Tidy Plates: Threat Plates

About:
Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (TPTP for short) is a theme for use with Tidy Plates with patch 5.0.4 or later WoW client. It offers a high amount of customization and tweaks to how your nameplates react and look. It also offers some unique features that are not available with any other nameplate addon. I've spent a considerable amount of time improving this addon and any comments or concerns about this addon are appreciated. I'm always looking for ways to improve this addon.
Features:
  • SharedMedia support and many, many, options for name, health, level, and spell text. As well as all of the standard nameplate features such as castbar and icon, elite icons / textures, skull icons / textures, raid marks, and healthbar coloring/alpha/scale.
  • Ace3 profiling.
  • Low memory footprint.
  • Threat system management.
  • Automatic talent detection and role assigning for an easy out of the box setup.
  • Customizable widgets.
  • Customizable totem nameplates.
  • Customizable nameplates for extra customization for specifically named units.
Commands:
  • /tptp - Displays options.
  • /tptptoggle - Toggle Role from one to the other.
  • /tptpdps - Toggles DPS/Healing threat plates.
  • /tptptank - Toggles Tank threat plates.
  • /tptpol - Toggles nameplate overlapping.
  • /tptpverbose - Toggles addon feedback text.
Additional Information:
A considerable amount of information about options and its internal priorities are not gone into details. Most options that are enable or disable based will toggle off options that are no longer changeable once enabled or disabled. If you have any questions about options and what they do, feel free to leave a comment or PM me here for more information.
TPTP In Action
Please feel free to leave feedback in the comments or !

------------------------------------------------------
8.006-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta20)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed a bug where certain nameplate widgets were not updated after changes in the options dialog (TidyPlates removed ReloadTheme() function)
  • Added a config option to set the alpha level of headline view nameplates (see About pane in the options dialog)
  • Fixed a nil error with healer tracker widget because of missing auras (introduced with 8.005-Alpha)
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de, although no errors should occur
    • Configuring specs could be done completely in TidyPlates - dialog in ThreadPlates in no longer necessary
    • Reload UI necessary for certain options in the options

------------------------------------------------------
8.005-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta20)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed a bug with the target aura widgets's strata (was sometimes shown behind other nameplates/auras) - rather a nasty fix for the time being (as TidyPlates layering is reworked currently)
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de, although no errors should occur
    • Configuring specs could be done completely in TidyPlates - dialog in ThreadPlates in no longer necessary
    • Reload UI necessary for certain options in the options

------------------------------------------------------
8.004-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta20)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Implemented a new alpha feature (see About dialog): Headline View (Text-Only) as known from TidyPlates - TidyPlatesHub must be enabled for this to work; configure it via TidyPlatesHub profiles
  • Added four missing PVP totems (no totems should be missing now) and switched to different colors for totem types (e.g. PvP, Talents, ...)
  • Added transparent class icon for Demonhunter and special icons (red glowing border) for totem icons
  • Added an option to disable the cooldown spiral on auras (requires reload UI)
  • Castbar border can now be set to Default or Thin (like healthbar border)
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de, although no errors should occur
    • Configuring specs could be done completely in TidyPlates - dialog in ThreadPlates in no longer necessary
    • Reload UI necessary for certain options in the options

------------------------------------------------------
8.003-Alpha (works with TidyPlates 6.18.Beta11)
------------------------------------------------------
  • Fixed error with reload UI and AuraWidget
  • Fixed problem with TidyPlatesHub overwritting AuraWidget settings of ThreatPlates
  • Known issues:
    • Changing aura style needs a reload UI to work (was so before)
    • Localization not updated except en and de
    • Styles for icons (special/transparent) are not working (no graphics guru :})

------------------------------------------------------
8.002-Alpha
------------------------------------------------------
  • Added demonhunter class (icons, tank tag)
  • Updated shaman totem list (icons and IDs) and rogue spell Anticipation
  • Fixed HP bar colouring with NPCs (probably still buggy)
  • Adjusted dual spec to new model in Legion
  • Changed spec option dialog to show actual spec names for configuration
  • Known issues:
    • Localization not updated except en and de
    • Styles for icons (special/transparent) are not working (no graphics guru :})

Re: Re: Raid Multi-tank aware nameplates

I was actually thinking of something a lot less complex. I was thinking if you and your fellow tanks were marked as such via the blizzard raid UI, it could be queried.

http://wowprogramming.com/docs/api/GetPartyAssignment

That looks like it should do the trick.

Re: Raid Multi-tank aware nameplates

that wouldn't be hard to do if you used libgrouptalents, or threw together a quick scanner of your own

local function IsDeathKnightTank()
-- idea taken from addon 'ElitistJerks'
local tankTalents = (getTalentpointsSpent(16271) >= 5 and 1 or 0) + -- Anticipation
(getTalentpointsSpent(49042) >= 5 and 1 or 0) + -- Toughness
(getTalentpointsSpent(55225) >= 5 and 1 or 0) -- Blade Barrier
return tankTalents >= 2
end

local function IsDruidTank()
-- idea taken from addon 'ElitistJerks'
local tankTalents = (getTalentpointsSpent(57881) >= 2 and 1 or 0) + -- Natural Reaction
(getTalentpointsSpent(16929) >= 3 and 1 or 0) + -- Thick Hide
(getTalentpointsSpent(61336) >= 1 and 1 or 0) + -- Survival Instincts
(getTalentpointsSpent(57877) >= 3 and 1 or 0) -- Protector of the Pack
return tankTalents >= 3
end

function bossModPrototype:IsTank()
return (select(2, UnitClass("player")) == "WARRIOR" and select(3, GetTalentTabInfo(3)) >= 51)
or (select(2, UnitClass("player")) == "DEATHKNIGHT" and IsDeathKnightTank())
or (select(2, UnitClass("player")) == "PALADIN" and select(3, GetTalentTabInfo(2)) >= 51)
or (select(2, UnitClass("player")) == "DRUID" and select(3, GetTalentTabInfo(2)) >= 51 and IsDruidTank())
end

is what we use in DBM to determine if you are a tank or not for selecting default settings on first run and for offtank ooze kiter detection on rotface...druids and Dks talent scans though are still subject to some inaccuracy with unusual specs. or will flag a dps as a tank if their spec is unusual too with tank talents. but this aproach would still be more automated, vs having users set tanks before the feature works. or you could use both, set tanks > guessed tank by talent scanning.

Raid Multi-tank aware nameplates

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I've only gone back a couple of pages in the thread (15+ pages.. impressive).

Is there a way of making threat plates multi-tank aware? What I mean by this if a I am a tank in a raid and all tanks are marked as a tank in the blizzard UI. I'd like the name plates to show me the mobs that I have in one color, and then show me the mobs which are tanked by another tank in a different color than a loose mob. This way I can know if a mob is actually squishing a dps or is being correctly tanked by another one of my fellow tanks.

Currently I have to revert back to my pre-threatplates tanking skills of tabbing through and looking at target of targets and of course looking for lunging mobs. All things nicely colored threatplates helped with.

I did a little looking around in the API on wowwiki and found a couple of function calls which allowed you to query the roll of a raid member. They looked promising. I can dig them up if that would be useful.

Does the debuff widget only work with enemy units? Would be nice to see debuffs on friendly units, like Plague Sickness/Unbound Plague for Putricide.

This is a good point. a good example of blizzards retardation

Removed nameplates from critters, all critters, even ones you are supposed to dps like ones before PP. Yet having name plates on something retarded like a pit of snakes.

But adding this to special name plates with a default of OFF would be pretty sweet

Under threat options, look at the marked units options.

HP coloured by threat level

With the addition of this new feature I am wondering if there is some way to get rid of the border texture around the frames to streamline them a bit more. I thought it fell under Highlighting, but that option doesn't seem to work.

I much prefer the slimmed down integration of threat in to health bars to reduce the clutter size on my screen, I think it looks a like sleeker.

Anyway to get rid of the outlines? THanks!

Not sure I understand.

The unique mobs are a special style of nameplate. Some of the normal features are not functioning with them just yet. They're more just an added feature at this point in time.

you could at least for time being add a boolean under each of the custom mobs for "disable this mob" that just returns it to threat plate behavior and not custom nameplate behavior. cause some of them i like the custom colors, basically, things that don't have aggro tables, bone spikes, oozes, even marked immortal guardians, it does have an aggro table but if i see it run off i won't be inclined to taunt it back thinking it was a shank...but things like adds on deathwhisper, all i wanna see is green, if nameplatse aren't green i'm trying to taunt adds i think are loose. although at same time I like the custom name plates on my mage when i do alt ICC. so i don't wanna see feature go away, just get some fine tuning making each individual mob optional for custom nameplates..

get an update out like this, then, you can work on making the two features work together in a crafty way, but us waiting do really want a a semi workable solution right now
