Tidy Plates: Threat Plates

About:
Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (TPTP for short) is a theme for use with Tidy Plates with patch 5.0.4 or later WoW client. It offers a high amount of customization and tweaks to how your nameplates react and look. It also offers some unique features that are not available with any other nameplate addon. I've spent a considerable amount of time improving this addon and any comments or concerns about this addon are appreciated. I'm always looking for ways to improve this addon.
Features:
  • SharedMedia support and many, many, options for name, health, level, and spell text. As well as all of the standard nameplate features such as castbar and icon, elite icons / textures, skull icons / textures, raid marks, and healthbar coloring/alpha/scale.
  • Ace3 profiling.
  • Low memory footprint.
  • Threat system management.
  • Automatic talent detection and role assigning for an easy out of the box setup.
  • Customizable widgets.
  • Customizable totem nameplates.
  • Customizable nameplates for extra customization for specifically named units.
Commands:
  • /tptp - Displays options.
  • /tptptoggle - Toggle Role from one to the other.
  • /tptpdps - Toggles DPS/Healing threat plates.
  • /tptptank - Toggles Tank threat plates.
  • /tptpol - Toggles nameplate overlapping.
  • /tptpverbose - Toggles addon feedback text.
Additional Information:
A considerable amount of information about options and its internal priorities are not gone into details. Most options that are enable or disable based will toggle off options that are no longer changeable once enabled or disabled. If you have any questions about options and what they do, feel free to leave a comment or PM me here for more information.
TPTP In Action
Please feel free to leave feedback in the comments or !

------------------------------------------------------
8.006-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta20)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed a bug where certain nameplate widgets were not updated after changes in the options dialog (TidyPlates removed ReloadTheme() function)
  • Added a config option to set the alpha level of headline view nameplates (see About pane in the options dialog)
  • Fixed a nil error with healer tracker widget because of missing auras (introduced with 8.005-Alpha)
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de, although no errors should occur
    • Configuring specs could be done completely in TidyPlates - dialog in ThreadPlates in no longer necessary
    • Reload UI necessary for certain options in the options

------------------------------------------------------
8.005-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta20)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed a bug with the target aura widgets's strata (was sometimes shown behind other nameplates/auras) - rather a nasty fix for the time being (as TidyPlates layering is reworked currently)
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de, although no errors should occur
    • Configuring specs could be done completely in TidyPlates - dialog in ThreadPlates in no longer necessary
    • Reload UI necessary for certain options in the options

------------------------------------------------------
8.004-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta20)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Implemented a new alpha feature (see About dialog): Headline View (Text-Only) as known from TidyPlates - TidyPlatesHub must be enabled for this to work; configure it via TidyPlatesHub profiles
  • Added four missing PVP totems (no totems should be missing now) and switched to different colors for totem types (e.g. PvP, Talents, ...)
  • Added transparent class icon for Demonhunter and special icons (red glowing border) for totem icons
  • Added an option to disable the cooldown spiral on auras (requires reload UI)
  • Castbar border can now be set to Default or Thin (like healthbar border)
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de, although no errors should occur
    • Configuring specs could be done completely in TidyPlates - dialog in ThreadPlates in no longer necessary
    • Reload UI necessary for certain options in the options

------------------------------------------------------
8.003-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta11)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed error with reload UI and AuraWidget
  • Fixed problem with TidyPlatesHub overwritting AuraWidget settings of ThreatPlates
  • Known issues:
    • Changing aura style needs a reload UI to work (was so before)
    • Localization not updated except en and de
    • Styles for icons (special/transparent) are not working (no graphics guru :})

------------------------------------------------------
8.002-Alpha
------------------------------------------------------
  • Added demonhunter class (icons, tank tag)
  • Updated shaman totem list (icons and IDs) and rogue spell Anticipation
  • Fixed HP bar colouring with NPCs (probably still buggy)
  • Adjusted dual spec to new model in Legion
  • Changed spec option dialog to show actual spec names for configuration
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de
    • Styles for icons (special/transparent) are not working (no graphics guru :})

that yellow color might only apply to climing threat, but still useful for tanks. such as chimerion, since we taunt off eachother so often, we have to watch pulling threat at a bad time while still attacking him. if he turns yellow i'm hitting too hard or other tank isn't hitting him enough, cuase they should have more vengeance not me, so if i'm pulling they are slacking. but the visual helps

That's great news. Does that mean you are going to add this into the project? So that a tank will see healthbars change color before they fully loose threat?

And if so, it sounds like it will only work for something with a unit id. Are you going to make it only work for the players current target? Or could you possibly just scan through party1's target, party2's target, party3's target, etc? That might get a little cpu intensive I suppose.

I'm a little bit confused... If this is the case, then why in the interface options is there an option to change the health bar color to yellow when your tanking and don't have full threat?

I would like to, for example, have non-targeted targets to have an alpha of say 25% and when I target them make the alpha 75%.

I activate the blizzard fading, set the slider to 25%, then set the normal target slider below to 75%. Nothing...The only way to change the alpha is with the normal slider, but then, I get the same alpha targeted or non-targeted.

Works great in tidy plates, but not in this threat version. What am i doing wrong?
It's an adjustment slider, notice how it is negative values. Whatever they are at they'll go down X more percent in alpha if they're not your current target.

So say you have all nameplates at 80% alpha and you have non-target alpha at 30%, then when you'd target something those nameplates that aren't targeted would drop to 50% alpha.

Most API functions that relate to unit information require a UnitID. Nameplates don't usually have a unit id, except in limited situations (ex. your target).

For nameplates, we get a few indicators which have hard-coded thresholds. Historically, there were three different conditions; No threat, nearly aggro'd, and fully aggro'd. Recently, they've added a 'nearly losing aggro' indicator. (For Kat: unit.threatValue) So, we can have the 'loosing threat' color, finally. BUT, as I wrote, the thresholds are hard-coded by Blizzard. That's where the widget comes it; If you want to monitor the rate of threat gain/loss, it works well for that purpose.

I understand what you are saying about a tank never seeing the yellow bar. That makes sense. But have you considered still implementing something like this anyways? It would be extremely helpful for a tank. I know about the threat bar widget thing... doesn't really do it for me.

There is obviously something in the internal WoW API that gets triggered when a tank is loosing threat because the words above a mob will say "Loosing Threat". And the next thing you know, someone pulled threat and the threat plate turns red. It would be very very nice if the threat plate would turn yellow whenever the tank is "loosing threat" according to the API.

Does that make sense? Having to watch the threat line widgets on every single mob is kinda annoying and seems unnecessary when you could simply make the bar turn yellow to indicate which mob the tank needs to focus on. Seems like not a huge change but a very helpful one if you are a tank.

There is a Threat Line Widget you can enable that will give you more in depth threat and how much of a lead you have over players.

Just noticed while going through my Config.wtf:

TP:TP is still setting the "bloatTest" CVar that has no function anymore. This could be removed again. ;-)

TidyPlatesThreat.lua, line 1600:
Code:
SetCVar("bloattest", 1)

hey, GREAT addon sriusly best plates ever.... i just have 1 little question, is there a way in wich i can have the threat system activated for my main spec (tank) and deactivated for my PvP secondary spec? the class-based coloring bar system is simply awesome for pvp but its realy annoying to se every enemy bar sudenly converted into small green "no threat" bars. But at the same time ths threat alerts are just way useful to disable it for both specs. Anyway great addon. keep it up with the good work

btw, i have a shaman alt and im using ur TUSUI 4.0 and let me say is the best class oriented UI ive seen. Realy great work... just wanted to say that...

Before you use to be able to only see the debuffs on whoever you are targeting. Now you see it on everyone you target. How do I change this so I only see the debuff on who I target?

Hi,

Thanks for the answer on (1).
Regarding (2), I still don't know how to fix the uninterruptable castbar pattern issue. I'm using version 5.1.7 and uninterruptable castbar looks the same (some diagonal pattern), regardless the color and pattern I set. Normal cast pattern and color work fine though.
Any idea?

Thanks!

Having some trouble configing this...

I am looking to set this up for PvP Arena... are any of the default "skins" good for pvp? The plates just look like simple bars to me no matter what I do?
