LFM Sniffer
Version: 0.2
by: Cladhaire [More]
This is a simple addon that exposes some information provided by the World of Warcraft "Looking for More" API. Now you can get information about the players in the LFM queue without needing to be near them in order to inspect. There is even an "average gear rating" for each person.

There is a single slash command for LFM_Sniffer that will enable/disable the addon:

Code:
/lfmsniffer
In addition to the normal mouseover tooltip, you can shift-click an entry in the LFM listing in order to spawn a semi-permanent tooltip that allows you to compare different players.

Please let me know if you have any issues! Thanks to Mikma for sorting out which stats are "useful" for a given class and for some great ideas!
LFM_Sniffer-0.2
- Added a base localization file, so users can contribute translations
- Removed +damage and expertise from Hunters

How exactly is the average gear rating calculated?

Awesome. This will be great for checking out who is inviting me and when I invite people.

It'd be nice if the Average Gear Rating corresponded to something like the Average Item Level of the person's gear, atm its rather meaningless until I get used to the ratings.

Its definitely not average item level and it's unclear how it's actually calculated. Luckily you can judge yourself and play around to see how the number is calculated and what effects it. The number is just provided by the API and definitely appears to be accurate for "overall gear" for a player.

Hope that helps!

Also for example for Hunters it's listing attack power instead of ranged attack power. Expertise has no use for hunters and it should always be 0. I'm not quite sure what +Damage does, but since it shows as 0 on my hunter then I guess it doesn't have a lot use either for hunters. It would be nice to see mana and hit rating.

It would also be much more helpful if crit rating would have percentage in brackets. Same with haste.

Other then that, it's a very nice idea.

EDIT:

Boss kills to take value from normal version dungeon instead of heroic even if the person is LFG for heroic version.

+Damage should be showing your +spell damage. As for AP versus Ranged AP.. ranged AP is not available via the API, so there's nothing that can be done about it.

Doesn't that depend highly on the class and talents? I'd rather not provide information that I can't actually can't say is actually 100% true. If you really think its important, we can look into it.. but again I'd rather provide real values rather than calculated guesses.

Well since you're showing different tooltips for each class, I thought it would be nice to point it out. Hunters don't use spell power neither expertise.

You're partly right. You can't calculate full crit chance without knowing talent point distribution. But critical rating isn't affected by any talents. ~45.91 crit rating is 1% extra crit, no matter what class or talents.

I was thinking about something more like what you see when you hover over Crit Chance in character screen. It's not that important and probably more hassle to implement then it's worth it.

But that's only for level 80 characters, the amount of rating required for 1% depends on the level of the character. This is much less "fun" to calculate, although not impossible. My question is, how much does it really matter? This gives you a good general overview of pub players.. but you'll still need to check achievements, skill and everything else.

That being said if someone wants to write a Lua function for each stat that will take in a rating and spit out a percentage, I'll gladly add it!

I'm not sure how +Damage ended up in the hunter list, sorry bout that.
And the expertise, I don't know anything about hunters and thought it might be important

There might be other "useless" data / missing data in other classes too. If you find one, you can always report them in cladhaire's author portal.

You can always just compare your own stats (ie. Crit rating) against other persons. You know how much you have, is the amount good or bad, and then you will know is his stat good or bad, too.

After all, theres alot of people that might be happy with the default LFM, this is just a extra info for people that need good players from the sea of randoms.

I agree providing real values rather than calculated guesses.

As for the expertise on hunters issue and other useless stats for classes I'd rather the tooltip provide me with the information from the API and allow me to decide what is useless.

The reason we're using this addon (I assume anyway) is to better discern if we want a player in our group or want to join another player's group.

If they have useless stats (eg. a hunter with expertise) then the addon is doing it's job in helping us to better make that decision.

I'm not saying we should display a priest's strength and agility, but rather allow the player to decide what is useless from the information rather than censoring it from them.

This is really cool, but "11/60/0" doesn't help me too much, as I don't know WHAT the specs are. "Holy (11/60/0)" would be much more useful...

*edit* also what's the point of enable/disable settings? Just disable the addon and reload if you don't want it running!

Oh, I guess I assumed everyone knows the order of the different specs. I'll add that info into the next version, but it won't tell you _what_ their spec is, just which tree is which.

Also, it's (again) there as supplementary information.. since the tooltip already shows which roles they are willing to take in your party.

*edit* also what's the point of enable/disable settings? Just disable the addon and reload if you don't want it running!
In case you want to stop the tooltip from showing up, but still want to have the shift-click perm tooltip.

First, thanks for making this addon Cladhaire.
I think this addon may be one of the best/major addon like Omen/damage meters.

Btw, can these tooltips be pulled out from /who command (or list)?
I see it from LFM window but can't check things from /who.
This will help searching specific person from like lfg channel or trade channel with /who'ing.
If it's possible. Could you please try to add this function?

Thanks in advance =)
