LFDAutoJoin  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.1
by: Zenh [More]

LFDAutoJoin automatically joins ready LFDs. It's very lightweight and has little customization.

LFDAutoJoin has a polite AFK behavior: if you are AFK you will still auto-join the instance, but after zoning you will print a friendly BRT (be-right-there) message to /party (or /say if the party wasn't initialized yet--e.g. latency). These AFK messages are configurable in the LUA file.

LFDAutoJoin will also play a custom sound when a LFD is ready, one more noticeable (possibly annoying) than the default. This sound is optional/configurable. You can also choose to only play the sound when AFK (default).

The sound and its credits:
http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=18075

Toggle enable/disable of LFDAutoJoin (saved per account):
/lfdauto

Please use LFDAutoJoin with respect to others. Heroics are repetitive, people are impatient; don't let them wait for more than a minute.

----------------
CONFIGURATION
----------------

Refer to LFDAutoJoin.lua to make changes.

Defaults:

Code:
local showAfkMessage = true
local playSound = 2 -- VALUES: false, 1 = Yes, 2 = Only When AFK

local afkMessages = {
"I'll be ready soon, just need a sec.",
"Be right there guys, need a sec.",
"Hey all, I'll be ready in just a bit.",
"Hi, need a sec to be ready.",
"Hey, I just need a sec to begin.",
"Hello, I'll be ready in a sec."
}

local soundFile = 'Interface\\AddOns\\LFDAutoJoin\\ready.mp3'

--------------------------------------------
v1.1 = Added mod enable/disable through /lfdauto. Added an option to play the ready sound only when AFK. Lastly toned way down the volume of ready.mp3.

Don't be so angry, I wasn't speaking about your addon, I've said "tool", so Blizzard's one.

and yes, this is my feeling but shared by all players I know IRL and all my guildmates.

edit: and to be honest, yes your addon is a great idea, that's only players who make things wrong...

So just out of curiousity..what's your position on just how..well.."legal" this addon is..

I can respect the idea it isn't your problem or concern..but you wouldn't be very wise to think "if Blizzard has a problem with it..they'll do something about it"..since that something they do about it might be bans for botting..

If I understand the functionality correctly..you're automating a click..it may just be 1 click..but isn't that dangerously close to a function that could be considered botting..

I guess..to argue in the favor of possible safety..you could also say well look at the types of addons that auto sell greys..auto repair..auto do anything..those have been around how long with no bans..& I'd agree with that too..

Don't get me wrong I think I'm going to use it myself..I think it's a great concept..but I don't want to get banned for it ;-/

eh... it's nice to be able to check a forum or whatever, but i don't agree. the 30 or 45 seconds it gives is enough to tab back.

i've never missed a queue because of being on a forum or even having a smoke... you know the wait will be a while, if you do things right after queueing you're usually gonna be fine. ie when i wanna have a smoke, i start the queue and go have a smoke right away.

really, the best solutions to the someone being afk when the queue pops can only be done by blizz in how the queue is handled (which is incredibly poorly done currently) for example, i disagree with it removing you from queue if you miss one. it should be after 2 or 3 times you miss it, but also it would have to do the queue a little differently so that you dont just have it pop up 3 times immediately after each time it's not accepted.

currently, it seems that it's literally a line and the first 3 in line for dps, first in line for tank, and first in line for heals get the group. this is good, but it should have a backup plan for when one is afk. ie if dps doesn't accept, instead of poorly attempting to return the people to the front of the line and reforming the group completely, it should immediately ask the next dps in line if they want to join and keep the current group together. i said poorly attempting because i know it doesn't do that well. there's been a lot of times that it pops up, meaning there's tank, heal, 3 dps available, then once the group starts to fill again (can tell this by the lfd icon starting to mark what's found again) there's no tank found or no healer found for another 5 min. so either the tank or healer left queue or it's handling it wrong, this happening every time suggests to me that it's simply handling the groups poorly.

anyways, that's my opinion on the whole afk durring queue thing.

I think he is referring to the Blizzard LFD tool, not this add-on.

As for you saying ppl wouldn't be asshats if it weren't for the new LFD tool, that is untrue.

Ppl are asshats regardless of any tool to help them be one, simply because they are asshats.

There is no tool that MAKES ppl be asshats, altho a tool can enable them to be more of one, it is still that person CHOOSING to be an asshat.

Anything, and i do mean ANYTHING in life can be used to enable asshattery.

However, we would be a very sad race if we banned everything that could potentially be used for asshattery.

Please use the game's ignore list for those that CHOOSE to be asshats, regardless of what tool they used to be an asshat.

Thank you.

Is there any way to distinguish (random) dungeons already in progress from those that are fresh?
There might be, I haven't looked into it. I'll see what I can do.

I guess the easiest way would be to disable the addon when you're queuing for that certain instance and then enable it again. I haven't tried this addon yet, so is there already an easy way to disable the addon in-game, without UI-reloading? Or would you consider adding it?

Sounds great though
You can use the chat command /lfdauto to toggle the mod on or off. No /reloadui necessary. :-)

Mainly because if I'm trying to get into a certain instance, I wouldn't want to join something that's already in progress since they might have killed the boss I needed etc.

auto-join when AFK isn't a good thing.

wait a minute.... how did you do before this tool? you searched your group in an active way...

This addon will auto save you to an instance already in progress. This includes Voa, ToC, IC etc etc. Was unable to do a 10 man IC this weekend, because this addon auto saved me to a bad instance.

LFDAutoJoin only interacts with LFD, not raids. What you're saying is unrelated to this mod. I would not think the event LFG_PROPOSAL_SHOW would fire once zoned into a saved raid, nor should LFDDungeonReadyDialogEnterDungeonButton:Click() affect the dialog window asking you to save yourself to a raid.

If you truly think it's this mod, do this: Disable this mod, then zone into an in-progress raid. When the window pops up asking if you want to be saved to the raid, type this in the chat box:

/run LFDDungeonReadyDialogEnterDungeonButton:Click()

(I'll try to test it myself when I get time)

While i understand your point, mine was simply, the tool causes no harm if a player never misuses it.

and just because ppl misuse a tool, does not make the tool bad.

the tool here is a wonderful tool when used as intended.

thanks.

All it really comes to is this is a moral issue. On one hand, there's the wait time in queue to get into a group. I agree, it's annoying when I miss a LFD ready check. On the other hand, from the perspective of the group of other people including DPS who have waited as long to get in, it takes 10 mins before you can vote to kick and hardly anyone is willing to wait that much longer to get a group going.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I'm just laying out the issues at hand that might catch unwanted attention from Blizzard in addition to grief over irresponsible people using this tool. A simple "Use this responsibly" would not stop them.

It is the PLAYERS responsibility to be a person ppl would enjoy playing with.

Please stop blaming the tool for a PLAYERS choice to abuse it.

Thanks a Ton

Thanks a ton I really enjoy getting stuck with afk Dps in my groups many of which will not return for 5+ minutes forcing the group to wait for them.

Maybe you should have it target the nearest player and set them to autofollow as well because you know it really sucks when a group leaves you behind while afk and it sucks for them as well waiting for you to catch up when you do return..
