almost every time I try to move the frames to an appropriate place higher up the left side of the screen, the party frames "slide" down to the middle of screen after locking. There are, though, very small pixel areas along the left side that seem to "hook" the frames so they don't slide back down when you lock them.

Thus I was able to--after too long fiddling with it--position them semi-adequately finally finding these tiny pixel areas where they don't slide down. But was unable to put the party frames exactly where I wanted them. So party frames, even through you can move them, do not behave in the current version as you might expect.

Note, if you get an error about modules/cast.lua:384

Either update to the latest version or type the below and do a UI reload.

/script ShadowUF.db.profile.castColors.interruptible = CopyTable(ShadowUF.db.profile.castColors.s.uninterruptible)
