Leatrix Latency Fix  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.03
by: Leatrix [More]

Introduction

Leatrix Latency Fix will reduce your online gaming latency significantly by increasing the frequency of TCP acknowledgements sent to the game server. For the technically minded, this is a program which will modify TCPAckFrequency.

You will see reduced latency in many online games including World of Warcraft, WildStar, Heroes of the Storm, Elder Scrolls Online, Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rift and more.

Note that Leatrix Latency Fix performs a different modification to the 'Optimise Network for Speed' setting in World of Warcraft. They are not the same thing and can be used together (more information on this in the FAQ).

System Requirements

  • Windows 7, 8, 10, Vista (SP1+) or XP (SP3).
  • Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows are supported.
Macintosh users should read the guide here.

Installation Instructions

You can watch a short installation video here.

Simply download the zip file, extract it and then run Leatrix_Latency_Fix_3.x.exe. When the program launches, click the Install button. You will see the status change from 'Not Installed' to 'Installed'. You need to restart your computer (or disable/enable your network card) for the changes to take effect. After that, you can login to your online games with reduced latency.

Your Windows account needs to have Administrator rights to run Leatrix Latency Fix. If you are using Windows Vista or higher and your account doesn't have Administrator rights, you will be prompted for the credentials of an account that does have them.

To uninstall Leatrix Latency Fix, click the remove button and restart your computer.

For reference, the status line in the program will show 3 possible tags. 'Installed' indicates that all network interfaces have been modified for reduced latency. 'Not Installed' indicates that no network interfaces are modified for reduced latency. 'Partially Installed' indicates that some network interfaces have been modified for reduced latency (you will see this status tag if you add a new network card or USB modem after the installation of Leatrix Latency Fix).

More Information

There is a FAQ covering pretty much everything here and there is a short installation video tutorial here.

On Vista I managed to install this using an elevated command prompt (right click and "Run as Administrator"). That's somewhat easier than disabling and enabling UAC.

edit (My experience):

Vista x64 SP2
Before: 100-200ms typical
Now: about 30ms

My God thats some excellent work Leatrix! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 RC
Latency before: 280 - 330
Latency now: 44 - 87

Note on the installation. Did as front234 did and used the Windows Script Host to run the script.

Right-click the Command Prompt under Accessories in All Programs.
-or-
Search programs for cmd.exe and right-click.

Choose Run as Administrator.

Go to the folder with the vbscript.

Type wscript.exe "Optimise TCP for reduced latency and faster gameplay.vbs" and press Enter.

Viola! Dancing bananas

So far so good! Ill perhaps post more findings later.

Currently using, Vista32 SP1. I went from 170ms to 80ms.

One fast question without doing a lot of research on my part

all this does is allow more connections? Would be interested to know a little of the registry changes it makes.

Great fix though! Worked great! Ty

Just to say thanks for this. I knew how to do this manually before but forgot since (couple of OS reinstalls, change of motherboards etc...) - Latency was typically around 300ms to 400ms before I used this. Now my latency hovers between 30ms and 65ms !
Fantastic stuff as all I need to do now is run your script to make the change !!!

EDIT: Oh and am currently running/using Windows XP SP3 32bit - playing from Europe on EU servers.

I was kinda skeptical.
But..
Before: ~170
After: ~55
... speaks for it self.

The slight delay after pushing a action button is completely gone.
Happy Priest is happy... and casting instants instant finally!

(Vista 64 btw)

The hotfix is included in Windows Vista SP1, which is why SP1 is required for the latency fix to work.

Thanks for this! Noticed quite the difference on both my computer, and my wife's. Also noticed smaller pings in Team Fortress 2.
Anyway, old ping: typically 200-250, with it going up to 500 some times
New ping: 55-70, and much more consistent speeds
OS: Vista 32 SP1

Yeah a very good fix. I forgot about this setting in the registry for ages! Reduced my latency from 160-300 to no more than 30-45 now.
