A druid using TidyBar
Tidy Bar   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
TidyBar was designed to be a small, light-weight, and compact replacement for the default Action Bar.

Features:
  • Central Button Layout: Lower right, lower left, Shape-shift, Pet, and Possess action-bars stack above the main bar.
  • Hidden Bags and Menus: The Main Menu and Bag micro-buttons hide in the lower right corner of your screen, and become visible on mouse-over.
  • Hidden Vertical Action-bars: The action-bars along the right side of the screen also remain invisible until mouseover.

I've tested it using 1680x1050 and 1024x768 monitors, and it looks good on both.

Thanks to both 'Shamahan' and 'Neal' for their wonderful addons, which certainly inspired this small project.

Note: A well-known issue occurs when trying to enable or disable an actionbar while in combat; The bars do not reposition themselves until combat has finished. This is unlikely to be resolved in the near future, as it's a limitation/feature of Blizzard's UI system; Only Blizzard code (or a player hardware event, such as a click-and-drag) may change the position and visibility of a secure frame, while in combat.
  Change Log - Tidy Bar
---------------------
Ch-ch-ch-changes...
---------------------
Release 3.5: Main menu (character/spell/etc) buttons will properly stay visible when
the vehicle interface is shown. Fixed some issues with protected function calls.
New corner menu artwork! Hope you like it; I think it makes it look a wee bit
more polished.
---------------------
Release 3.4: Still trying to make sure the bar behaves well during vehicle switching. Added scaling.
---------------------
Release 3.3: Added event monitoring for exiting a vehicle, which will immediately update the bars.
---------------------
Release 3.2: Fixed issue where pet bar background was visible when bottom bars were hidden.
--------------------
Release 3.1: Changed TOC file to reflect the current interface version.
--------------------
Release 3: The side actionbars will now show up (regardless of mouseover) when the user drags an
actionbutton. The mouseover for the bag and mainmenu bars are now linked.
Code cleaned up; Should please my fellow developers. Removed some Runebar
positioning code (which was in there by accident).
--------------------
Release 2: Added mouseover behavior to the inner right-side action buttonbar. Added a
watcher frame under the Bags and Side Buttons to catch the mouseover when the
cursor is between the buttons. Previously, when you moved your cursor into
the narrow gap between the button sets, the buttons would disappear. Also,
removed dependency on Wowace! Slowly but surely, I'm cleaning it up.. ;-)

Re: Minor Issue

Heya Rec,

Thanks so much for the compliments :-) The fix is up; I'd never run into that issue, since I'd never turned off both bottom bars on my hunter. I had coded it to hide the backgrounds for all other bonus action bars except the pet bar.

PS - I love your macro names! lol

I'd really like just to have that graphic hidden rather than centering the pet action bar, but I can't figure out how to do either. Thanks for your help and great mod!

Re: Minion

Nice! :-) Well, I can't take credit for anything. I tried to fix it myself, to no avail. I think the issue was related to some verification that needed to be performed by the admins.

Minion

Your addon is listed as "Addon Not Available" in Minion. You may want to look into that. Again, great mod!

Release 3

I must confess, I was wrong! I was able to clean and shrink quite a bit of the code. Some of it wasn't pretty. ;-)

Anyway, nothing major in this new release; I accomplished all of my goals. As always, let me know if something breaks.

Plans

Just a quick note; I'm planning on making one more feature release, and then just maintaining/fixing bugs.

Plans for Release 3
* Display the side actionbars during drag-and-drop operations
* Linking the showing of the bag and main menu bars
* Tentative support for a 'single bag' button, configurable by the user by changing a variable at the beginning of the lua file.
* Tidying up the code (though, from my limited development experience, I feel that it's pretty simple and easy to understand)

I was unable to reproduce any issue with the vehicle bars during testing in Wintergrasp and the Argent Tournament, in and out of combat. Release 3 will check for InCombatLockdown() on the button bars, which may prevent the issue from occurring.

Future feature additions are not out-of-the-question, but I feel that the goals have been reached. (It's a REALLY simple addon, y'know?)

Re: Release 2

There's alot of your code that could be "shrunk" down, and cleaned up, so you should look into that, it'll make it easier to update for yourself etc.
I'll gladly post what i can when I can to help, not much of a coder any more though.

Glad you edited it fast.
I had a bug, when i got into a vehicle in and out fast, the bars moved down, so everything was off screen.
Haven't been able to replicate again, it was the only mod working, Guessing it has something to do with one of your functions like TidyBar:PossessBars.
Bit tired atm to be looking into it ha xD
Good luck with this xD

~edit~
One bag buttons option should be added.
I just did a quick hack to it on mine.

If OneBagVariable then dontbotherdoing mouseover etc for
CharacterBag0Slot
CharacterBag1Slot
~
and :Hide();

local bagScales = 0.6;
Also added Scaling for the bag mod (seens as its right in the corner with micromenu and isn't ALWAYS needed (as i use onebag3).

CharacterBag0Slot:SetScale(bagScales);
Only a quick h@x but it worked none the less.
Don't know whether you'd want to add these. but its what I was using xD

Release 2

Thanks so much, Auren! I copied your code into my files, but I couldn't resist tinkering a wee bit; Hope you approve! ;-)

Release 2 is up, which 'fixes' the inner bar behavior. Only slightly less cool; this new version is 1/9th of the size as the previous version, after removing the reliance on Wowace.

Inner Bar Behavior

Thanks so much for the kind words! :-) I wasn't quite sure if anyone would find it useful.

The behavior of the inner right-bar was actually intentional, since I used it mainly for temporary quest items (I'd put the quest item adjacent to the quest in the tracker). It should be easy to include the inner bar in the mouse-over mechanic, when I get a few minutes.

Also, I'm not familiar with 'majbar', but I'll check it out. Personally, I prefer the bars in the current configuration, and I didn't plan on developing a configuration tool.

Thanks again! Let me know if anything else breaks..

;-)

Excellent

Nice job! I'm having the same issue with the outermost right bar not fading, but I'm not using that bar for now. Solid work!

I LOVE THIS ADDON lol but seriously any way you could keep all the hidden and hover options and steal a page from majbar? and incorperate say like the side bar(s) and add them to the main bar and let the two bars stack like they do now?
