Tidy Plates: Threat Plates - Version 8.4

About:
Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (TPTP for short) is a theme for use with Tidy Plates with patch 5.0.4 or later WoW client. It offers a high amount of customization and tweaks to how your nameplates react and look. It also offers some unique features that are not available with any other nameplate addon. I've spent a considerable amount of time improving this addon and any comments or concerns about this addon are appreciated. I'm always looking for ways to improve this addon.
Features:
  • SharedMedia support and many, many, options for name, health, level, and spell text. As well as all of the standard nameplate features such as castbar and icon, elite icons / textures, skull icons / textures, raid marks, and healthbar coloring/alpha/scale.
  • Ace3 profiling.
  • Low memory footprint.
  • Threat system management.
  • Automatic talent detection and role assigning for an easy out of the box setup.
  • Customizable widgets.
  • Customizable totem nameplates.
  • Customizable nameplates for extra customization for specifically named units.
Commands:
  • /tptp - Displays options.
  • /tptptoggle - Toggle Role from one to the other.
  • /tptpdps - Toggles DPS/Healing threat plates.
  • /tptptank - Toggles Tank threat plates.
  • /tptpol - Toggles nameplate overlapping.
  • /tptpverbose - Toggles addon feedback text.
Additional Information:
A considerable amount of information about options and its internal priorities are not gone into details. Most options that are enable or disable based will toggle off options that are no longer changeable once enabled or disabled. If you have any questions about options and what they do, feel free to leave a comment or PM me here for more information.

Creating options and update methods to create such a feature would be very difficult and unreliable to implement. Also, since the textures would be stretched, castbar and healthbar placements would be off quite drastically.
Actually you could create borders that work with setbackdrop. But that would require redoing all your artwork. I did something like this in my addon where I had one texture but later made it into a border to use with setbackdrop. It probably be easier for the author of tidyplates to offer this to addon authors so they can do it easier somehow.

Yes, it is possible to implement with Threat Plates. Danltiger (author of Tidy Plates) has widgets and functions which track threat and tank roles within the raid/party environment which are global and can be used with my addon, yet I haven't created the functions to use those global functions provided by Tidy Plates.

So until I have a chance to work on that and create the appropriate function calls and options within Threat Plates, the coloring for alternate tanks other than yourself won't be available. Right now you can use the default Tidy Plates themes provided with Tidy Plates and there is support for alternate tank coloring with those themes.

Edit: I read things wrong.

High Threat: Green
Medium Threat: Yellow
Low Threat: Red

Now that all works fine for me. But when there's a second tank it doesn't quite work. When it's on me it turns red and to sum it up it just messes up.

The setup I want to achieve is:

High Threat (me): Green
Medium Threat(for both tanks): Yellow
Low Threat (me, or no threat): Red
Second Tank High Threat: Blue

Hopefully I have explained it well.
I currently don't have any support for tank tracking or multi target threat indication currently in TPTP. I do plan to have this implemented before MoP and eventually be the standard for TPTP with a lot of additional options for threat management and other targets.

Much of this tracking is already provided by Tidy Plates, I just haven't set the infrastructure up within TPTP or created the options / variables needed.

Im aware of the issues and I've been a bit busy with work this weekend and just updated my beta client last night. Ill try to get an update out before I head to bed tonight. Just so you know the MoP version of threat plates is available here:

There most definitely are options for target alpha. Look in the nameplate settings > alpha
I'm looking for just a slightly different functionality, where having no target it all will apply the "non-target alpha" setting to mobs.

Currently I have -75% for non-target alpha, but if I have no target at all it shows everything at 100%. I'd like for only my current target to ever show at 100%. Would be awesome if you could support this

Aye, i've got these things right, using PS for making the artwork.
Anyway i've been looking into the code of existing TidyPlates themes, and they seem to call the backdrop within the healthbar part, and not the healthborder part where ThreatPlates has it. I think this might be the problem? But no time to test it atm..
You're right; I didn't catch that in the code you'd posted. Backdrops are part of the statusbar, not the overlay/border.

I currently haven't provided options for these textures to be used, or placed them into the appropriate themes.

I will be adding this soon. I've been a bit busy with some website design work of mine. Feel free to check out my blog for some new posts: http://suicidalkatt.eternal-design.net
