* QUATRE will be available in Beta2
* GREY will be available in Beta3

* Numerous Bug Fixes & Improvements

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause.

and maintained, rather than withering.

---------------------------
6.18.Beta1
---------------------------
Nameplate-pocalypse!!!!!!!

99% of the previous nameplate system has been replaced by Blizzard for Legion.

Rebuilding has been slow, since I'm (apparently) a grown-up, now. ;-)

BUT, progress is indeed being made!

The internal widgets are disabled, which means the Aura timers are not working. I'm rewriting the entire bloody system because we now have a good way to capture that data without all the trickery that was previously required. (Blizzard does love us!)

Again, progress is being made!

Many things are broken, so I expect that many of you might want to check back with Tidy Plates in a week or so.

Happy questing!

---------------------------
6.16.Beta: Quick Notes
---------------------------
This is a MAJOR update to Tidy Plates, and many things have changed.

Here are some of the bigger changes:

* The Hub has been revamped and some rearranging has been done.
* Quick Fix - Quick Setup:
1. Use '/tp' to reselect your Theme (and Profile)
2. Use '/hub' to check your settings...

* Some settings have been pruned; If there was something important that got
removed, let me know...

* Numerous Bug Fixes & Improvements
* Numerous Bug "Additions"? (Quite possible!)

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause...

Think of this: Changes mean that this addon is being actively developed and
maintained, rather than withering, as many addons do...

--------------------------------------
6.16.Beta8
--------------------------------------
* Hub: Threat: Highlight Mobs Tanked by Other Tanks: It was a mess. Rewrote and tested with hunter pet, and it's working well in that condition.
- To do: Reimplement Combat Log melee swing detection, and test in 5-man and Raids

--------------------------------------
6.16.Beta7
--------------------------------------
* I haven't been keeping track of changes. Warlords- yay!

Things still needing testing...
* Healer Tracking
* Tank Target-Of-Mob Tracking

Things still needing testing...
* Healer Tracking

6.16.Beta2:
--------------------------------------
* Widgets/UnitCache: Fix for mouseover bug
* Class Coloring: Fixed IsInInstance() issue.. maybe?
* Hub: Removed "Default" choice from the Friendly and Enemy Coloring Modes (Yeah, this will make current settings funk-up... but it cleans out that redundant choice)

--------------------------------------
6.16.Beta1: Full-ish List of Changes:
--------------------------------------

Core:
* Core/Panel: !! The Bundled themes no longer create a "Damage" and "Tank" copy !!
* Core/Panel: Introduced a new menu set, called Profiles, which will load the appropriate "Damage", "Tank", or "Healer" Hub profile.
* Core/Panel: When the selected theme is invalid, it'll fall-back to the first available theme.
* Core/Panel: Added a Slash Command alias, "/tp" in addition to "/tidyplates"

Bundled Themes:
* Themes: Neon & Quatre now have CastProtected art. About time!
* Neon: New Elite Icon, which looks more like I'd originally intended. (Replaces the old Star)
* Removed "Blizzard Theme"... Sorry guys... There are core things that I want to get done, and fixing/maintaining
that component is not a priority. It will probably return, but don't hold your breath.

Widgets:
* Widgets/UnitCache: Replaced " (*)" with FOREIGN_SERVER_LABEL, which will fix unit-caching on certain server types.
* Widgets/UnitCache: Now using a Scanning Tooltip, which should prevent conflicts with TipTac and other Tooltip mods
* Widgets/Aura: Combat Log Event Handler now skips units which are group members, relying on the general
Unit event handler for their updates.

Hub/General:
* Hub: Colorized 'Friendly' and 'Enemy' description titles, to improve readability.
* Separated Hub functions.lua into discrete category files
* Tweaked some names/descriptions
* Removed Threat Wheel widget from Hub
* Hub: Added a button to the Advanced category; "Clear Cache", which purges the stored Class/Description/Guild data
* Hub/Advanced: "Health Bar Width" (%) Allows you to tweak the relative width of the theme's Health Bar (Experimental)

Hub/Colors:
* Hub/Reaction: New Color, "Tapped Unit"
* Hub/Color Function: Tapped Color will be applied, taking priority over Threat/Etc. functions

Hub/Scale:
* Hub: Scale: Added, Bring Target units to Spotlight Scale, Bring Mouseovers to Spotlight Scale

Hub/Health Bar View:
* Removed several of the Status Text choices; These will reappear in a more advanced "Custom Text" category (Working on it...)
* NOTE: The CUSTOM/ADVANCED Status Text function hasn't been written, yet; Thus, it doesn't do anything at the moment...

Hub/Opacity:
* Hub: Opacity: Enemy & Friendly units now have their own independent Spotlight Modes
* Hub: Opacity: Spotlight Modes; Removal of some redundant and underused modes.
* Hub: Opacity: New Checkbox, "Spotlight Raid Marked"
* Hub: Opacity: Modified Checkbox, "Bring Mouseovers to Target Opacity" to "Spotlight Mouseover"
* Hub: Opacity: Modified Checkbox, "Bring Casting Units to Target Opacity" to "Spotlight Casting Units"

Hub/Aura Widget:
* Hub: Buffs & Debuffs: Replaced "Aura Widget Mode" Dropdown with Checkboxes: "Include My Buffs", and "Include My Debuffs".
* Hub: Buffs & Debuffs: The widget will now use a Smart Mode, where it first evaluates the checkboxes, then evaluates the Aura List.
* Hub: Buffs & Debuffs: Added the "Not" prefix to the aura list; This new mode allows you to blacklist auras from "Show My Debuffs" etc.

Framework:
* Hub: Quick Frame Templates now return the created frame twice (ie. assign two references with a single call, which helps with the Quick Frame setup)
* Fixed some Odd Mouseover Behavior
* Rearranged and removed some old Hub stuff. Cleaning out functions, removing ancient code, removed items of questionable utility
Optional Files (0)

Before I start sending you lists and stuff (will do, if needed):

You know that your screenshot is from a stationary, friendly unit? What happened when you started combat and had a target and probably attacking you? My screenshot is from questing, single target attacking me [or more].

Stationary and out of combat everything looks okay for me too!

It's working fine for me. Let's take a look at your addon list. If you prefer, you can send it via PM, or email '[email protected]'

Text: It's more "soft-coded"... you can change it pretty easily via editing the LUA. The table that stores theme info is a global variable, so it's also possible to alter the data from another addon...

Ah, ok; you didn't mention earlier that you needed to be in-combat.

I've since gotten a few more minutes on the PTR, and found that it was an error in the Neon warning glow TGA artwork file (very odd). I blame The Gimp. Quatre and Grey worked just fine.

6.1.8 should fix those issues, since I spent a few more mins testing. Unless Blizz sneaks in behind me and breaks it, of course.

Yeppe, Its working, awesome addon! Insane compact (yet I think I could even shrink the bar further via mucking around with the lua if I'm able to since I'm not too good with such things).

Much appreciated for your follow up on my requests in such a short time! I'll try to give more feedback if I can about PTR (playing PTR only atm).

Cheers!

Trying to mod...

Question about modding interface...

So I'm trying to figure out how to customize, based your tutorial about Persistent Theme Customization. But I'm a noob [as you could guess, hehe].

-created the folder, files.
-tried to figure out the theme related info that should go to toc, like:

local ThemeName = "Neon/|cFFFF4400Damage"
local TankThemeName = "Neon/|cFF3782D1Tank"

-then I wanted to change the text [target name] location a bit and I got confused. Guess I have to change DefaultStyle.name but do I have to copy the whole "object" info and change what I want or its enough to copy only the change?

Code:
DefaultStyle.name = {
	y = NameTextVerticalAdjustment-15,
}
Or?

Code:
DefaultStyle.name = {
	typeface = font,
	size = fontsize,
	width = 200,
	height = 11,
	x = 0,
	y = NameTextVerticalAdjustment,
	align = "CENTER",
	anchor = "CENTER",
	vertical = "CENTER",
	shadow = true,
}
Also I'm really not sure what to change, it seems some data is dynamic, like the NameTextVerticalAdjustment or something.

So I read your help and all about the custom settings but ... to me its not too clear sorry. :S

Re: Trying to mod...

You're close...

The TOC file should contain only...

Code:
        ## Interface: 40000
        ## Title: Tidy Plates: Customizations
        ## Dependencies: TidyPlates_Quatre
        Custom.lua
"Custom.lua" is the file that should carry your alterations.

Here's an example, based on changing parts of the 'name' element.

Code:
local ThemeName = "Neon/|cFFFF4400Damage"
local Theme = TidyPlatesThemeList[ThemeName]
local Style = Theme["Default"]
Style.name.y = 0
The first three lines are basically just grabbing a reference to the existing data table. Because the references are defined as 'local', we can use simple names like, 'Theme'.

Neon uses the 'multi-style' feature of Tidy Plates, which is like allowing multiple themes within the same file. A special function controls which one gets shown. As a consequence, there's that extra line of code, which grabs that 'Style' table. With single-style themes (Grey and Quatre), you don't need to do the 'Style' thing, you can edit the 'Theme' itself.

If you want to change both themes at the same time, you could do something like this:

Code:
local ThemeName = "Neon/|cFFFF4400Damage"
local Theme = TidyPlatesThemeList[ThemeName]
local Style = Theme["Default"]
Style.name.y = 0

ThemeName = "Neon/|cFF3782D1Tank"
Theme = TidyPlatesThemeList[ThemeName]
Style = Theme["Default"]
Style.name.y = 0
Why this works: We've defined local variables, which we fill with references to the actual theme tables. After making the changes to the 'Damage' theme, we can reuse those variables to get the next reference for the 'Tank' theme.

You could also overwrite all properties of an element by doing this:

Code:
local font = "Interface\\Addons\\CustomFonts\\Font.ttf"
local ThemeName = "Neon/|cFFFF4400Damage"
local Theme = TidyPlatesThemeList[ThemeName]
local Style = Theme["Default"]
Style.name = {
	typeface = font,
	size = 12,
	width = 200,
	height = 11,
	x = 0,
	y = 1,
	align = "CENTER",
	anchor = "CENTER",
	vertical = "CENTER",
	shadow = true,
}
The "Style.name = {}" means that we're creating a new array of data for 'name', and replacing the old table. You can see how I've defined the 'font' variable, which I've used within the 'typeface' definition.

Re: Re: Trying to mod...

Hi,

Sorry for the late response. Many thanks for your explanatory. I've decided not to try and change the stuff because I see that I don't exactly know all the layout location of the stuff on the frame. I see now that moving down the name will arise more issues (just recently enabled health text and thats on the bar too). So guess later on you will release some kind of theme editor or something and then we can "effuse" the web with awesome themes.

This nameplate addon is insanely well made! I cannot thank you enough for your work! (Playing 6+years and counting, so I saw a couple. )

Re: neon default font

1. I haven't seen this disappearing plate thing happen... what conditions cause it?

2. It would be, if I remembered to add it to the customization function.

I've gotten around to a feature which, well, a ton of people have asked for...

Text plates. They're rolled into the Hub panels, so take a look (/hubtank or /hubdamage). Neon, Grey and Quatre have been updated, accordingly.

Oh yeah, there's a few additional modules in this package:

TidyPlatesIcon
TidyPlatesTarget

  1. The Icon thingy is basically just a minimap/ldb icon
  2. The Target thingy is a concept piece, which intends to display a Tidy Plates derived frame for your target. Right now, it gets shown when your target plate disappears. It works with Grey, Neon and Quatre... I think. It's still in dev, but I thought that some of you would find it neat...

Removing either of those modules involves either disabling the module addon, or deleting the folder.

Latest Beta Build

Since the latest beta build my nameplates appaer in the toop center position of the screen. Doesn't matter if I target an enemy or a friendly player.

I tried to change that through the options but couldn't find settings for this. Can you please tell me, how I can get the plates to be shown again as they were in the last build so that they appear over the targets head?

Greetings

Re: Latest Beta Build

As mentioned in the comment just below (and in the addon description), there's a module included with this package called, TidyPlatesTarget.

The 'nameplate' that you see up near the top of your screen isn't really a nameplate at all; It's just a target frame (which only appears when your target nameplate isn't on screen) that uses your theme graphics.

To disable it, either turn off "TidyPlatesTarget" in the character selection screen addon menu, or remove the folder.

Not able to see any nameplates? Different issue entirely. Try pressing 'Ctrl-V'.

There is a phrase in german language which says translated that "who is able to read has an enormous advantage" ^^

This fits to me very good in this moment ^^

Thank for your answer and keep up the good work!! I love this addon!!!

Would it be possible to have the Text Plates observe your Guild Name display preferences? I don't have guild names displayed over characters' heads, but if I enable Text Plates, the guild names start showing up.

Thanks!

raid marks

Here's a theoretical question and I'm not requesting it as a feature but just asking for an opinion since you two know ins and out of nameplate coding, and I can't think of anyone better to ask:

Is it possible to attach marks like raid-marks to the nameplates? (but they wouldn't be raid marks). I know there's stuff like HHTD. But say you want to mark your friends, your guildies, or a few specific friendlies (or enemies) and so on. Is this doable or is there's something in blizz code preventing this?
