Im not sure if these have been slated to be included in the new version, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

1. Id like to disable all threat for PVP targets. Having your nameplates light up bright white in PVP makes it really, really hard to see.

2. By default, the name text font is colored white when I just look at a mob/ player. It then turns red when I attack them. In combination with the above issue, red text on a red background with a big glowing white border is really quite difficult to read.

Can you add an option to disable the name text color changing or is this done within TP itself and not the skin?

Thanks a ton.
@ #2 In the future build (v2.0) you will be able to alter the font / color / size / placement / align / etc... so look forward to that.

@ #1

You can remove the threat glow or change its color.

Here's how:
-- This will remove the threat glow for all non-elite nameplates (i.e. PvP players)

1. Open up your addon's folder to TidyPlates_CleanPlates.
2. Locate normal.lua and open it with notepad.
3. On line #16, look for:
Code:
config.threatborder = {
	texture =					texture.."CP_Threat",
	elitetexture =					texture.."CP_Threat",
	width = 256,
	height = 64,
	x = 0,
	y = 5,
	anchor = "CENTER",
}
4. Change it to:
Code:
config.threatborder = {
	texture =					texture.."Empty",
	elitetexture =					texture.."CP_Threat",
	width = 256,
	height = 64,
	x = 0,
	y = 5,
	anchor = "CENTER",
}
Or:
-- This will change the low threat glow for all nameplates to none.

1. Open up your addon's folder to TidyPlates_CleanPlates.
2. Locate normal.lua and open it with notepad.
3. On line #163 (Towards the end of the document) look for:
Code:
config.threatcolor = {
	LOW = { r = 1, g = 1, b = 1, a = 1 },
	MEDIUM = { r = 1, g = 1, b = 0, a = 1 },
	HIGH = { r = 1, g = 0, b = 0, a = 1 },
}
4. Change it to:
Code:
config.threatcolor = {
	LOW = { r = 0, g = 0, b = 0, a = 0 },
	MEDIUM = { r = 1, g = 1, b = 0, a = 1 },
	HIGH = { r = 1, g = 0, b = 0, a = 1 },
}
------------------

Sorry for the inconvenience of having to alter the lua, but it is the only way possible(Currently).

Hope this helps and please let me know if you need additional help.

The only information I can display, is what is actually available from the nameplates. Stuff like mob classification, or more specific details, I can't get from just the information the unit nameplate provides. I could take all the npc's in like dalaran and give them icons or something for repairs, food, or profession or something lol.. but uh the only way I would be able to do that is to match the npc names. There's no easy way of doing it.

Eventually, I may be able to add more to your targets nameplate just because I can bring up more info from PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGE etc, etc.

Danltiger is working on a way to give the target's nameplate a sense of identity from the rest of the nameplates.

@ TreeTops:

When I get a chance to work on my own computer with Lua and testing, I'm going to change all the text into something you can customize a little bit. I may add some shared media functionality.

Suggestion

Ok I love your theme plain and simple, and even if you ignore me I will continue to use it.

Anyway I personally think the only thing this theme is lacking, (and it REALLY needs this). Is a toggle able extra text for npc classification. What I mean is additional text either above or preferably below the name to identify what the npc is, like Blacksmith, Griffin master, reagents, etc etc. You know like in the default UI. In a mob of nameplates in a city environment I find that little bit of text invaluable, so much so its actually tempting to use something else, even though I love just about everything else in this theme.

thank you

Just drop a font youd like to use into the fonts folder and rename it to Accidental Presidency.ttf

Yes it will, you shouldnt have to worry about Tidy Plates updates. Theyre generally bugfixes.

It could be some layering issues with 3.3. Talk to Danltiger about it.

No, I'm most defenetly clicking the nameplate. The Healthbar to be exact.
Was about to post a screenshot of exact what I was trying to say but noticed something else.

Note: this might just be the version of Tidy-Clean plates.

Any target you have selected will have their nameplate be unclickable, like the actual hitbox is nil.
This explains my "deselection" when re-clicking on my target's nameplate.

Going to try this with latest Tidy-Clean.

*EDIT*
Same stuff. Took screenies this time.

In both screens, you can see the "garbage" I've mentioned (with comparison to proper plates on other npcs) on Anchorite Ahuurn's nameplate. And turning them on and off _CAN_ fix it but usually breaks another one.

You can't see my mouse position here, but it's in the same location as the next picture--bottom right of my tooltips (set to follow mouse).
As you can see, the npc is targeted, but when I click you get...

...This. Here you can see where the mouse is thanks to the tooltip, which is proving that the nameplate hitbox dissappears for whatever target you have.

My conclusion is that this is a TidyPlates design or bug, so I'll be asking in the comments there.

@clicking nameplates:

You may be clicking on the nameplate text which isnt part of their hitbox. You might just be deselecting them.

I understand about the nameplates, I was just referencing that because Aloft also had funky nameplate redrawing during a few revisions. It was just a reference, nothing more, because of how the "misplaced" bars, stuck highlight, or other garbledness happened.
Said garbage is reproducible just by toggling nameplates on and off a few times (healthbar loses background & border, and a "teal" highlight-esque bar appears underneath.

@frame hitbox, ty. I was unsure if those were it or not. Haven't had time to fiddle around yet.

@clicking nameplate:
I'm not talking about the alpha transparency and such. with default nameplates, now mater how many times i click the same nameplate it never removes itself as my target. Using Tidy/clean plates, clicking the same nameplate selects AND deselects the target, alternating, each click. rather annoying.
ie - each nameplate is toggle target button, whereas vanilla plates are always targte <THIS> when clicked.
And no, i'm not talking about sticky targeting in the options.

The most major problem with nameplates, is it's impossible to associate them to a UnitID (default nameplates that is). The only way to give a return value for if something is a critter is a function built into the wow API called GetCreatureType(unitid) and since you can't associate a nameplate with a critter there's no way for it to give the nameplate an the status of "critter"(which no longer matters since "critter" nameplates are no longer in the game, which is not always the case).

The way Aloft does/did it was it creates the nameplate from a momentary targeting/mouseovring of mobs and getting a mouseoverid/unitid and creating the nameplate from that. As its moused over a LOT of data is created for all the various functions that Aloft has: threat, class, creature type, casting info, etc, etc. Which obviously brings the cpu / memory consumption up and plenty of garbage data.

theres quite a bit of wasted space inbetween them
Inside each of my template lua's (normal, special, totem, pet, and empty) there is a :

config.frame = {
x = #,
y = #,
},

This effectively changes the "hitbox" of the nameplate boxes. My empty.lua has a hit box of 2 pixels by 2 pixels. Not only is it only 4 pixels in size it's also scaled to 30% of its original size, so it's quite small.

There's always an outside bubble or "padding" of all nameplates, even my empty.lua. The only way to completely remove this padding and invisible nameplates is to simply not have the nameplate there. The only way this is done (now) is to turn the nameplates off via the in-game options (I'm still working on a way to implement them into Clean Plates). The only options from the in-game options are players, pets, and totems, so specific toggles aren't available for specific pets.

There is no way to disable this changing alpha level of targets to non-targets.

Mmmm well, I could make it so your target nameplate could be sized or colored/textured differently eventually. Danltiger is working on a system for displaying combo points on the nameplates of your target only, which the only way to associate the nameplate of your target is to look for the only nameplate who's alpha is at 100% (all the other nameplates dimm to less than 95% alpha). However there is a problem with mobs of the same name, so the delay is there until a work around is implemented.

Feel free to show me a screenshot or two about what the differences are.

I recall Aloft having that same problem now that I think about it, happened around the time the option to hide critters and such was first implimented and between the "invisible but still there" nameplate hiding (i.e. - current method of hiding plates).

When I get some time I might try and find the post I'm thinking exists that describes what and why this happenes. Could just be me though. /shrug.

And for not having a computer working, you're pretty active on here.

I do have two more questions. (sorry)
As you know, when your screen is filled with plates, theres quite a bit of wasted space inbetween them. I assume this is the "frame" area, so would is be possible to shrink this frame size yet retain the same "actual" size to remove this padding/empty space?
I'm horrible with words but I could easily explain this with a picture. Pretty sure someone else has asked this as well.

Second, when clicking on a nameplate you select it. When clicking again on the same nameplate, you deselect it. Possible to disable this? I get confused as to which target I have selected sometimes, and at other times I think I have one targeted when I don't. It could just be me not adjusted to a different look compared to my Aloft frames and not having a very noticable highlighted color.

Cheers for reading my wall-o-text, good sir!
