Tidy Plates: Threat Plates - Version 8.3

About:
Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (TPTP for short) is a theme for use with Tidy Plates with patch 5.0.4 or later WoW client. It offers a high amount of customization and tweaks to how your nameplates react and look. It also offers some unique features that are not available with any other nameplate addon. I've spent a considerable amount of time improving this addon and any comments or concerns about this addon are appreciated. I'm always looking for ways to improve this addon.
Features:
  • SharedMedia support and many, many, options for name, health, level, and spell text. As well as all of the standard nameplate features such as castbar and icon, elite icons / textures, skull icons / textures, raid marks, and healthbar coloring/alpha/scale.
  • Ace3 profiling.
  • Low memory footprint.
  • Threat system management.
  • Automatic talent detection and role assigning for an easy out of the box setup.
  • Customizable widgets.
  • Customizable totem nameplates.
  • Customizable nameplates for extra customization for specifically named units.
Commands:
  • /tptp - Displays options.
  • /tptptoggle - Toggle Role from one to the other.
  • /tptpdps - Toggles DPS/Healing threat plates.
  • /tptptank - Toggles Tank threat plates.
  • /tptpol - Toggles nameplate overlapping.
  • /tptpverbose - Toggles addon feedback text.
Additional Information:
A considerable amount of information about options and its internal priorities are not gone into details. Most options that are enable or disable based will toggle off options that are no longer changeable once enabled or disabled. If you have any questions about options and what they do, feel free to leave a comment or PM me here for more information.

I'm in the process of moving currently. My living situation isn't stellar currently and my work in progress is limited.

I've got an alpha that'll be up on curse within the week.

Ever since 5.2, the custom nameplates have been buggy as hell. If I have a custom nameplate for anything and I mark it with a raid marker (skull, cross, moon, anything) its HP color will switch to red regardless of threat level. I don't have marked HP coloring enabled and this is driving me insane. Even the threat glow stops working.

Help?

Referring to using....

Lua Code:
  1. TidyPlatesWidgets:DisableAuraWatcher()
  2. TidyPlatesUtility:DisableUnitCache()

... when those utilities aren't needed. They can eat up a considerable amount of CPU. I'm not sure that it's a big hit to FPS, though; I've done tests on and off, and it matters MUCH less than the number of frames that we attach to the root Blizz nameplate.
every little bit helps. especially on fights when there are just a ton of units or combat log is spamming like mad (think 25 man raids with 30 adds up all receiving aoe from 25 people, all while aoe damage is going out constantly, etc). (pretty much any CLEU mod is high on a fight like this, but widgets was highest by a long shot)
the cpu usage of widgets was the HIGHEST of all mods i cpu profiled on more than one fight. rivaling even shadowed unit frames, just for a widget module. CLEU and UNIT_AURA spam are no joke these days, especially since the buff blizzard did to CLEU that nearly tripples it's data size and (parse cpu usage in process). the cpu usage per task is minimal but it's the number of events queued as tasks that add up. Point being, if you aren't using a function that needs the CLEU or UNIT_AURA, should definitely not be parsing them.

Maybe you can do some cpu profiling in 3rd wing of LFR tonight when 25 people are aoeing down 25 adds on animus I'm not sure the spam will be nearly as much as say heroic tortos 25 man, but it'll be something to benchmark.

as for " number of frames that we attach to the root Blizz nameplate.". good luck with that. :\

I was thinking the reason the amani'shi beast shaman name plate doesn't show is because he activates after amani warbear dies. He's riding on his back, so the code may not detect the name plate correctly or something. I've seen this happen rarely in other fights, and it's always a certain mob each time and not a random different one. Where instead of coloring the name plate it makes it invisible.

Unfortunately no errors are given.

This can be tested pretty easy just do an lfr. set the warbears to one color and beast shaman's to another.
