FAQ

Q: How do I change a particular setting in the UI?
A: A lot of UI elements are created via RealUI. To access these options, go to the Game Menu button (bottom left of screen) and click Options.
Other settings can be adjusted through individual AddOns options, usually found in the Interface options > AddOns tab.

Q: Action Bars / Grid / another addon keeps on resetting it's position after I move it, what's up?
A: The HuD Config utility found on the Game Menu button (bottom left of screen) allows you to reposition a lot of the UI elements.
To manually position an AddOn, go to the Game Menu button, click AddOn Control, then untick Pos on the AddOn you're trying to move.

Q: Nameplate font size keeps resetting after I change it, what's up?
A: Go to the Game Menu button (bottom left of screen), click AddOn Control, then untick Style on KuiNameplates.

I would take an approach like Chicchai and make it display on certain chat channels or events, and hide after so much inactivity or events. You could also make your cool tab button flash or animate for events.

Just want to say I love this UI, it's unique and clean

Just a question though, the windows that come up (trade, skills, talents, character, etc) their stacking up on top of one another when I open multiple windows. Is there a way to get them to act how the default blizzard windows acted? Not sure how to explain it..

Did you try and move them with MoveAnything?

To fix:
Open the original downloaded RealUI-xxx.zip
Go to your resolution's folder
Open "WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables\"
Copy "MoveAnything.lua"
Paste it into your "World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\YourAccnt\SavedVariables" folder

Ooh thats what got changed.. I moved the windows down because they were too far up the screen for my liking (On a good part of the minimap - 1680x1050 monitor), guess the new position didn't agree with it. Is there anyway to move them down but keep the default blizzard settings? And yeah thats what changed it, I used MoveAnything to move them down then they stopped stacking

Blizzard uses a cascading system for it's in-game windows, no way around it unfortunately.

Upcoming 0.1.2 changes

Going to roll out the next round of changes in a few small updates, available as patches for those already running RealUI. First update so far consists of:
  • Unit Frame
    • Power arrows larger
  • Action Bars
    • The hidden action bars on the left will be moved to the right. This should stop them conflicting with open game windows.
  • Minimap
    • Switching to SexyMap, it will still look the same as it is now
    • Adding support for SexyMap's hud into the Minimap toggling feature
  • Grid
    • Adding GridStatusRaidDebuff and Dungeon Role icons

Should be ready by the end of the weekend.

Why not just try out VuhDo? Seriously, it does everything you want without the extra modules, easier to config, it has black borders around the panels (awesome), auto ressurect announce, etc., and IMO Its easier to config as it has ghost frame configuration and you don't need to join an AV to configure it (shakes fists at grid).

Just try it! You might like it! (i watch too much yo gabba gabba sadly)

It's not that I don't like VuhDo, it's just more people are familiar with Grid I may be mistaken though, perhaps VuhDo is the new in thing :P

Most people that I come across ingame use VuhDO, I think its because its click to casting, which alot of people like to use (i myself use keybind mouseover macros), but I still like to use VUHDO while healing, only because I like that it has everything built in already, shows major debuffs from all bosses, in addition to auto-ressurect announce, smart clicking (right click to decurse automatically, ressurection, etc.) and the customization of it seems to be far superior to GRid :P Though, its all personal opinion of course, I got a few people using it through my Svelte UI back a while ago, even kamdis after she had hated it for so long she uses it now :P

All personal preference though, Grid is still a great AddOn.

Hi

to ferous I would say that my opnion is not the same than his.
I tried vudho because actually it may appear more "sexy" but actually I sometimes had moment when the click event didn't work (yes the click !) so that was disturbing.

Actually I would prefer healbot but anyone is free with his own resources :-)

To nibelheim I say that a new release is always a great news. And aalso that the patch way of upgrading is really a great way ;-)

A+

Just hope it doesn't get too complicated :P Next patch, while little, is going to involve a fair number of steps. Ah well, beats re-installing the UI from scratch, I suppose

FWIW, I'd prefer a patch regardless of the level of complexity. I've added a few mods of my own and replaced a few of the ones in this package and having to redo all of that because of a fresh install would be worse than the patching effort, I think.

ditto

Of course, eventually, there will be a major change or enough changes that a clean install is required. In the mean time? I like the patch options.

Thanks Nibelheim!
