Update thread - Some additional information about this update is available on the forums.




Installation / Updates

You won't need to rename any folders.
Installation is a simple 1-click install process.

New Installation / Minor (8.#) Update Procedure:
Step 1: Move your current WTF and Interface folders to a backup folder.

If you are updating, moving the WTF folder is not needed.

Step 2: Copy RealUI's Interface folder to your World of Warcraft folder.

You won't lose any of your settings when updating RealUI.
Visit the Change Log to find out what has changed.

Revision (r#) Update Procedure:
Step 1: Copy RealUI's Interface folder to your World of Warcraft folder.

Make sure to overwrite all existing files and folders.
You won't lose any of your settings when updating RealUI.
Visit the Change Log to find out which addons have been modified.

Note: If you are playing in an asian region or regularly interact with players who use asian glyphs, go to the "Other Files" page and download the files most applicable to your situation.

Actionbar Question: Hiding Borders

I don't know if this was already brought up or asked about. But I'm gonna ask anyway.

Is there currently a way to hide inactive actionbars border? That border only looks good when there are spells in the square. If that's not possible with what you're using for actionbars, then is there a good replacement I could use, that wouldn't require any LUA knowledge to get setting right and looking right to match the UI?

Very nice, that did the trick. Thank you!

I noticed two minor things you might add to your list, at the bottom.

Bear with me, this is a longish explaination of an edge case!

In doing the pre-cataclysm event where you have to defend the courier to get the rune tablets, you are given a new action bar to replace your standard one. Because the things you are supposed to defend against attack the courier, you don't enter combat.

Because the action bars are hidden when out of combat, and because you can ONLY attack these things with the special abilities on your new action bar, there isn't any way to do this mission without changing your bar layout slightly.

I modified the conditions to "fade" instead of "hide", so they appear on mouseover, but I was wondering if there was a way to detect when something overrides the "normal" button content?

I don't think this kind of thing shows up very often, but I figured you might want to know and it's reproducable during the event.

The second thing I noticed is that the "hurt" fade on pitbull always applies to the player, even if it's the pet or target frame that's in question.

Ya know that actually happened to a friend of mine the other day when she was in ICC.

"Grid turned into stairs."

I saw a screenshot of her UI and it looked just like yours. It's completely a grid-related issue and not involved with Real UI. I think relogging worked for her, so if that happens again you might have to just do that until grid is out with an update.

Almost! This works great, but the range text remains visible. I tried fiddling with the "Normal" and "Real" entries, but they don't appear to affect that.

Yeah, Grid's super buggy lately. Just gonna have to wait on a Grid update.

Is there any chance you could put the addon back up with a disclaimer? Surely having the custom lag slider auto updated every 30 seconds is still much more useful than someone making a best guess, or at worst not using the slider at all due to not knowing what to set it to?

I actually got a little worried by the addon being pulled without any warning or reason, wondering if the addon was bad or something.

HUD transparency adjustment?

Hello, and thank you for a really nice UI compliation!

I have a (hopefully) quick question. the HUD currently dims the player and pet parts when out of combat without a valid target selected. Is there any way to configure it so it dims it to full transparency when those conditons are met AND you (or your pet) are at full health?

in reguards to the autolag addon. i liked it even if it would update every 30 sec. So I wouldn't have to adjust it every time my ping changes. He might re-release it as a passive addon so people don't have to change the slider when ever they have a laggy night and not have to change it back themselves.

I'm guessing that the getnetstat() api polls every sec but only updates the ui of it (which the addon used?) every 30 sec with the avg of the numbers. I may be wrong.

Like what i posted on the addon page before it was taken down. the lag slider is to prevent or lessen people that have problems with the new queue system for procs and spells. It is Blizzards response to 'fix' the gcd hack by allowing you to send more keystrokes to the server without mis-casting by people that button mash.

I don't want to start anything with anyone, but even without its 3 sec polling/change it still would be helpful.

I still would like to thank nibelheim for making the addon. with its current version it did increase my dps by 1k by having the lag slider set to my ping.

In my opinion he dont owe you shit.. Its free and you can choose to use or not! He does answer everything, but he can add or remove even delete the whole UI if he wants too.

RealUI Updates

On the note of apologies, I'd like to apologize for the lack of RealUI updates as of late. Right now I've got some serious back issues, and I'm trying to save up my strength for a super-update for Cataclysm. Expect it some time in the week before the 7th of December
