SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Grab latest SUF from http://github.com/Shadowed/ShadowedUnitFrames/tree/master (Make sure you do a game restart) once you get a party pet or target bug out type /script ShadowUF:Debug() and give me the debug message it pops up.

XP bar bugging out is fixed, next push names will show up as Unknown until it gets data on them, it will also do a data GUID check on UNIT_NAME_UPDATE which should fix the rare case where it either always shows a blank name or it bugs out the classes.


Aggro overlay is some weird bug where the unit dies but the event isn't fired, i"m not too sure what causes it but there should already be code in to fix that. Do you notice it often or pretty rare?

You can check out the git tree fine, I'm adding the debug code in right now so wait an hour or two from this post.

When you're in a vehicle, and have the XP bar enabled along with player frame switching, the XP bar gets a bit... broken. Shows as "0/0 (nan%)" when you hover over it.

Also, another bug I've noticed is that sometimes the aggro overlay color isn't cleared when a party member dies, so they'll have the aggro color even after being resurrected.

Re. player names, I believe that to be the case, wouldn't mind testing a beta to make sure. Would checking out the current git tree cause hell to break loose for me?

I've already moved SUF to LibHealComm-4.0, so you won't likely see a push for another 2-3 weeks while it's being tested to make sure it's 99.99% stable. Next beta-push will have debug code to track down why the pets are not positioning correctly, in theory at least.

For those who want to run the beta push to debug the party pet positioning issue you're welcome to and I'll post when I push it/link to grab it. Just keep in mind that you'll also be testing LHC-4.0 (Which is supposed to be 100% compatible with LHC-3.0 so you won't lose data updating to it)


abzinthe: It depends on what you are trying to do specifically, unless you are doing something weird like moving people in your raid while inside arenas into different groups, they will all show up together in your party regardless.

If you have party disabled but you want it enabled in arenas then use the visibility in /suf -> Visibility -> Arenas -> Party -> Check "Enable Party Frames" until the check mark is gold (Enabled in arena instances)

tandroy: Thanks! I don't use (or need) a tool tip mod myself though, so the odds are you won't actually see anything from me regarding a tooltip replacement.

waha: As far as I can tell, this only happens once per a session when you first see someone, anytime after that it works fine? If that's the case then I think I see the issue and it (should) be fixed next push.

Heya,

Is it possible to show a 5-person raid as a party with this addon? Just glancing at the configuration, it looks as if I can hide the party while in a raid, but I would like the party frames to show while in arena.

Great addon, Shad. I switched from Pitbull to this and haven't looked back. Now you just need to create a tooltip addon (with the same tags support sUF has) so I can get rid of Cowtip and DogTags for good.

Visceroid: There isn't going to be a ToT because they're inaccurate due to ToT not being a real unit and they're inefficient/a pain to implement. There already is an option to disable vehicle switching for party under the same place as it is for players.

n3ther: Cast bar not hiding is fixed, are you sure the portrait is broken and you aren't just joining the group while they are outside of visible range.

Skylinee: I'll have to look into it, but do you have party frames anchored to the screen or to another frame like the player? If it's the former, then in /suf -> Party -> Frame anchoring it to the top left and then manually repositioning it should fix it just fine.

Zidomo: I'll add debug stuff to SUF in a bit to try and rack the bug down better.

waha: Peoples names being green as in, you have class coloring on and it's defaulting to green? And will look into the other issue.

Some thanks and a request

First off, thanks for this unit frames. Switched over from Pitbull due to several issues and after configuring for 1 hour, I'm more than happy with them

There are only 2 things which I'm missing and would like to see them added if it's not to much work.

First is a rather minor issue, but I would really like to have the "Target of Target" have a castbar. I'm playing a healer, and when you have the tank targeted it's impossible to see when the boss starts casting something. Bossmods help but still I'm used to look at ToT for that.

Second is the option "Vehicle switch" which is present for the Player module but not for the party module. I'd really like that added there too if possible.

Party Frames Issue

I don't know if you can help me with this issue that I've been having with the latest version of SUF but I'll try to give as much info as I can about the issue.

This problem pertains to my party frames only. The problem occurs anytime I join a party of any size. The portrait of my party members won't show; it is black instead. Also the cast bar will become enabled even though I have "Enable cast bar only while casting" for party members.

There is one way for me to fix this issue: modifying ANY setting under the Party Frame options will fix the portraits for my party member as well as remove the cast bar.
Reloadui will refresh the problem. And well I reload my ui quite often so this issue has really been aggravating me.

I included a link to my LUA file if it will be of any assistance.

Party frames positioning seems to be a bit screwed up when joining a party when in combat. They appear alot more to the left than what they're supposed to. Example: http://img197.yfrog.com/img197/9844/...2409182626.jpg (Party frames can be seen all the way to the left, they should be directly under the pet frame. reloadui fixes this.)

Unfortunately last night, ran into the identical party-pets-not-showing issue as I posted about before. But this time, it happened with a later/the latest revision (r20090813).

5-man party doing heroic ToC. Two hunters, one with a 79 gorilla, one with a 78. Have the party pet frame set to appear on the right side-bottom of each party member frame (the party target frame is right side-top). Did the instance, the pets appeared properly through the entire thing, including a hunter death, resummoning them, etc..

Next go from there to the heroic UP instance. Get everyone inside the portal with both hunter pets out...and the SUF party pet frames for them never appear. Ever. A couple pets died a couple times (due to being unable to see them to heal), they were resummoned, but no change.

The party target frames worked properly as did the party frames, just the party pet frames went on vacation after entering a new instance. Same as what happened in my previous post with an earlier SUF revision.

Looks like it needs more robust recognition of when party pets are active.
